Simple System Monitor

**
* NOTE**
* Some features of Simple System Monitor does not work properly with android version 6.0 and up because of the underlying system changes. Also, as of Android Nougat, Active Processes tab will show only one app, Simple System Monitor itself. This is because Nougat has restricted access to /proc directory where information about running processes are retrieved from. Please bug Google about this issue instead of me :)**
* END NOTE***
Simple System Monitor, as the name suggests, is a clean and simple system monitoring app for your android device. It graphically shows usages of various system components.

Features:
• CPU usage and frequencies for each core
• Total CPU usage and average frequency
• CPU frequency graph for each core
• Time spent on each CPU frequency state
• GPU usage and frequency*
• RAM usage and ability to clear RAM
• Network activity
• Disk I/O activity (internal and SD card)
• Test disks' read/write speeds (internal or external)
• File browser with support for basic operations (copy, cut, delete)
• Cache cleaner (optionally requires ROOT)
• View list of active apps and processes and their CPU usage, RAM usage, network activity, PID and UID.
• Kill processes as ROOT (only works on rooted devices)**
• View temperatures of all of the thermal zones
• View battery health and temperature
• Ability to keep running in the background despite being swiped away from the recent tasks list
• Floating mode
- shows system monitor data on a little floating window on top of other apps
• Dark UI theme

If you see "..." for one or more CPU frequencies under the CPU monitor graph, restarting the phone should solve the issue.

*Only Adreno GPUs are supported at the moment. Sometimes the GPU stat information may not be available/accessible in the kernel even if the device has Adreno GPU. In such case, "..." will be displayed instead of a frequency. If you don't see the GPU monitor, then your device's GPU is not supported.

**Using ROOT to kill processes is not recommended and should be used very cautiously. I do not hold any responsibility if something bad happens to your system or device because of it.

If you find a bug, please send me an email at [email protected]. Any feedback is much appreciated.

App permissions used/explanation:android.permission.KILL_BACKGROUND_PROCESSES: needed for clearing the RAMandroid.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and android.permission.WAKE_LOCK: needed for checking the storage space and also performing the r/w speed testsandroid.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW: needed for Floating mode

Devices used for testing:Nexus 7HTC One m7HTC One m8Samsung Galaxy Note 3Samsung Galaxy S6Nexus 6P

Thank you for checking out this app :)

File manager automatically calculates and shows the size of every visible folder. It let me find an old 1.5GB folder, left by an app long since uninstalled. File Manager could be made better if it was possible to sort by folder/file size. Another useful feature would be finding largest folders system wide, like WinDirStat on PC. Cache cleaner is very useful. After granting permissions through ADB, processes show up correctly. Battery usage stat for each process would be useful. Nice UI. 9/10

Finally I have found the app that I have long been searching for. Thank you! With this app, you can see every single app that runs in your system. Find out which is hogging your resources. edit: Network activity page constantly shows an upload and download amount (around 60bytes) although the airplane mode is switched on. That's weird?!

Can check CPU, GPU, RAM, DISK USAGE, TEMPERATURES and more. Can show it for specific apps and serivices, including killing the processes. The accuracy is debatable and I wish you could set a smaller update interval(<1s) for the process list, but this is the most comprehensive task manager for Android I've found, and it's FREE. I'll be donating to the developer for sure. Thanks Please add labels for all the different graphs. The meaning of the colours can be inconsistent for different graphs

What happened to the floating CPU usage? It was literally the best part about this app. Was it due to Oreo that the setting was removed? Edit: I still have the CPU Frequencies and CPU Frequencies Times on a Galaxy S7, 8.0 Oreo. The chart is also moving. The only thing really missing is the floating CPU button on the top right. I had also checked this on my Galaxy S9+ Oreo 8.0, and both CPU tabs are still there except the floating option.

Very good app, user friendly interface. I just miss a way to see what amount of ram and CPU is used by each app, much like the task manager of Windows. Still worth 5 stars for the data provided, the cost (free) and for the well designed interface

Some useful stats, what i need however doesnt aeem to work. At times my phone slows waaay down, i assume updates maybe or something similar. I check the cpu core graph which shows them all around 85% so i check active processes hoping to see the culprit, but it shows the processes highest cpu usage as 0.16 or other silly low values which isnt much use.

