Complete with realistic goals I have been using the app for some years, on and off. It takes me more than 6 weeks to finish the program, but I get there, nicely and efficiently. Fits really well for me, I am not a muscle or fitness madman, I just want to be in a nice shape and it works.
Prior to this recent update I would have given this app a 5. The new interface is not good. Stats... where's the line graph? My biggest complaint is the name change. I was on week 5 and the app just disappears. The old interface was incredibly simple and intuitive. This update was a miss in my opinion. Update - I still liked the old interface better, but now that I'm used to it it's ok. Oh... and I found the graph so I'm happier. Now if I can just get back to week 5 again.
A few too many limitations especially if you've been using it for as many years as I have. 1. If you enter a set wrong you can't edit it, have to delete the whole day and re-enter. 2. You can't change the default set numbers. After I was able to do week six day three I kept going and can do almost double those numbers but there is no way to enter new targets. 3. You have to change the timing every single day. I use 60s between sets and it would be nice to set that permanently. 4. You can't enter more than 100 for any set. Today I did 105, 80, 75, 70, 60 but it wouldn't let me enter the first set so I had to add five to the second. 5. Others may differ but I was up to a total of 300 before I could do 100 in one set, and that's way beyond the requirements for the hardest day on this app. Even now where I've done up to 390 and average around 360, some days I don't make it to 100 on the first set.
Does what it describes pretty darn well. Fairly intuitive and easy to use. It has the sense it was built by someone who either uses it themself or takes customer feedback. Also, you can clearly see progress of you stick to it. It's a great quarantine routine. Only suggestion: Makes the grab a function over time. Don't evenly space out each date point. If there is a two week gap between workouts, that should be seen on the line graph.
To the point and excellent. One complain I have is that it doesn't have any guides for form of a workout. Even hyperlinks to YouTube videos would be acceptable. Please add a screen for each exercise to show the perfect form for it. And for God's sake don't ruin the app (like how others have) by adding weird creepy stick figure animations! Links to YouTube videos would be more than sufficient! Thanks. Also, I bought pro for this app -- worthy purchase to not be distracted by the ads.
I checked it out a few days ago and found it well designed, ads were not getting in the way and were popping up during rest, when I even watched some. Unlocking all workouts was 3€ and I considered purchasing, even though there are free alternatives. Two days later came an update, which wants 5€/ month and 30 a year?! Dude, you are out of your mind. This is not a personalized coach, this is a timer app with sets number in between, like all the rest!
For me, my experience with this app was like this: I did the first training to see how many push-ups I can do without rest, I got a program and I did the first day. Next hour, I tried opening the app, it froze. I force closed the app, still freezing. I restarted my phone, the same outcome. Reinstalling the app fixed the problem, but again, after I opened it the first time, the second time still froze. Please fix the app, 'cause it's a good app but the freezing makes it impossible to use. Thanks!
A hockey teamate recommended this to me, and I gave it a shot. Another friend suggested a workout plan that mirrors what's in the app which is a great sign. I don't know how to train but this is helping me figure that out and I've made noticeable progress each time, even when I fail workouts and have to try again next time. The UX is great and I'm really impressed, keep it up!
I love the app and I've had it since the pro version came out few years ago. The app is great and there are really no complaints except that they changed it to a subscription instead of one time purchase. My point is that if the training program would be 6 months minimum and act as a personalized coach, it'd make sense, but theoretically you can finish all the goals in just 6 weeks (it's in the name) so why would I want a monthly or yearly subscription?
This app is fine until week three where it diverts from the reality of what progress is achievable. It uses a basic formula to calculate how many reps you do each set. This is fine at the start but can't be maintained for the majority of us who aren't naturals at push ups when we hit our limits. The app has no tool for recognising when you can't hit the reps in a set and therefore is unable to recalculate recommended reps moving forward. Im sure there is an app that is more effective than this.
Great progress app however really clunky if you accidentally start or finish the set your on. There seems to be no way to go back. The app either makes you finish the workout sets. Also it would be even better if you could choose different excercises or custom make one using the same calculated method. or delete it and start from scratch.
I used to use this app years ago when i was younger to get in shape and help with that the pro version was great! but now that its a subscription im kinda at a loss for what to do because quarentine made me pick back up the weight. I'll just have to find an older version on one of my older phones that hasnt updated it yet.
I'd give it 5 stars without ads. This app is a convenience. Its nice to have it on the phone, but I'm not going to pay for something the book or printout can accomplish. Having a commercial after every workout is better than it happening every time I open it, but it still makes me want to uninstall it on some days.
Right, so the free version is just one area, push ups. I just did the test. I can't get in contact with the devs from the app. So then my observations are here: The small counter button is right next to the large "Compete" one. If anything they should be the opposite with the counter being big, better yet make the number into a big "button" so one's nose could touch it and add one too the count. I'll see how the training is.
It's a good planner and tracker, but with obvious bugs. The rest timer adds 30 seconds to each new day. The rest timer stops if you leave the screen to somewhere else in the app, too. It's a nice little goal setter, though.
the timer is reset if any notifications are received or if you open notification bar, it is impossible to perform the plank exercise. And timer doesn't work if you minimize the application. It's not clear why they are asking for such money for a subscribtion - minimum of functionality that just doesn't really work.
Bought the 1 time purchase for this app, come back and now find the entire thing has just turned in a "lite" version. There are better and free apps out there. Update: I won't remove my initial review for self accountability. I was in a bad mood when I made the review. Apologies for the gruffness in it. I recently did the restore purchases as you suggested, and it worked. Not only did it work I actually had access to all the new workouts in there. I appreciate the help!!
This is an above average workout app. I have been using it off and on for a few years now in conjunction with others. As an owner of the premium version I was a little upset by the recent subscription model update but, the additional features are a great improvement. They allow you to tweak many details of the workouts to your preferences. The developers have clearly put in a lot of hard work on the new updated version. Look forward to seeing what else they are thinking of doing down the road.
Great app. Best of it's kind. Don't mind the paid subscription either. My only request is that Id like to see more bodyweight exercise options. Front levers, back levers, planches, toes 2 bar, muscle ups etc. If you add these new challenges regularly I think the paid subscription will be worth it.
Another example of an app removing features for paid customers after they switch to freemium business model. They say I can unlock my premium featurs but the login system is broken and all I see is an error message. App was good a few years ago, but I wouldn't pay monthly for these features.
Seems too easy but results are greater than expected.
Reminders are unreliable, sometimes they send a notification and sometimes they don't. Bit of a wishlist; I'd like the ability to superset two or more exercises together, and the option to add custom exercises with specified goals.
App wont let me do the test. I cant input the number. This makes app useless. The format for my phone is also messed up.
