YAATA SMS

I just downloaded this app last week and so far I love it! I actually used to use a different app for texting and Google disabled it due to security concerns! As I was downloading and testing new apps, I came across this one and liked that it was fully customizable per the description, and it is! You can customize everything from the colors of the screens, to the fonts and window bubbles, etc.! I actually paid for the premium version of the app to unlock all of the features! Definitely worth it!

Used to use Handcent/Next Sms. Last night I was told it would steal my data so I uninstalled it and now it's gone from the play store altogether. I used it for like 20 years. I was looking for something that would allow just as much personalization, this isn't it. Even if I paid the $4 for premium it only allows for custom colors....I want to be able to use any picture for a background.

I like the feature of auto reply. I wish more text apps had this feature. Also being able to customize with different colors and backgrounds is cool. The only problem I have encountered (and I guess it's a minor one) is that when I try to delete messages, they don't delete. The message conversation can be deleted, but the phone number or contact still shows in the conversation list blank. Not sure what to do about that, but everything else is good. Edit: Developer never answered my email.

I was using Handscent (so) as alternative to the default app as it is customizable. This is important to me. However, people complained about the way attachments expire and cannot be opened. I had to find an app that works for everybody. This is it!! The only thing I don't like is there does not seem to be a way to lock messages to keep them from being accidentally erased. The other app had that. even if I did a mass delete a messages from a contact, the lock messages would remain.

Fast, and clean interface. Have been using it since I found it and have never looked back. Update 6/3/2021: for the past few months, I have been dealing with an annoying issue whereby YAATA will not open if I press on a notification that it shows. Or rather, it takes upwards of ten minutes to do so. Opening it manually from the home menu is much faster. Further it sometimes takes up to 1hr send a message out, even if I have a good signal. 9/2021: still happens.

One thing I wish is that the area where you type your message reply is the same color as the sent message color and I can't stand that. I wish I could just make it white with black text. Not blue with white text like my outgoing messages. Would be the perfect app otherwise. I purchased the app hoping I would be able to change that feature but no such luck 😔

Hands down the best sms app I have found. Has pretty much every feature I want, like swipe actions, send delay, customizable notifications, multi select, etc... and many more great features that I never really even thought about before I started using it. The only glitch I have encountered is that it doesn't seem to auto save drafts if I get interrupted during message composition. Several times I have had to recompose the entire message. Fix that and I'll give 5 stars. But overall a great app.

Update: When you do a search, the app is too touch sensitive. I can barely touch the screen to scroll down through the message results and it opens one of the messages. Fix please. The app has gotten increasingly slower with updates. Takes forever to load messages, take forever to send a message from the notification window, and sometimes the pop-up doesn't even show when I press on the notification. I have to go to the app. Please fix. this used to be my favorite SMS app.

I got this app initially a long time ago during alpha; remember getting the premium once it was released because I liked it so much. In the interim during several phone replacements and Android OS upgrades, I dropped it and just used Android Messages. Until Oreo removed the ability to do per contact notifications with their stupid 'notification channels'. Went through several other SMS apps and thought I had settled on one but got this again and wow. So customizable. Works great. Only issue I've found is that from the old SMS app it seems to have offset the MMS images by one in the conversations. Meaning it appears to be one image behind in the timeline. Not a huge issue. Still playing around with it. Still a great app.

So far I like the app. I did pay for premium. I like that you can customize many things, I like that I can select multiple conversations when I want to delete stuff. I like that it shows the last bit sent or received in the conversation list. I like the auto-responder feature and the ability to create my own, even ones tailored to a contact. I like the notifications and how I can select the type I want for several situations (in a call, in another app, lock screen, etc.) I don't like the fading background color when you get a new text that is unread. Is there a way to disable that? My profile picture is four colored dots - I cannot get it to show my profile picture no matter what I've tried. Is there a way to fix that?

Well designed but lacking a few UI conveniences. I like the level of customization available {paid and free}, but it is odd that there is no way to preview customization as you change it. You have to change something and then navigate to it in the app in order to see how it looks. The app also advertises a sms send delay but I have yet to find it. The repeat notification feature also seems to be broken for custom vibration settings

This is the best messenging app. I have many favourite features, amongst all that which is fantastic, and aesthetically pleasing. Eg. The ability to write texts before selecting a contact or number, controlling the delay in sending a text, the ability to tailor conversation lists for practicality and so much more. Plus it's free. I will definitely pay for the extra packages.

Unfortunately, if I receive any message which contains a link to a website (e.g. website, plane ticket, boarding pass, etc.) and you click on the link, you are NOT directed anywhere. You have to copy the whole message, and recopy the link of of the message and paste it into your browser. In addition, you cannot have separate ring tones for messages from different persons. Uninstalled. There are MUCH better options which offer smooth ads-free service

Issues with the gallery have been fixed as of awhile ago. This truly is one of the most feature rich and complete SMS application. The only thing I'd like to see added would be true Android 11 style bubbles, and the ability to delete old text messages similar to how Textra does it. Outside of that this app is awesome and can be customized from the ground up all in a light footprint.

