1611 King James Bible

This is the original 1611 King James Bible with Apocrypha
No internet connection needed.

If you miss old version you can find it in my apps: 1611 King James Bible Version

The King James Bible is the most printed book in the history of the world. Any so-called “1611” King James Version you buy today at the local Christian Bookstore is absolutely NOT the 1611. .. it is the 1769 Baskerville Birmingham revision, even though it admits that nowhere, and may even say “1611” in the front… it’s just not true. Prepare to be shocked! The spellings have been revised, and some words changed, in almost every printing done since 1769, and fourteen entire books plus extra prefatory features have been removed from almost every printing done since 1885!

The 1611 King James Bible was writen more than four hundred years ago when the English language was different. The original 1611 A.D. text, written in Early Modern English, shows the language in closer association with its Latin roots. Spelling was in Jacobean style which was not entirely standardized, but could be read phonetically. The original typeface was in Gothic style. Although both the typestyle and the older language may be considered difficult to read by some 21st Century English readers, the King James Version is recognized and respected for its beauty, cadence, and poetic feel.

English spelling differences in John 3:16
- U = V (Example: loued = loved; gauve = gave)
- y with 'e' above it was used as represent the 'thorn' character, which means 'the')
- nn (Sonne = Son)Other spelling differences
- V = U (Example: vnto = unto | See John 1:11)
- VV = W (Example: svvord = sword) [The V was called a 'U', this is why we still call a W a 'double U']
- I = J (Example: Iesus = Jesus | See John 1:17)
- Long "s" letters look similar to "f" letters (Notice the 'Old Testament' type example on the right)

You use to have a better version. I believe when out to share the WORD of GOD you would want someone just trying to get into the Word to be comfortable and at peace trying to remove anything that's a distraction. Especially going between chapters or enlarging the font. It inconsiderate of my time to use, but if I was showing a beginner the thought is drawing them in to keep them interested.

Love this app! I have read the Bible several times but this gives a fresh feel to my reading. I also enjoy reading the books that have been removed in our modern version. I love being able to highlight in 4 different colors, add notes, and bookmarking. The only thing I haven't seen is an ability for audible.

Even though I paid to remove adds, they still keep popping up. It's a great app and yes the spelling is correct for the year 1611. To those who think otherwise are used to the later editions with updated English. Once you fix the pop-up add problem, I will give the app 5 stars.

It's so nice to have the 1611 King James version available. Navigating through the Bible is very easy. It has a good search function. It's surprising to see the old spelling of the words. I like the audio but wish it could recognize the Early Modern English spellings and convert to today's pronunciation.

A rendering of the original Middle English of the 1611 KJB. I have not had time to determine if capitalizations are the same as the original, but it is way easier to read for me than the original typeface. There are adds at the bottom, but with my tall LG V60 I barely notice them.

Really enjoyed this app until recently. It keeps crashing as of the last few days. I have a lot of notes written with certain scriptures so I'm afraid to uninstall because I don't want to lose any information. I paid for the ad free version so does that back anything up?

I love reading the old translation of the Bible. It inspires me. This app comes with tools which make study much like using a hard copy of the Bible. Features like bookmarks and highlight capabilities using various marker colors personalize the experience.

So far, so good! I have a little struggle with understanding the old spelling and dialect of old english(?), but it has some of the missing books of the bible that have a lot of great info within them! I recommend it for every seeker of the whole truth to get a copy of this eternal word of Yah! 👍✌👋😎

Most excellent app! Some of the words have endings reminding me of Elizabethan English style as in reading Beowolf or Geoffrey Chaucer's other works in English literature. Way more important than this though, it is God's Word to us and this lively style of language enhances the reading and study experience! Thank you for providing this one.-Rev. Tomi Thompson

I like it, and for the old English I can still read it. It is great for cross reference to newer bibles. It is nice to read how it came out in 1611. The king james we have was modified in 1769, as the version we have fails to have the apocryphal books. I understand very much why but I can at least read it if I want to. 1611 English is not so far off from us today. So I am happy.

1/14/21 I truly hoped to get an accurate 1611 bible app. There are sooo many mispelled words and the woman reading mispronounces simple words such as doeth. Do-eth. Say-eth.etc. This is very wrong! The WORD OF GOD THE MOST HIGH MUST BE RESPECTED!!! The audio works n other features are ok. But how is it that no one can see all those big mistakes? I know it's free but, please! This is too important to keep messing up. Please make corrections.

Just downloaded it. The audio is horrible. Too fast, monotone, and doesn't pronounce words correctly. Cool feature though, but i find the audio very annoying.

I'm very appreciative of the Books that aren't included in most modern translations. The app also allows for quick transition from book, chapter, to specific verse.

Interesting to find how the old English spelling and dialect has develope to the new, though I struggle to understand the spelling used. But the good thing is that it retains the original substance of the message and remained a refernce book of the truth of all time. Thanks and God Bless you all.

This Bible has an easy access to the index. Which provided a quick access to the scriptures. The clarity of the text is good. A good Bible especially when at church or group study.

So great to be able to have easy access to the 1611 King James on my phone. Really like how I can underline and highlight verses. Would like to be able to expand the text at times in low light.

I love it but I don't like that the Lords words are not in red letters. I only use it for cross references at this point. It is unberable with ads but I paid for the the ad free option and so I will keep it now.

Thanks for providing the 1611 KJV in the form of an app! Being able to make highlights and notes is definitely an added bonus. P.s. For anyone who believes there are spelling errors, compare what is written here to images of the actual leaflets in the 1611 King James Bible and try to find anywhere it doesn't match up to how it's written in the app. Educate yourself.

There are a lot of spelling errors, to the point it doesn't make sense when listening to it. Love the idea and the books at the end were of interest to me but too many errors.

I like the old English and its natural flow and the added advantage of reading the apocrypha in my favorite Bible Version! I believe you will be able to make some of the features automatic! God bless you!

I've just started reading from the 1611 KJV. The old writing makes me try to understand it by not only, first looking up modern spelling, other words, and getting past some of the differences, it motivates me to keep on reading and studying the Word of God. Second, it shows me that there is a spirit with the word in the understanding of it. I hope I gave it proper credit, for I am not a writer. I'm like a child learning how to tie his shoes for the first time.

Great app. The old queens english language usage can be a bit confusing. However you get use to the way the words are written, or spelled out, it's interesting and I like it.

Ery. F. Jun 2, 2019

I love this app. I am able to quickly check and/or read any KJV Bible verse as well as the Apocrypha (which I am planning on purchasing to have a copy for myself). I can also highlight a scripture as I do with my personal Bible. I would definitely recommend.

I like how easy to browse around and that I can highlight and add comments and these are saved, functioning offline - as understood to create a backup and to keep these records if I get a new phone I need to allow access to my phone - upgrading to ad-free is below £3