Looks very impressive with all the rolling squiggly lines, wish I knew what it all means in real money. Might just keep it because other people say how good it is. All I really wanted was something like a memory meter in the form of an icon that showed % memory used/ left.

Changing the update interval changes the output, like, setting it to 10 seconds, the maximum CPU usage will never go above 10%, but setting it to 5 seconds, the maximum will never go above 50%. It's like it was only tested for 1 second intervals.

This app (in most, but not all instances) works just like the one on a full size PC, but for MOBILE devices like the one I'm using now. It's very colorful, too! I like it A LOT! 👍

Thank you for this useful app, only problem when Floating Mode is activated for various sections if you use a mouse once you drag the floating window and put it in a position, you can't move the floating windows after that. They stay stuck in position. There does not seem to be any way to arrange floating windows. Is this a problem with Android or the App?

For the short time I've used this app, it's OK... Unless I'm unaware, it would be nice to have a feature where one can not only clear the history of the graphs but why didn't you add in the option or even a shortcut to clear the CPU clock frequencies? it would be very nice to have that Until then, have a nice day and thank you fo ryour patience for reading. -15/01/19

I've been using and developing Android for years, and I've never seen this app! Very useful, especially the floating graphs. I use AIDE to prototype on my device itself, and this compliments it very well. I want to run it through its paces, but I'll buy the developer a pot of coffee if it works as well as I think it will. Thanks....

I've only just installed this but I had to come back within minutes to rate it because it's so good! It's exactly what I wanted first time (which is rare) and it is so beautifully simple and clear while delivering multiple data points - a pleasure to use. Well done to the developer, I'd give 6 stars if I could ☺

A lot of the functionality is not activated. For Active Processes - which I am sure users want to see - it wants the user to connect to computer via usb and run adb shell commands to grant it permission! So the assumption is users know how to run shell commands on computers...etc...I might as well enter Developer Options and tap 7 times...display is clutterfree, otherwise...for what its worth

It's pretty good. Lots of useful graphs. Widget is not so useful and I'd like to see battery voltage as well as battery percent. (They two values don't seem anywhere near as correlated as one might expect.)

Does what it says it will, with very little overhead/system load. Wish I knew more about the AOS so the "temp zones" table made more sense, especially since they vary from one device to another, but that's my next AOS study. A great, slim tool.

Excellent! Could it show disk read/write per proccess so we could determine offending ones and have a chance to determine if we could stop them? Sometimes, some weird proccess reads a few gigabytes what causes severe lag.. I am almost rooting my phone to prevent so much weirdness messing things up.. Thx!!!

Amazing app, tells you everything you could ever ask for with a nice, responsive UI. This should be installed by default or at least the functionality should be available from Developer Options. Until then this app is the best solution

Try and deecribe your objectives a little more. The CPU cores are inflated a little and the actual RAM assumes a little direction with ROM vakues in theory. There dhould be a place that examiness the frequency of the relationship. Thank you for a good app.

Okay for real time data. Can't/won't tell you exactly what processes are using CPU. Trying to find a solution find battery draining apps, most appear to blanket kill everything. Process CPU and historical CPU app usage data would be nice if possible.

This application is amazing 😭💜💜i had been looking for overlays to check my cpu, gpu and ram usage after 2 months of searching i found this one. This app is absolutely amazing the fact that it works perfectly on my Htc one m8 (android version 6.0) is unbelievable i love it great app thanks to the devs and there are no ads which makes it 7 stars, doesn't require root 10 stars, best tool I've come across so far... But if you could please add an fps overlay i beg...

Mau. G. Sep 12, 2019

Excellent. Can you please add disk use by application? To see what's causing tons of disk activity. For example 256mb of cache disk use it a lot for an app i never open. Unusual activity causing slow downs can be detected.

shows really good amount of details wrt memory/cpu usage. temprature graphs, cached memory etc.. app will be much better if process level details can be added and option to safely kill/terminate processes. update - apps usage screen does not show memory and cpu usage on my phone.
