Innaccurate. Even after calibrating and setting the phone height properly it is still off in measuring distance and height by large margin.
Maybe not 💯 exact but close enough for most things. Ignore the people who gripe about it being way off in reviews, they're not using it right. You've got to set your phone height in settings & for best accuracy you've got to hold the phone at eye level while you're standing. Ads not intrusive or even noticeable really.
The distance is measured with the camera height as the base for measurement. This might be a tad bit off. However, you can compensate it by manually adjust the camera height based on previously measured distance. After you've calibrated it manually, it works like charm. I've measured ±3.5m and the app shows only ±10cm deviations. Quite accurate for my needs. Suggestion would be to put options to change the measurement unit to cm, inch, feet, etc.
Can only measure the distance of objects that you can look down at (your feet, the ground...). Since I am not a child meauring the height of the action figures in my playset and lack the power of flight to afford myself a perpetual 'higher ground' view, this renders the app useless for me. Also, if you have to find higher ground, then you must factor that distance into calculations or results will be unreliable. Great idea and good looking implementation, but a total fail for my needs.
Very accurate. Most people don't know how to use it, because you have to change the default height of phone from ground first before starting the measurement. After that, it's all fine. Note to developer: should provide a smaller units such as cm as well (even if the measurement is a bit off it will prove to be helpful).
Good suff, easy to use, got fence length to replace, square feet for painting the ceiling and more.
Couldnt figure out how to use it, way too complicated. Apple got this idea correct, KISS method. Also sound waaaayyyyyy too loud, no volume adjustment. Not wasting my time on an needlessly complicated app. Also, it told me a table across the room was 108 feet tall. No thanks.
The app works. The errors come from the instructions saying "tilt the phone". When you tilt the phone you have to make sure the height of the camera remains at the same height (you can't use the center of the phone as rotation point). The second error is about the height. The height should be the height of the camera again (no the center of the phone, neither your height minus a foot). In Summary. I use my height up to my eyes. Keep phone camera at that height at all moments when measuring.
Great app for what it is. If you just want to measure distance to object and height as well as compass bearing for free then this is the app for you. Interface is a little bit cluttered.
have to play with it some more, it does vary on several attempts to measure distance, you almost a tri-pod for better accuracy! don't really need it that much, really just another app gadjet, and I'm more accurate just to measure by eye!
Shows someone measuring a monument but the damn thing can't measure above the horizon. Idiotic.
Useless app. Shouldn't be, "tricky to use". A GOOD app is simple to use and easy to understand. Readings bounced around and was impossible to calibrate.
If you are careful to hold phone at the height you set, and make sure it stays at said height when tilting to the ground of distant object, it is surprisingly accurate. Good app👍
Could have been a great app - I wouldn't know because the ads overlap the calibration instructions. Since I can't read how to use, it's not worth my time to figure out.
I do not understand at all. Does nothing does not work and is 100 percent useless
I used the smart measure tool and it is off by 4 feet. When I measured something 5 foot away it said 9.1 feet and the height said its 1.78 ft high and it's actually only 11 in high. I should rate it a -5 Stars but there's no such thing in star rating land!!! thank God the uninstall button works
It's complicated. I guess you have to be a civil engineer to understand it. I finally got it to work, but I was messing with it so much I don't remember what I did. I hate writing bad reviews, but I just wasn't smart enough for smart measure. I did like that there was a leveler included in the app so I don't have to download two seperate apps. If this was more simple for dumb folk like me, I'd give it a 5.
Works great. Please read and understand how to use. Spend some time calibrating it for your personal height/ your phone model etc. It's a tool, not a magic wand 😀
Very effective app. I've manually measured the objects I've tested and it is pretty accurate. I'm guessing, those who gave it with just a star did not know how to use the app properly. I'm definitely keeping this app in my phone. Thanks.
Works as good as the ghost finder app. Just a bunch of random numbers. I measured a wall that was 2 feet in front of me and this app told me it was 9 feet 8 inches away?
For some reason this was completely inaccurate, I even followed to instructions on the YouTube video. Maybe it's just my phone as I read a lot of 5* reviews or maybe I'm just doing it wrong, in which case the app isn't simple to use.
Couldn't get a correct measurement, tried it with many different levels, distances, etc.
It's close. Not as accurate as a protractor, plumb line, and tape measure though. Much faster however.
No instructions. looked like it might have worked but could not figure it out. Too bad. I uninstalled it. My search for a good phone tape measure continues;(
Way off... Tested on a few items, horribly inaccurate. App told me that a 20" figurine that was 15' away was 8.25 feet tall and 54.375 feet away. Other tests proved to be just as inaccurate.
First time when use Im very confuse, and not show accurate measure event it have calibrate. Very difficult to use. Sorry to uninstall.
It really does work. I don't know what problems you all are having but I tested the measurements I got from this app against an actual measuring device and the app was fairly accurate. Thanks!
Not bad for a ball park estimate.. i cant imagine any of these apps are going to be 100% precise.. measuring about 100 feet registered at about 105 - 110 foot. So for a ball park ita not horrible. I wouldnt cut you 2x4 using it though lol
I gave it 4 stars because at least it's legit. The problem is that it's a little hard to calibrate. You have to know the phones exact height and the angle you keeping it as well. I don't know if it would be possible to use the phones sensors for the latter. (I think it is) It's definitely need some improvement to make it easier to use.
