The fan is not the issue. Been using the app for almost a year now. Usually works the first time you turn the fan or light on but always crashes when opening the app again. It often takes a while to load of turn on the fan or when changing fan speed and light dimming. 2 stars cause it at least kinda works. The app is clean but desperately needs improvement. set up was not easy either. had to change Wi-Fi connection and things on my phone in a certain order. followed a short guide on google.

The app installed and connected to the fan with no problems. The app works - although getting the dimming indicator to slide out from the side is hit or miss. But - after using the app, the fan remote was no longer paired. Since everyone can use the remote as opposed to a phone the app has been disconnected from the fan. And since the app demands so many permissions - camera? contacts? - it will be uninstalled. Did get the loud chime when changing speeds/dimming turned off via the app - so the fan can be used if someone is sleeping (who thought that sound was a good idea?) I might use the app sometimes if I could also use the remote (maybe even if the remote cover just slide off - but this one needs a teensy Phillips head (like for eyeglasses) to get to the reset button., so as it is no thanks. Great fan, controls poorly thought out.

Like everyone else, I would have rated this 0 stars if possible. I want to be clear: If you're doing your homework and reading these reviews before purchasing a fan with SimpleConnect, don't ever expect to be able to use the SimpleConnect app. Ever. I initially installed the app on my S10e. It's not actually compatible. You can't actually register an account on that version of Android. It's too new and nothing works. I found a thread that suggested using an older version of Android. So, I used my Galaxy Tab S3, which is 1 or 2 versions of Android ago. It worked...in that the app sent me a link to "verify my email address." Guess what doesn't work? Verifying my email address via the link. It relaunches the SimpleConnect App...which, when you try to log-in won't let you...instead, it says "can't log-in, need to verify email address...umm...that's what I'm trying to do. So, I found a thread that someone set it up on HomeKit. I borrowed a friend's iPhone...yeah, apparently recent updates to HomeKit no longer allow you to simply log-in there. The support line is also garbage. They'll open a ticket, but can't help...some will admit that it doesn't work though...

Like many others I found the app to be difficult to sync with the fan. I assume it is because the QR code is so small and the app is rather sensitive at the wrong times, grabbing pictures of things it shouldn't and when the QR code is clear and crisp, it ignores it... Once you have it synced, it took me almost 2 hours...with wife, dogs, kids, neighbors all laughing. just to find that what others said about the app being amateurish being correct. When you go into settings, it defaults to winter mode and reverses the fan right away. it forgets it has a dimmer installed and, unlike in videos etc, it only controls the fan and light with no added scheduling features. Have fun, don't expect much. I am sorely disappointed.

I recently changed my wifi router, and I had to reconnect the fan. Finally, after many attempts, the fan connected to my wifi network one day. this is what I did during the successful attempt - 1. my wifi router was operating at 2.4 GHz, after the connection I changed it to operate at 2.4 and 5 GHz 2. I pressed the reset button on the remote controlller before setup 3. I turned off and on the switch at the wall while the app was configuring to connect and it connected after few seconds!👍

I was interested in this fan BECAUSE i thought this would decrease the remote control proliferation by using the phone control. YEAH!!! It took 2 calls, 43 and 57 minutes long to connect the first phone. only about 20 minutes for the second phone. So now i am one of the privilege few who actually has a functional phone connection.. if i do not change network!! we have 4 WiFi in the house. and when i want to turn the lights on, it takes 15 sec to turn on. very very bad

Worst app ever. We purchased a Hunter fan because the product is usually top of the line and were extra excited we could connect to alexa making it easier to control in the vaulted ceiling. Had I known the app is worthless (i cant even sign on to access the app) I would have looked for another fan with the same features. so disappointed. made multiple attempts to get help but all were ignored.

I've never written a review but I've also never come across such a terrible app. I've been trying to create an account for weeks. First I kept getting a 401 error next it wants me to control my email address...when I click the link and enter my login information it says email might verified! How frustrating. customer service told me to uninstall and try again that didn't work. I haven't found one review where people are successful.

Like many others sharing their experience, I am unable to complete the setup process in the app on Android because the app requires an email confirmation but doesn't enable you to send the verification. I specifically bought a Hunter fan because I believe them to be a quality product, and the fan itself is, but the Simpleconnect Wifi for Adroid is very disappointing. I can't use the smart features of the fan because the of app. I emailed the developer, we'll see if they respond.

0 rating due to lack of tech support from Hunter. I have a month trying to get into the app to setup. no one knows anything. Too expensive not worth purchase. After months of being told a was escalated to a supervisor, never got a call back... horrible customer service. Eventually tried setting up on iPad and was able to create my login. Not Android friendly. App doesn't work if away from home.

