I've used & recommended WeatherBug for several years & it's my favorite, daily go-to weather app for many reasons (love the Spark Lightning option too!). However, after the latest update there are issues with the hourly forecast accuracy. For example: It is raining in my area now (that includes the nearest weather station too) and the hourly shows 0% rain/precipitation. The map shows rain so I don't know what the issue is? Hoping it's fixed soon because I depend on this app daily!
Used to be my go-to weather app. But with this "alert" thing that is impossible to shut down --it is impossible to know if I'm being given a pollen alert which I don't want and don't have checked or a servere weather warning which I do want and do have set to "on". I finally turned them all off! Guess what! Still getting them! Coupled with totally wrong forecasts and conditions, I've had enough and will be looking for a new weather app. If it ain't broke, don't work so darn hard to change it!!
Overall it's a very good weather app. I would have given it 5 star's but it runs slower than other weather apps and needs better radar, but it's a very solid app with great info and information from the NWS. Living in tornado country; I wish it Sent a Push Notification Alarms for severe weather when it's in my area. Maybe it does but I don't have that function turned on.
Edit: new ad policy makes this nearly unusable. Ads used to be flashy banners at the bottom, with the screen area behind the weather data a neutral depiction of the current weather. Now it is a visually noisy, full screen ad that renders the white font color almost unreadable. It's a shame because there is so much great data in this app. I won't uninstall just yet, hoping they will change the background back, but I am trying out new apps to find one I can use daily.
This is a pretty good app. I'll be hanging on to it. It needs some fine tuning. Likes: can personalize the layout. Lightning feature that many weather apps don't have. Can pay to disable ads. Wide variety of notification and weather alert options. Dislikes: driving feature is a useless massive powerhog, totally not worth it. Sometimes uses asinine amounts of RAM 1GB+. WHY?! Ads can be really creepy.
It's one of the better apps for weather. The map feature is really good. There are some issues though. Like being unable to see written temperatures in the map, we simply get a color scale range. Also can't easily toggle between winds and temperature. Hourly data is goo chaotic to look at. Ad at the bottom is a nuisance. And so on.
love the app. 10 day forecast and regional alerts are great. pollen alerts, wind hazards, frost, fires, etc. 4 stars because it's pretty slow to load at times, likely because of all of the advertisements, which show up below the app content, so you don't have to look at them if you don't scroll down. all the same, great for a free weather app.
I have enjoyed WeatherBug since around 2001 and have installed it on people's PCs that I worked on over the years. However it has devolved to a completely unusable POS on my Android devices. Their customer support though very responsive have offered no solution. Just now a new problem it won't load the radar map. My local TV station has a great app that loads quickly, follows me, and instantly loads the radar and also shows future trajectory as well as past when playing the time lapse.
This weather report is usually very accurate without being overly dramatic! I like knowing how close the lightening is and the pollen count! We often use the radar when we are at the beach and the alerts let me know I'm not missing anything important! All of this can be customized to suit what is most important to you.
I have the same issues as another user in that the current local temp on Status Bar does not get updated consistently. WeatherBug support contacted me, and they've been great. Very responsive and willing to help. I ended up clearing cache and storage for the app, and this seems to have helped. I also ensured the app is set to 'never sleep'. The temp being updated on the status bar has improved somewhat - it may auto-update once or twice an hour now. This isn't a deal breaker for me, as I like the other features of the app.
Snow forecasts are good unless one lives in FL, then they are useless! The app needs to be split up into regional versions which will more accurately reflect the weather in the user's area of the country. I don't need a snow depth measurement device for a part of the country that hasn't seen a single snowflake in more than 25 years! A sea-surface temperature chart would be MUCH more essential, especially during hurricane season. WeatherBug, please consider implementing this option.
Hello ! I like what the app does, how it's set up.. It gives a more accurate temp where I live than other apps, even though it's glitchy alot.. Often gives 2 different readings ! One in the colored box on-screen & another in the "extended" forecast area. It depends on which I tap. Changes forcast thru the day. It's often slow to keep up with the temperature, I have to compare it to my Nest at all times, and "restart the app" with a tap. It crashes a lot lately too on my Android LG V20.
