Smart Connect

Update: doesn't seem to work anymore unless i open the app after the action that prompts the event. i.e. I'll plug in the charger at night but it wont switch to ailent unless i open the app afterwards. Fantastic app. I primarily use it for my phone to go automatically silent when charging at night between 10:30pm and 7:30am so I'm never disturbed. Used to also use it for headphones when commuting so I could just plug them in for automatic music.

Functionality reduced on Xperia 1 ii as compared to the older Xperia Z3+ (less triggers and actions). Doesn't allow to select a specific Bluetooth device from the list of paired devices. Cannot switch on/off Mobile Data. Screen brightness setting (set to minimum, disable adaptive brightness) doesn't work either. No changes since last update 31-Mar-2021)

Can't make a profile for my Kenwood car radio. I know it's a different brand but I should still be able to select it in the list. It's a Bluetooth enabled car radio. Ok m not sure it would or does work ok n a car radio from Sony. If it doesn't I Then it's a useless app to connect to a car radio. I suggest to update the app for more flexibility to please the users. So I gave it 3 stars for effort.

Just allow us to delete the app. I have no notification nor mic sound. People cannot hear me unless I don't use the loud speaker and this isn't very convenient! I've disabled everything I could in this doomed app, I've deleted the events as well. I haven't used this app for over 2 years but it still haunts me. After every update there's new "surprise". I've had similar issues with it throughout the years(I have my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact for almost 5 years now). Still works perfectly fine tho :)

This used to be an amazing app. I'd plug my headphones in, it would start the Music app adjust the volume, and play songs. But after this last update, it no longer is capable of the Play command. What's the point of just launching the Music app if you can't do anything with it? Sorry guys - but this isn't good.

Since the volume sound settings and navigation app have changed on Sony Android, it has not been updated on this app. I want to be able to stipulate the in-call volume when the driving event starts - as well as media volume (navigation directions) and bluetooth music volume. I would also like the option to close the app when the event ends (so that when i leave my vehicle, and go indoors, google isn't telling me "GPS signal lost" or "turn around when possible" from my pocket).

Was a powerful apps. I had relied on it for years since Xperia S. It helped me to turn on/off things automatically by either a pre-set timer or by connecting to devices such as chargers. However, the apps becomes more and more useless after each update. At april 2021, the apps even cannot switch on/off wifi automatically after latest update.

Does exactly what I want it to. I automated a lot of things to happen when I connect to and disconnect from Bluetooth. One feature that I'd love is the ability to disconnect from a certain Bluetooth device. I would set this up as my end item. The issue is my Bluetooth in my car stays connected for like 15 minutes and every time I get close to it, my phone plays from the Bluetooth in my car rather than my phone speaker.

Works well for getting a daily balance from my Telcom via SMS, changing volume on an event or time of day, switching Bluetooth on and off. However starting an app e.g. on a schedule, doesn't work, but I think that's due to recent Android updates.

New update makes it so the notification saying that smart connect is active is on all time, even though its not. I've tried disabling all the events and reinstalling the app, but its still just there all the time. So this app is now officially broken for me, which is a shame because it's been very handy for me for the last few years.

This is the only app by a device maker that I've ever found useful--in fact, years later, I still install it on any phone I get, it really is that good. NOTE: If the 'read texts aloud' option isn't working for you (highly recommend for driving, biking, cooking, etc) check your app permissions and manually enable access to your messages

It used to be very useful, but broke with the latest Android update. Previously, when a trigger event occurred the set actions just happened - smart. Now, when a trigger even occurs, a notification pops up asking if it should perform the set actions - dumb. Why would I program Smart Connect to do something if I didn't want it to happen? Please fix it!

This is a really good app once I get it up and going. But I come across a problem every time I get a new phone and set this up. It will NOT show me my Bluetooth headphones on the list of accessories. I can never remember if I figure out how to fix it or if it mysteriously fixes itself...

it defeats the purpose of automatically starting an app if you have to click on the notification to start it. Lost a lot of functionality. Find a work around or fix tapping notification to start an app and ill give you 5 stars. Otherwise slowly becoming useless.

Music connection broken - this used to be really good, but now no longer has option to play music on connecting to device, which was my main use for this, in the car. Why has this gone ? I uninstalled and reinstalled and its even worse - no longer recognises any devices (with permissions granted i might add). Reduced review to one star and uninstalled

Very good, but recently a notification shows into the top menu of the phone and can't be removed, which is annoying. But I like this app. I uninstalled it because I'm going to use the natural functionality of the os/phone: do not disturb schedule.

It's having issues connecting my sony wireless earphones to my XZ2 PREMIUM, works one minute then the next it stops connecting as it should, also if I pause music it won't always play again without gettin my phone out, it needs urgent bug fix. I'm a Sony customer of 30 yrs had nearly every phone released, giving me a good knowledge of what I'm doing before writing this review. TV and mobile departments are Lettin me down atm. Please sort ASAP

Used to be great on my Xperia Z5 Compact but since upgrading handset to an xz1 compact (and android operating system) it just doesn't work. All I want is to get in the car without having to get out my phone and press play! The notification to say it's active is annoying but I'd live with it if it worked. It doesn't disappear even when nothing is 'switched on' 🤷🏻‍♂️. Shame really as I really liked this app 😔

Basically does nothing. Worked great on my old android 5 xperia, but now meaningless on my new xperia 10II. I set it up to start the music app when i connect bluetooth headphones, but it just gives a screen notification. If push the notification, the music app launches. If i have to interact with the screen, i can just open the music app. Essentially pointless.

I have now tried to report this bug for several days. A permanent notification is *not* ok. Even worse, it actually plays a sound when it starts - which can be in the middle of the night, bypassing DnD. This is not the way to solve it and, as I said, after several days of trying to report this as a bug - this is now my only option.

Tried to use with one of the older sony LiveView "smart" watches. Not a chance. The app is unable to scan and relies on the android system settings, which of course does not pair with sonys proprietary closed standard. As the device list only contains entries for chargers, headsets and bluetooth loudspeakers, it is impossible to use this app with anything not on the list.

SmartConnect app won't detect my earbuds or when I'm making a normal phone call. Contacted Sony Xperia support but those idiots weren't able to provide any useful information or provide any alternative apps to use. Finally found SoundAbout but it requires audio source to be set manually instead of automatically detecting earbuds.

The only reason I'd ever need this app is to start playing music when I connect it to my car Bluetooth. I used to have that function in my old car with old Sony stereo and Xperia T (or something that old) and it was great. Now it's gone. Why? Sony software disappoints again.

the updated version fixes many of the broken things how ever it seems bluetooth devices don't work yet connecting devices to the audio jack detects and switches modes as specified however adding devices such as Bluetooth doesn't seem to work neither does turning Bluetooth off then on fixes anything anyway please continue to fix it good progress so far, makes me wonder what was the decision maker thinking when he gave the go ahead to spoil this app for the users

Latest updates have been causing me issues, notification doesn't go away. Now no longer can find or connect to any Bluetooth device even don't headphones. No Bluetooth device appears in accessories. I've cleared cache, cleared data. Even re installed the app