I was ready to give this app five stars. I like the customization. But, when I received texts that had video clips, the app would not play any video clips. I had to switch to another messaging app to watch the clip. I emailed the developer two times, and never received a response. I'm sorry, but no response, no stars.

The app is extremely customizable and works well, for the most part. I have had the for a very long time. I frequently experience a bug where I tap on the notification for a new message, and the app will open 30 sec to a minute later. Also, deleting messages with images is not user friendly.

I really want to like this app for its unique features, and while it's usable, it's just too buggy. Scrolling in conversations is a little glitchy, when I clear a notification from the lock screen and then later unlock the phone the popup is still there, pictures don't always attach from external sources, and probably a few other little annoyances. Textra is much cleaner with similar features. I have a Pixel 5 so I don't think my phone is the problem.

Good app. Lots of customization settings like custom sounds per contact and the ability to schedule sending messages. A few times (over 2 month period) I sent a message and it didn't send. Instead it was still in my messages with the circular status icon moving to show that it was trying to send. If you paid attention to make sure your message sends you would notice if it didn't. I have it 4 stars because it barely happens and I can't be sure if it's the app or something else. Overall good app.

Great texting app! It takes a little doing to figure out how things work in this app. I get the feeling I could get as granular level of control as I cared too... IF... I wanted to take on the learning curve. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars... is... I found there to be a ton of trial and error in my learning how to use it. Better labeling would be good. (Though I freely admit, that could be difficult in an international app... ) And I wish it had emotes! (I know... First World Problems.)

Good app. Only one I've looked over the last year that has chat head with transparent background so it doesn't really interfere with what's on the screen when texting. Haven't been able to copy and paste text though in chat head, you have to open up the message within the app. Can be a pain but living with it

Some excellent features with some lost messages. Overall, this app works well and has worthwhile features like scheduled sending in the paid version. It does have a big problem in how it handles group MMS messages. I have a problem receiving messages automatically if I don't open the app every few hours. Every attempt to download the MMS fails until I clear the app cache and make a phone call. Likewise, I had someone point out I got no messages in a group thread for 12 hours.

Very good. We can start writing message without first choosing recipient. Thus, we can first look at the composed message without risk of accidentally sending it in a rage. Thus, we can have better relationships with our beloved ones. We can choose the colour of the notification LED (the one which glows when the screen is off and we have received a message). We can have reminders (e.g. another sound/vibration every 10 minutes). Useful when we were not near our phones when messaged. Thank you.

Extraordinary app. I've been looking for a texting app that gives me the control over how my texting app looks and this app exceeds my profound expectations. While Samsung and Apple are to busy constraining and removing features from their texting apps this app excels in giving users the ability to define their own app screen. Additionally, it's fast and responsive; however, there is a slight hesitation/stuttering when scrolling through a conversation that contains photos, gifs..etc but it's very minor and in no way interferes with the usability or function this app earns my 5 star rating.

I love this app so much. Easy to use, fast, beyond customizable. Only issue I have is with group messaging. Despite turning on the system over legacy mms setting, wifi fixes, and both manually and automatically changing and adjusting the APNs, I can send group messages but am not receiving them consistently. It seems to work when some people and not with others even within the same group message. Please please PLEASE fix this so i can go back to using YAATA. I hate not being able to use it.

Ive been using YAATA for almost 5 ½ to 6 years and I honestly don't see myself ever wanting to use another sms/mms application. I know there's been a lot going on with companies like Verizon, AT&T, Google, Android, and others (I think? LoL) to adapt to a new way of messages being sent.. really it's all over my head, and they should disallow every texting/messaging application besides YAATA. It's reliable, doesn't take up much storage space at all, and super customisable. It's a MUST HAVE for me!

Great SMS app. Has all the features and customization I was looking. There seems to be a bug when I open the app it takes a second for the contact pictures to load. I figure it would just stay saved. But other than that I am extremely happy with this app and it works well.

Absolutely Superb..! Extremely functional, highly configurable. The pictures posted don't do the app any justice, I actually over looked at first. Go ahead & install it, I did and I cannot believe the functionality..! Worth 3x the price. Minor issue is cannot insert pic directly from camera (show's blank; yes, checked all permissions); Samsung A51 5g; Also no easy way to donate again :D Hope update arrives soon -Thanks..!..

The pro is disappointing. 1. After adding 2 to favorite and 10 to blocked conversation, it adds messages of conversation other than the one selected to be added. In addition, the conversation is not removed from the list. In short, it is realy mess. 2. Can not filter by date range.

Tremendous customisation! Happy to support a 1-man operated app. A few ideas: Voice Memos in chats are quite limited. Which is a big deal @ least for me&friends. Some apps I've seen pop up it's own media sliders for VMs. Just an idea. Lastly, + default&custom wallpapers 2 individual chats pls! UPDATE: Over the last few weeks I've stopped being able to open videos sent to me from other people. Very annoying. Also it's been failing to download A LOT of messages, mainly group chat messages.