This was a great app, but a recent update has caused it to send frequent notifications that are irrelevant and distracting. Do I want a notification that a tornado is on the way? Yes! Do I want a notification that it might rain? No. Plus there is a persistent notification with the current weather which is both inaccurate and cannot be dismissed. Goodbye and good riddance.
Something is wrong with app. I've had this app, over 3 years. Now, the temperature showing in notification bar, won't sync.. with the actual app, until I open it, then the temps with sync up. 3 hours later after the sun goes down, the notification bar still shows the daytime temperature. I have the current update. I even deleted the app, & reinstalled it. HELP ??
Please give us an option to remove the commuter, daily precip, etc from the notification triangle. I live in an area prone to severe weather and it is a real pain when I look at my phone and the red triangle is lit with 4 notifications and they're all non emergency nonsense. Turning them off in the settings menu does no good. They still pop up as alerts regardless.
I like most everything about this app except for current wind speed. It's never accurate, always much lower than predicted wind speed and when I look out my window and see our flag flying straight out and flapping hard and see the trees bending and waving substantially it doesn't jive with the current wind reading on your app of 7 mph. Then I'll look at predicted readings and they're more like 14. This has been happening consistently. Why?
Have had this for a while, but the radar has disappeared. It shows when it is supposed to rain which I depend on tremendously as I'm a gardener, however, it rarely is accurate, so I have downloaded The Weather Channel app, and compare the two, and The weather channel is more accurate for current & upcoming hourly weather conditions.
Used to like weather bug but lately it just annoys me. They have added stuff I don't want (snow depth regardless of season) and do not provide an opt out, litter it with alerts that mean nothing (commuter alert?), and now put in a background photo of someone I don't know rendering the actual data hard to read. Enough. I uninstalled it. However after trying several other apps I came back to WeatherBug. It still annoys me no end when I get photo backgrounds but I get the hour by hour I can use.
I had recently cancelled my subscription and "permanently" deleted it from my phone when I realized that I was still seeing ads I'd paid not to see. However, after trying the Google Weather widget on my Pixel 6 and finding it to be yet another grand flaw in the Google system/devices. I needed my WeatherBug back! It had always kept me updated, and the widget not only updates regularly, but also looks way better on my screen. Somehow, when I downloaded WB again the ads were gone. Such a relief!
The settings do not respond to any of my choices! All alerts are shut off, but the alerts are still coming through. I would NEVER consider getting a paid subscription. Weather Bug used to be very good, but now it's amongst the worst weather apps out there! Now you app is constantly freezing on top of everything else! TERRIBLE 👎👎👎👎👎
The app features in and of themselves are what is expected. I also expect there to be ads in a free app. However, these ads are extensive, and more importantly, they are placed all the way up and down the page. It would be okay if they were just on the top or on the bottom, but there is ad after ad after ad. And whatever ad service they use should be changed. I don't see how anyone in the right mind would ever click on any of these ads.
The app seems to work fine but WeatherBug has gone overboard on the alert status. It seems like everything sets off the warning alert. I have done adjustments but I still get tons of warnings. Dense fog, red flag, wind, or fire weather always seem to come up. Where is the setting for thunder storm and tornado watches and warnings? Weatherbug has set up too many things as warnings. Very disappointed on the alerts.
Definitely feel like this app, and their website, are more accurate with three weather than competing companies. Weather Bug is definitely more accurate than what pops up on Google. Anyway, the app has great extra features that I don't use, but if I were to I'd find whatever it may be with ease!
Will this ever be FIXED? - - - - - - Widget always lags behind the status bar. Sometimes it's as much as 12 hours or more. It's been a problem for quite a while. The severe weather notifications are somewhat useful and as frequent as expected. I use the widget more than the app because of way too many ads. The only time it's really useful is to open it to kick off a widget update.
This app used to be really great until you all started to copy what other weather apps were doing to give themselves a new look...like daily precip, real-time precip, commuter, pollen and allergens. And why haven't u ever given us the visibility, except In your advisories??? Real-time visibility reports are important, especially when driving a car to work on the highway on foggy mornings!!!
It is a pretty easy app to move through quickly. I like the miniature weather map on the home screen so you can select it really quickly. And no masked frog!! I wish the detailed hourly view was automatically minimized and you could expand it if you wanted. Lots of adds, which are down the pages at least, but it is free, you get what you 'pay' for.