Even though I got this working I'm only giving it 1 stars for the fact that I shouldn't of had to use a workaround to begin with. I started out with the dreaded sign up and verify Email. That didn't work, just like many others. The only way I was able to get this to work was with an Apple Product; for me it was an iPad 4. I downloaded the same app (if you do this work around make sure to look for the app under iPhones Only as it won't show up under iPads Only) and made sure I was on a 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi network. Next I followed all the setup steps (some were hard to do as they didn't show up on screen and I was just tapping randomly until it move to the next step). When I got to the make an account step I tried to use the same email that I used on Android, but it said it was already taken (I probably could of just click on the link email but didn't think of that and made another under my Gmail account). This time though it verified it within the iPad's app. I finally got through to using the app, but only on my iPad; next I just logged in to that same account on my Android and it worked. Hope this helps many of you.

once you open the app you are immediately required to create an account. no idea why this is required. I never made it past this screen. I provided legitimate information in all fields and every time I tried I received an error number. not a message stating the error just an error number. I tried 5+ times and never got passed the account creation screen. garbage

I've had this fan up n running for at least 2 years, fan itself is great. The app not so much as it never has worked or even connected for that matter. It's by far the dumbest thing in my smart home. Glad I paid more money for the smart connect feature tho (That was a joke. I am in fact not glad just so we're clear). Has anyone had luck in using this feature? Reading the reviews it doesn't look like it. Hey Hunter, any chance you guys will fix this someday? Be alot cooler if ya did..

Bought three fans from Costco to compliment my smart home. Was unable to log into app due to confirmation issue that was resolved by Hunter sending Aylan a service request that took a week to resolve. App will not connect any of the fans to the WiFi access point. It says refused connection to a local ip that doesn't exist on my wifi. Changed local ip of acces point to match the one reported by app but still doesn't work. I have extensive networking experience and have many other smart devices.

Downloaded the app in hope of getting my fan to use dim feature. After setting up the account and getting the confirmation email, I was not able to log in. The app is a dismal failure. Without resources to develop AND test, it's a waste of EVERYONE'S time.

I tried using this app with four different android devices and two different routers. Nothing I tried would connect to the fan. I keep getting "connection to 192.168.10.1 refused". Also, app is super phishy, asking for access to all personal data on phone.

Last update in September of 2016. I had to use Android 6 in airplane mode to set up fan. Newer Android versions do not work because Hunter is not updating there app. This has to be the worst smart technology ever made. No timer or schedule.

Nothing simple to connect about this. I can't even get my account "confirmed" to try to use this app. Tickets in.... still waiting. After a manual confirmation of the amount to open the app up, now the scanner button doesn't work to add the fan. And of course no manual way to enter it either.

Awful app! Can't connect the fans to the network. Hunter maker needs to step up and fix this. So disappointed with this app. Spending too much time with no solution is simply ridiculous. Update: use the Simpleconnect 2.0!!! Now everything works!!!

SHOULD BE RECALLED!!! Like many other's apparently, I couldn't get this thing to work. This thing is so problematic that even Hunter Fans can't get it working. According to the tech support people I spoke with, they have stopped supporting/selling these things because of ongoing issues. I find it a bit ironic that tech support tells me this yet they have not recalled the product and you can even still buy the unit from their own website.

What a useless app. Like most eveyone else, i can't register for an account without either a 401 or null error message. I only bought this expensive fan for home automation options and the app is required for the most basic of those connections.

This is a terrible app. I installed it on 3 different android devices, with various versions of android. Could not get past the account confirmation page. Called and emailed product support: they are useless. Said they would create my account "manually" within a week. After two weeks and no response, I managed to get hold of an iPad, created an account and got the fan working with the iOS app. Then I used my login credentials with the Android app and things appear to be working.

Signed up for the app and I was told that a verification link would be sent to my email address. Clicked on the link but my account is yet to be verified and I am still unable to log into the app and hence utilize the fan the way I wanted to. If you guys are going to sell a product as wireless it should work. I also contacted the developers and no response. Now I have regrets buying this product.

The integration with Google is absolutely horrible. I could not get the fan to set up using the Android App. I had to fire up an old IPad to get it set up. Once I configured using the IPad, everything seems to be working ok... The fan's integration with Google Home is equally BAD. You cannot add the fan to Google Home, and you have to first tell Assistant to "Talk to Simple Connect", then you can issue commands. If you are planning on buying this fan and using it with Google Home, I would say DON'T !!!!

This is my second time trying to make this work. I tried in 2016 when Hunter first released the app and thought the issues must be resolved by now. Well today I tried to install the fan and connect it to the app. Since it has been over two years since I registered, I forgot my password. Of course the reset password function on the app doesn't work. So after digging through several years of archives, I figured out what it was. But after resolving the password issue, the issues of a poorly written app still existed. After several hours, I gave up again and penned a letter to John Alexander, CEO of Hunter Fan Company. Very disappointed that Hunter has not fixed their app issues in the last two years. Hunter Fan Company....please fix your app.

New pricey fan, but no love from the app : ( Incompatible with the latest Android build from what I can tell - and no updates for quite some time apparently. Very frustrating to invest in the tech only to see it's not prioritized within Hunter. Get your devs some help, please, as there's a herd of folks out here with broken functionality. ... I'm game for a refund of the difference between the standard and tech-enabled fans, too I suppose...

This won't even work. I can't even see buttons on the screen. I keep touching some area on the screen, it will go to next page or submit. I can't configure the fan with this app. This is truly a junk. I wanted money to buy smart fan but truly useless. So I use remote like usual fans. There is zero smartness for this fan. Hunter is smart to fool people to buy the regular fan with extra money by putting the label as smart fan. There is no video support for Android. All they have in the site is for iOS
