Videos won't load. It just keeps spinning around and around. Even though I have notifications turned on I'm never notified when it's my turn to play. Both of these things are extremely frustrating! I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times but it didn't make a difference. After I posted this review, the videos started loading. So now the videos load but after I watch them a message displays that says...Oops! Video is still loading!... so I don't get the coins after watching videos.
The developers have chosen style over functionality with the latest version. Now the game siezes up at random points during play, all in the name of "features" nobody wants (stickers? Come on, Zynga, these are just stupid). Animation sequences get in the way of game play and there's no way to stop them. I paid for the ad-free version years ago and yet there are still lots of ads getting in between me and the game. Less top-heavy, please...
Change it back - new version is obnoxious. Before you had to touch the word you were thinking of playing to see how strong it was & the little scale music would play based on how high the word would score. NOW when you experiment playing words & switching letters around it nonstop plays the crescendo music. It is really obnoxious & was an unnecessary "update". Also having to hit skip for the emoji pop up after every play is stupid. Make it optional instead of in players' faces everytime.
TOO MANY ADS!!!! Forced to watch an ad between EVERY play. Spend more time on ads than actual play. Just want to play with people I know--honest play, in the traditional way-- with no power ups, no cheats but the pop-ups to bait you into the myriad options are EXHAUSTING. Early on I paid for no ads but clearly they booted me off. Now, I just want to upgrade to NO ADS like before but all the premium options include tokens and other "powers". This is the WORST app I have for UPSELL & ads. :-(
Very very high data use. Edit mar 2022: somehow it now uses and even more incredable ammout of data, 1.2gb a month. Edit Jan 2021: now even higher. This app used over 500mb of data in one month. I've calculated that it somehow takes about 6mb of data per move you make. This equates to almost an hour of HD video from YouTube, except that it doesn't even usually play a video add after each move, just a static image with an impossibly small close button.
Upgrade is awful, for us that don't pay for no advertisements, they intentionally make some advertisements where you literally have to shut the app off or restart your phone to get out of the advertisement. It will keep taking you to a website, regardless. Two I've seen don't even give you the option to get out, one is a Gillette one I see now at times. Hate the upgrade, considering finding a new app NOT made by this place
Put a word down, get a long ad, then the game must cycle through countless stupid achievements which give you points to level up for who knows what. Ads I expect. Achievements are annoying. Every game and app has them, but this game had me waiting about 2-3 minutes of achievements.
If I scored you on how much I love the game, it would be a 5, but I dropped you 2 stars for offering rewards for viewing videos, then saying the video is unavailable, causing people to have to pay to play. Times are hard! If you xan't get your videos for rewards to work properly, why not offer rewards of extra tokens to play experts, instead of mti- colored tiles we never even use? Don't be such a grifter!
There is a 45 second ad after each turn you take. Love the game hate the ads. Time to delete again. Worst game about ads that I have found. I would rate the game a 5 without the excessive ads.
Come on guys, an advert after EVERY MOVE!! Seriously. I used to enjoy this game a lot more. There was once (I think) a one off purchase to remove adverts on the mobile version, but now This has gone. No wonder people are uninstalling this for other similar games. I think I may do the same soon unless things get better.
I hope this update is better than the previous one. Everytime I play a word the screen goes blank. Very annoying I have tried taking the app off then restarting it without any joy. It happens to my friends as well so it's not just me.
I like to play, and I have just tolerated the stream of ads. Now they FORCED me to "upgrade" and what is the great benefit? I now have to click MORE TIMES to get the stupid ad off the screen! One more forced update and I will just delete this game. The time spent in advertisements is just not worth it.
It is so much fun and challenging and you can't believe the words that you can use and also remember and get great points I've been playing this for 7 years I love meeting new people and just having a good time. And some of them you can also chat with and a funny faces oh my gosh I love winning new faces or should I say emojis. And I love the ads I found a lot of stuff that I shop for and it is great, from clothing to furniture and also jewelry.
Irritating experience (shifting view from close-up to far-out is very annoying, and I hate not being able turn off automatic games starting with strangers). Then, today, I'm forced to update (no telling what fresh hell will be unleashed).
After many years of playing building up everything. I lost it all, credits, coins, tiles, stats, everything. With an upgrade. If it was not for a life friendship I built on here I'd quit.
I really love 'Words With Friends'. I'll never get tired of playing. Learning new words and challenging people are my Forte. I love to win, win, win always. When I lose a game or several games I'll just try to better myself by playing some more.
I'm sick of all the ads etc, just stick to the basic game as.it was in the beginning. I want to play scrabble, not get points, but this bundle, frame, stupid stickers etc etc . Plus I'm on level 19 &.can't progress??? Why is this and why am I also at level 4 in another section and why is my real name shown on Lightning matches instead of my other unidentifiable name,??? Please rectify my playing name back to Nellie No Chat, not Sandra McDonald, otherwise I will opt out of playing at all.
I just love scrabble. I kind of understand why there's so many ads but being able to play multiple games, puzzles, and a lot of single player options makes it a lot more tolerable
Loving playing, but too many ads force you to close down game because you can't get out of them. AND NOW they keep playing the same ad at the end of every round. Horrible when you are playing multiple people.
Is this words with friends or PCH? Evey single time in between turns PCH ads show up and there's literally no way to close them. Shady forcing people to click the ad trying to close. You literally have to close the app and reopen the app to play this game. Funny how my first comment about this mysteriously dissappeared so reposting.
I've just run across the "Time to Upgrade" - "Get the latest features and improvements." - "Update to the latest version continue playing." I'm just so ticked off about this!!! PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY this is SO NECESSARY to CONTINUE!!! ANY FREAKING UPDATES ON ANY APP, THAT'S ANY APP, SHOULD ALWAYS BE AN OPTION, THAT'S AN OPTION, NOT FREAKING MANDATORY!!! PLEASE CHANGE THIS. I'M SURE TONS OF PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE UPGRADE SPACE ON THEIR DEVICES TO DO SO!!! WHERE'S OUR "FREAKING" FREEDOMS HERE!!! ASAP!
Love the game, but inconsistent application of rules and severely limited dictionarymake play frustrating at times. Randomization of tile distribution also a problem.
Great game to play with friends. However the ads make the game glitch at times and you have to get completely out and start over.
Love the game, but words with friends 2 keeps freezing so I haven't been able to play for over a week. Please fix this problem so I can enjoy my favorite game.
I reinstalled this app as I thought I was having problems with my tablet(app slow to load). Upon reinstalling I have been returned to an earlier setting and have lost all my games with friends, points and achievements. I changed my email address about 7 months ago but cannot find out how to change this in the app. When asked to sign in I used the new email address for the verification code This is most definitely the version I was using before. Can I reinstate the data?
