Useless. My granddaughter found workarounds and ways around every aspect of the companion app, including complete uninstall. She then demonstrated her methods to me. As an IT guy, I had serious doubts this app would work for anyone over 10. It doesn't. Don't waste your money.
Why is my child able to control the app on their phone? She is constantly being sent notifications which allow her to turn the features off. She is able to uninstall the app or disable features. She's been able to add whatever contacts she wants to, when I am supposed to be able to restrict contacts. What is the point of the kids plan and the app if none of it works properly? And then Verizon has the nerve to TEXT me about it and allow me to "request" via text to my child that she puts it back.
The app acts like it works, but time and app restrictions simply don't work. For instance: Snapchat can be accessed and fully used no matter matter what. Support is also nonexistent. I've been waiting for a response about this issue for over two months.
Always disconnects from my kids phone constantly and if they aren't with me I can't reconnect. Also it will say it's connected when it isn't. Worst app I've ever used.
A really good app but you can't add emails. A lot of my kid's friends have iCloud emails and I can't add them. That is the only issue with this app
Horrible app. Not worth the money at all. Update 3/18/2022- I put in a tech ticket since the mapping got even worse, I couldn't see any details like I had been before when I first started paying for this app along with my Verizon service. Nothing changed, nothing got better. I literally just yesterday ended ALL my services with Verizon. I went to T-mobile.
Need daily limits. The app allows you to set a schedule of when children can or cannot be on their device. But it doesn't let you said a daily limit, i.e. 2 hours a day. This is a basic feature and surprised to learn it is lacking.
Works some time. Alerts do not accurately coincide with the paired phone. Each line I have covered has different issues. Support just says to pair the phone for better accuracy, but all phones have been paired. There's no solution given. When it's working, it's great, but more problems than not.
I have several times tried to put this on a Moto Z3, the same that I have. I have talked to support 4 different times being told that it would be escalated and someone would call back to try and fix the issue once they resolved on their side. I have yet to get a call and that it's been a month. No I'm not calling back since they can't seem to get it together. I am very unhappy that there has been no communication past first level.
Good overall. I wish I could add tags / names to the 20 contact list. I don't know who is who. Also wish I could see the texts instead of it just saying inbound/outbound text.
The idea of this app is wonderful, however use is the worst experience possible. Companion will not connect on my child's device, my app says it's not connected and won't sync. Par for the course for VZW. Overpromise, underdeliver.
Terrible. Kids can easily disable the app on their phone. It may show where they are, but any restrictions the parent puts on them don't work. YES, VERIZON I HAVE PAIRED IT AND ITS UPDATED.
Every time this has to update it disconnects from my child's phone. If I am with him and am thinking about it that wouldn't be a problem. The problem is when I'm not with him, am not thinking about this application when I do see him, and then open the application later to see that I can't do anything until I see him again.
Verizon is good but it tries to hard to make things easier, but actually only makes things even worse. And most of these smart apps that they have, they are usually confusing or hard to understand.
Pretty bad app, but so are all the competitors, from what I can tell. Doesn't send texts to pair up the companion app. Fails to block apps. The whole gambit of failures. Unfortunately bark, mm guardian, and net nanny also have bad reviews.
This app is getting worse over time, not better. 1.3 mile radius, seriously. $9.99 a month to not be able to locate the other person. SMH
It used to work fine, but now one of my child's text log only shows incoming texts, but does not log all outgoing texts. Support told me to remove the phone and then add it back, but that didn't help. Not worth the 4.99 if it doesn't work. And support has been 'working on it' for awhile.
