I don't mind not having some features but I think it is a little bare bones. For some reason I can't use Google AI to put this in audio only mode. The audio cuts out when I try it. It used to work before. I have to go into settings > audio > advanced and turn it off there. Which is a pain when you aren't even in the room.

Disappointed in their Android TV implementation. It lacks many features that could have easily been included from the regular Android app. One of the most annoying things about the Android TV implementation is that "Now Playing" disappears, if you happen to put the music on pause and switch to another app, when you switch back to Spotify, "Now Playing" is gone and you've lost your place. This is something that would be really easy to fix.

This app allows you to take your music and podcasts with you, but it's horrible at it. The user interface is far too busy, with functions that aren't useful for someone on the go. The buttons and icons don't have intuitive behaviors. Functions with no relationship are linked to a single click - e.g., if I download a podcast, it automatically adds it to some list called "Your Episodes". But I can't find where to view or manage Your Episodes. And paradoxically, when I delete a podcast from my device, the episode count on the Your Episodes list increments UP by one. It doesn't integrate well, or consistently, with the desktop or Chromecast apps. Sometimes I go from my apartment to my car and the mobile app picks up right where I left off on my desktop. Other times it automatically starts playing something altogether different, and not of my choosing. The app also tries to do too many things on its own. In the car, get home, hit pause, turn down the volume so it doesn't scare me next time, and the damn app starts playing again, because apparently turning the volume down means, "Start playing again." "Offline Mode" seems to play content that I know I haven't downloaded locally. How is it doing that? Whose data limits are being burned? The end user certainly doesn't know, because nothing is intuitive, labeled properly, or meaningful. I tolerate the app because I have the service. But it's a horrible, horrible app.

Have dropped to one star, as Android TV app is terrible and they seem to do nothing to correct it. Lock ups ruin it and make it unusable. Like the app when it works. Don't know if it is a recent update, or what, but it locks up on every use and will not respond to any commands. Clearing the cache didn't work, nor did uninstalling and re-installing the app. Hope they can fix this, as it didn't happen in the beginning. TV is Sony XBR-X930C.

The biggest issue (and the reason for the 3 stars) is that artists and albums in the library aren't sorted alphabetically, which makes the library pretty useless. You'll likely just need to search any time you want to find something if you have more than 20 or so artists in your library. Also, this, like every other Android TV music app, is a dumbed-down version of the Android app, so don't get your hopes too high. That being said, this one is better than most of the rest (Tidal, Google Play Music, Youtube Music, etc). The "connect" feature is terrific, and something other services could learn from. Now if Spotify will only get on board with lossless audio. 2017 NVIDIA Shield TV

The app is great but the performance is very poor. It hangs the TV so bad I usually need to remove the power cable in order to restart it. The more songs you play, the worse the performance gets. While you are in the app you can barely notice it, but once you try to start another app, the TV dies. Other than this it's very cool to be able to play music on TV.

Latest version broke functionality on Nvidia Shield, Have uninstalled Spotifiy and re-installed (version 1.30) but still doesn't work. Have deleted cache and data and still doesn't work. Sometimes it will load the album or playlist and show the cover-art, and even start counting time, but no audio plays. Other times when selecting an album, it loads the one next to it. Supper buggy.

Uninstalled it after getting annoyed with the app taking focus and playing music when pressing play while in another app. Does not provide anything worthwhile over casting to the TV. If the above is fixed and it would pick up where I left of playing my music on another device... I would consider installing it again. Please fix this and add some worthwhile features such as lyrics and video clips.

Nvidia shield - Works well but missing features. It will work as standalone allowing you to browse playlists etc however a choice for a more advanced view would be great similar to the desktop app with a slide out sidebar consistent with netflix, youtube UI. If only playing an album, there is no option to continue play after finished unless you choose repeat. No option for playlist radio. A few minor things, but I do miss them and have to perform via spotify connect.

Died in middle of podcast today...and now I can't play any episodes whatsoever......

After you updated to the newest layout, the performance and everything about it has turned to the negative. 1) Screensaver doesn't start anymore within the app, so if I forget to turn the my OLED screen off, which I accidentally did when leaving Spotify on, my screen now has burnt in arrow keys and pause button on the screen. Please fix this or make it an option. 2) No equalizer 3) No easy way to sort playlist, always starts with the oldest songs on the playlist 4) Sometimes the app hangs up, so it shuffles through all the album covers before you can once again change song. 5) Possibility to play songs in the background while looking at videos (realize this may be from restrictions within the Android TV software)

After using 1.17.0 for a week on my Sony Bravia it actually seems to be behaving itself on my playlists. For some reason Top 50 UK hits glitched and stopped but so far my regular music is playing fine, continuously, ads work and don't break. Looking good again Spotify. 👍 I cant fault your Twitter Support team really taking the time to troubleshoot and feed back comments.

1. You have to login every time, even though there is only one account. 2. The app stops after 80-100 songs and needs to manually be started on my Philips TV for some reason. 3. The user interface can be described as a mess. Otherwise it does it job but it is not flawless.

Didn't work at first but Spotify fixed the issue in a very short time after giving a negative review. Really impressed with the speed of the fix and the overall product is enjoyable.

What have you done to podcast playback? It used to respond to seek/reverse seek controls by invoking the 15s forward/back behavior. Now it invokes next-track/previous-track instead. Makes it much less useful as a podcast app.

for the past few months i can't switch playing between devices. this is a terrible experience because for me a big part of why i subscribed is the ability to start listening on my phone and switch to AVR and computer but this does not longer work for me

Absolutely ZERO options. No normalization. No downloading. No shuffle. No quality settings. No equalizer. Nothing. NO OPTIONS WHATSOEVER. One of the crappiest Android TV apps I've run across.

Spotify autoplay is set as default enabled within Google Home displays and speakers. There is no way of turning that off and it's really frustrating. Play Twinkle Twinkle little Star to help your kid fall asleep and then you're kid can be jolted awake by whatever rock song was up next in the queue. Love spotify premium but this needs to be figured out...

It's unusable on my tv. I can pick music I have already listened to but the search box does not work. I cannot enter any text either with tv remote or wireless keyboard.

Dav. V. Dec 5, 2020

They don't have chromecast support or any way to watch videos on the TV. It should be simple with chromecast or with the android tv version of the app.

Paw. Oct 27, 2020

Since last update there is no possibility to connect from Spotify Mobile App via chromecast to soundbar or tv. Tested on few devices, without success.

Ces. O. Oct 10, 2020

I use this app a lot. I love that my collections are available via multiple platforms and my device can cast to many devices. The paid family plan is worth it in my opinion.
