App no longer connects to service. Listings are really spaced out now, so only 3 items show on the screen at a time. When you Like a post there's no indication you've done so - the Like button doesn't change. And that's just within the first 30 seconds of using the app.
When you click on an item to see a deal, this app loses its place when you return to it. This is 100% WRONG! Store the current position in a variable or cache so it goes back to where it was so I don't have to repeat the same steps to get back where I was. There is no technical reason this can't be done! Until then, ONE STAR!!!
85% of the time if I click a link, when I return to slick deals I'm back on the front page and can't find the link again (yeah I know there's a history.) 15% of the time I click a deal and I don't care about it. Then for 3 days every time I open the app (even after force close) I'm taken back to the same bad expired deal. To make it worse I click "back" hoping to return to front page and I'm taken out of the app. Mostly good service, annoying app.
The 5.50 update is terrible. It makes it so when you scroll and initially tap and drag on a ad to scroll up or down it automatically opens the ad. 4.49 update did not do this. I will be using a system ad blocker from now , no ad revenue from me.
Love this app. Best one I've downloaded so far... especially around the holidays. I saved almost $500 on Christmas presents for my kids. I've downloaded a dozen other apps and have deleted most of them. SLICKDEALS I've been using almost a year and haven't any issues. Thanks slickdeals 5 stars
I've saved money on many deals since signing up and appreciate it. Many times though deals are expired before I open the email. Adding dwal alerts is tricky so I get many email that aren't on target. Overall this site is very good.
By far the best deal finder app I've used. I'm not just talking "x% off", but COMPLETELY FREE stuff as well. Just yesterday I went to micro center for a free 128GB microSD card + flash drive AND a free 240GB Inland SSD drive.
New visual changes are not worth the update. The top bar slides in and out of view as you scroll and makes the page bounce so it's annoying to read, the deal cards are bigger so you have fewer items on screen at once, not sure why either of these were changed.
Absolutely can't stand the new redesign, why make something so usable so unusable? The font is MASSIVE now, revert back to old version please! I can see 5 deals now where I could see 7-9 on the screen the other day, at least let people control the density!
Great app, but for some reason can't switch to landscape mode. Only does portrait mode. I have a tablet with a keyboard and it's quite annoying to only be in portrait mode.
The new color format is unbearable. It's as if they are trying to highlight the bad deals and hide the good ones. Worst of all, there are no options available to change it or go back to the old color scheme.
Guys, c'mon. The new visual appearance is terrible. It's harder to scan fast to read the deals. At the very least give us a setting to toggle back!
This is the greatest deal finder app available. I checked Slickdeals every morning first thing. Before I even check my emails. You have preferences that you set and so it notifies you when something that you need or want goes on sale or there's an extraordinary low price for that item. And there's peer-to-peer comments so the post AR by other consumers so you get their perspective on it as opposed to a Salesman or a company representative. If you like deals this is the greatest app in the store.
The latest ui update actually makes me feel uneasy when trying to scroll. It's floaty and shifts around while it slows to a stop. I've had to stop using the app until it's fixed
How would you like it if half of the space in your house was unusable bcs it was dedicated to empty space for appearance? In recent update they added so much empty space surrounding everything, that only 4 deals fit on the screen on huge 7.2" diagonal. On a smaller phone, 5 deals fit in the screen. Have to scroll even more past all the useless non-deals to find anything good. They think they're smart padding the app with empty space everywhere? Lunacy.
Good for deals, bad for landscape mode. I use this on my phone all the time but my tablet is always in landscape mode and this doesn't function in landscape mode.
Love the deals, but ... I haven't used it in a while but it keeps running in the background all the time. I do a device maintenance clean and it's always there, taking up memory.
There needs to be some way to block certain terms and shops. I want notifications for PC components so I have alerts for the correlating shops (Adorama, Best Buy, etc) and manufacturers (Zotac, MSI, etc) but I can't filter out premade PCs (iBuyPower). Also needs a dark mode.
The app is average, even though I love Slickfeals overall. I really miss the ability to look for expired deals to do price comparison shopping.
The app with its user-friendly interface has allowed me to put the application to work for me one setting it up for my schedule and alert. So far so good.
I've been a registered user for over 10 years, and the app never gets better. In fact, it has gotten worse. The loading speeds are significantly slower than a browser, and you can't post photos for a deal via mobile app. In the past 2 days, the app just crashes immediately. I've cleared the cache, uninstalled/reinstalled, etc... And nothing helps. I advise you to just use the website on your browser.
Good app, but also dangerous. I've saved lots of money by finding deals on things I've been meaning to get, or will hold out on things knowing I can get a good deal on them if I just wait. It can also be dangerous if you are easily suckered into buying things "just because" because there can be some really cool stuff that pops up for sale, but isn't something I would ever need or wanted before, which means goodbye $$. Nevertheless, the app is slick, and I love the features it has! 😍
Really frustrating to actually use but does show deals. I'll get push notifications for deal alerts that I set, but then when I actually try to open them, the app opens to the general app home page! I can not find my deals anywhere! I have to remember what the item was and then search for it. Sometimes it'll come up, sometimes it won't. Incredibly frustrating and has sometimes left the app totally useless for me. It's only purpose is to help me find deals but then I can't actually find them!
Don't download the app, stick with the mobile website. One of my main gripes is that you don't have the ability to save deal alerts on the fly. On the website even the mobile one when you search for something you can create a deal alert from it with ease but in the app you have to go to your profile than deal alerts than create one, it's very tedious. Also when I select a search result and back out of it it takes me back to the top of the page so I can't continue searching from where I left off.
The lastest changes have brought on some problems... Mainly the inability to turn off the frontpage deal notifications. You can "limit" them, but not turn them off. You can also customize your front page deals by selecting topics that you do not wish to see (nice feature in theory) but the app doesn't save all of those preferences and the app becomes unresponsive after that. They basically turned on too much functionality too fast.
For an app, it's really useless. The share dropdown randomly goes missing for days. Offer zero customization to make it any better than the website. It's annoying to have to switch to the frontpage tab instead of the "for you" tab each time I open this app without any option of switching the simple default. The only thing this really offers is the ability to send my phone with more notifications, that only works sometimes and is almost always delayed even when set to instant.
