15 FREE Paleo Dessert Recipes

Congratulations on embarking or thinking about starting your Paleo Diet journey!
In my experience, the decision to go on the Paleo diet has been the best thing I have done for me.

Before I get ahead of myself, my name is Alfie Mueeth, I am a Biochemist and my speciality is nutrition and diet. I try and test ways and means to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable manner and observe the short term effects and long term effects of certain diets. You name it, I have tried it from the Atkins to the Dukan. More on me and the Paleo Diet below

I, like most of us in the world have a sweet tooth and I am a self confessed chocaholic and my biggest worry before I started on the Paleo Diet was I was afraid I would give in to my sweet cravings and have to feed the monster. So after a lot of research and bending the Paleo rules (sorry Paleo extremists), heres 15 Paleo desserts designed to satisfy all our sweet cravings and still stay on track.

I was introduced to the Paleo diet in 2004 after stumbling upon Dr. Eaton's paper (widely regarded as the person who started the whole Paleo movement back in 1985 when this paper was published). From a scientific point of view, this all made sense. The premise was that eat as our ancestors from the Paleolithic era did and you will experience the benefits
-

1. Balanced Energy Levels (as harmful grains are cut out, you wont experience massive gains and drops in your energy)

2. Stable Blood Sugar (studies have proved that this stabilises your blood sugar level by cutting harmful carbs)

3. Burn Off Stored Fat (burn excess fat which becomes an energy source when easy digest carbs are limited

4. Efficient Workouts (this protein led diet has no shortage of sexy amino acids to supercharge your workout and see results faster)

5. Clear Skin And Better Teeth (cut out all the impurities and processed crap from your diet and you will have better teeth and clearer skin)

6. Anti-Inflammatory And Reduced Allergies (same as above, once you cut out crap, you cut out allergies. Our ancestors didn't have allergies)

7. Improved Sleep (steering clear away from harmful stimulants, additives and crap from processed foods aids restful sleep patterns)

8. Relief From Diseases (once you remove impurities from your diet, your immune system strengthens and you are far less likely to get diabetes)

9. Feel F’ing Good! (you will never be able to shut about your new lifestyle and spend more time naked admiring yourself :))

Why was this the case?

Simple really, we had been eating a diet consisting of mainly meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds for over 2.5 million years. Our bodies and DNA have had time to adapt to these food stuffs and develop the necessary enzymes and digestive processes for these.

Agriculture comes along a mere 10,000 years ago (tool records) and brings on grains, legumes, sugar and all the modern processed crap. Our bodies have not had the time to adapt to these new food stuffs and cant keep up with the rate at which these are being introduced into the world.

Evolution is a slow process and takes time (sometimes over a million years). Maybe one day we may be able to adapt ourselves to digest sugar until then, modern food these days and all the processed crap are the leading cause of modern day ailments such as Heart Disease, Diabetes and Obesity.
