In terms of its capabilities, the service itself is great. However, this app falls flat on its face. I have to use the website to do anything. The app will alert me if my car is unlocked, hatch is open, etc but will never let me actually use the app. Instead it brings me to the screen where I can select my car but it isn't there. If I try to add it on the app, it gives me a generic, "There was a problem" message. The service would be worth having with a functional app.

Well, after 6 days with my brand new VW, I'm having the same login issues as a lot of other people. Apparently my email address needs to be "verified" to use the app, yet I can use the website with no problem. Oh, I still haven't received the verification email, so I have to call an 800 number. Yeah, I'll pass. Nice concept on the app. Horrible execution. Update 10/24- I still can't use the app because my email address can't be verified. However, the app is still sending me notifications! Hilarious! At least I'm in my free trial period and I know not to purchase the plan after it ends.

Have to put in pin and password every time, despite having only 1 vw vehicle. Bugs me with ton of notifications about the car being unlocked while i'm still in it, but they dont go away when you lock it, so you have to log in through the gruesome log in process to delete them. you can lock your car remotely, but it takes like 2-3 minutes... just a very poor execution overall. i was debating on keeping it after the trial period, but the it offers too few features to make up for how annoying it is

Not sure who came up with this new version of the app, fire them. Whomever conceived it, fire them. Whomever approved it, fire them as well. What is the point of an app that merely redirects you thru a browser to a website. Hint: there is none.. The previous version wasn't "perfect" but it was functional. No fingerprint authorization for the PIN entry anymore. Time to go to the dealer and have this system deactivated or physically removed and the subscription cancelled.

I remember older versions worked very well for my 2019 Tiguan. I would even get notifications if I forgot to close my windows! Worked perfectly! Why the hell they changed anything I don't understand, but it feels like a bait-and-switch. When I got the car I was promised an APP, not a link to a slow unoptimized website The 'updated' app is a glorified bookmark. It just takes you to the website! Better off just bookmarking the website instead of downloading this garbage. What a disappointment.

VW has to do better. Charging customers and giving out access to an app that halfway works is simply unacceptable and a rip off. I thought that they finally got it right with the fingerprint authentification, and not having to manually log in every time. But then there is the lifetime load: it's taking a lifetime to load, ans when it does, the app is still not accessible. Very poorly done, VW.

Total garbage. I was recently forced to take an update of this application and now nothing wants to work. It will not recognize my PIN number. The old app worked fine in the new one does not even have fingerprint recognition. I've contacted Volkswagen and they advised me I have to wait at least two days to hear from somebody about this issue. Doubtful I will renew my subscription. 10.16.19 update. The app has been updated but compared to the older version is very cumbersome and slow.

The old app was extremely slow with very limited functionality but has consistantly worked. The new version released last week was an utter failure. I have yet to be able to log into the system on any android device or my windows based laptop. I bought the car partially for the internet connectivity and so far the lack of capability and reliability in that area may discourage future VW purchases. It is almost 2020... not 2000... it is not like we are dealing with breaking edge technology.

The good: shows you the total mileage & the % left in your fuel tank. The bad: a) no option to initiate a remote engine start (I previously had a Dodge & they offered this... disappointed to find out VW does not offer this via their app) b) The door unlock / lock button are both highlighted as blue. It should only highlight the actual status of the car (ie if the car is unlocked, then highlight it as unlocked so the user can remotely lock the car) c) No option to cancel a command (currently you cannot cancel a command that you pressed by mistake, say if you clicked on the flashing lights button by mistake)

Poorly constructed app. It works good, when and if it works.. And that is a BIG when and if. I was able to use this app without problem for about a month or so, but now for the past two months, I can't even get past the loading/login screen... I'm glad this was my free trial, and I didn't pay the $200 subscription fee..

This app is OK. Just downloaded it but was very disappointed to hear that there was not remote start since most other models have the remote start and can adjust air/cooling. Needs an update to add more features to keep up with the other models.

Major UX issues with significant latency when sending commands. Login is flaky. Would be nice to have the option to auto-start from the app. Perhaps opening/closing windows and sun roof. Great that it sends notifications, but useless if you can't corrext it through the app.

I had higher expectations for an app you have to pay $200 annually to make use of. I have to use the website to even use this service. The app hardly ever boots. When it does boot, it won't recognize any internet connection. It gives me access to basic functionality I'd been locked out of by VW. let's me turn on my heat in the winter and AC in the summer. Thanks for nothing, scumbags.

Horrible app. SO glad I didn't purchase the subscription! When calling to set it up for my free trial on my new vehicle I was pitched the sale before even being offered the trial on the phone! When I use either my remote or the door handle to lock the vehicle, the app sends me a push note saying my doors are unlocked and they are not! I have used for two days and it is already just stupid and pointless. Cancelling the trial today!

Functional app, but it seems to take a long time to refresh the vehicle status or send commands to the vehicle. SUGGESTION: please remove the blank line at the start of the push notifications - when these notifications are displayed in the Android notification center or as a notificatuon bubble on the app icon, the blank line means you have to expand the notification before you can read it (the blank line is unnecessary and anti-functional)

please add remote start support for all vehicles that are capable. for vehicles like my 2018 golf alltrack sel that has all technology to support remote start, but having no option for remote start on this vehicle, it would be great if this app were capable of it. I know Mercedes-Benz's comparable app has this capability, so this should be possible. Please add remote start support for all vehicles that are capable of it and I will update to 5 stars. This would be a great value added to the app.

After half a month I had to pay but unable to connect, the correct update allowed me to connect for 2 weeks. Now I cannot see my battery charge status! What good is an app to let me connect remotely to my electric vehicle if the option to see charge level and adjust climate remotely had been removed! Cancelling today! VW Carnet has been an exercise in disappointment.

Car is shown unlocked, app does not lock it; app shows service is needed even though everything else is up to date. I phoned customer service. After being put on hold several times, I was advised to update information using a computer. VW needs to do better!

Rob. R. Nov 12, 2019

Hasn't been working for a while now. Worked once since the car was purchased and once it required the update to the new app, it has not worked (as many others have pointed out). Spoke to VW care and they acted like this is the first time they are hearing about this which I find odd since it has been an issue for over a month now.

Chr. C. Feb 5, 2019

I paid $50k for a car because of the features this app offered. Total garbage. Push notifications don't sync. Constant login issues. It's super slow. With the recent update, they removed the option to remote lock/unlock the doors. Last VW auto I'll ever buy.

Tod. R. May 1, 2019

Over priced! If the app can unlock your vehicle, it should be able to lock your vehicle! really not worth it for the $200 a year! whoopie, I can have my map quest destination on my phone transfer to the cars navigation. well for $200 a year I will just manually type it in! VW really falls short with this!
