I cannot open the progs I downloaded unless I download them through the app. However, I often cannot find the progs I have bought because the app doesn't list them. It's seems to be designed by people who have no clue what is necessary to run a successful app such as comixology etc. The content available is incredible. The digital quality of the books is outstanding. Reading it through the big TV screen is fantastic...if only you could access it properly. Please fix it. 2000ad is worth it!!
I have had problems with this app, problems with updates and realising my subscription has been renewed. I have contacted Rebellion and Caty has been quick to respond. We have exchanged several emails and they have been extremely sympathetic and proactive in response. A new version of the app is being released shortly which will hopefully work better for me on my phone.
There is an incredible range of content to choose from. However, the app definitely needs some work. It's clunky and slow to respond. You often have to open/shut down/reopen the app a few times in order for your subscriptions and purchases to appear. Reading comics in the app can be slow and unresponsive too.
This app is brilliant for purchasing and reading digital graphic novels at a fraction of the price of the hard copies. It just misses out on the 5 stars because I have on the odd occasion had problems with the server when it has failed to download a purchase, admittedly the help team did rectify the problem but it is still an inconvenience.
*Update* solution, kinda. so the app doesn't function on amazon fire tablets. But when I asked rebellion for tech help they were open and confirmed it doesn't work but have no way around it. However, they did suggest saving the progs from my android phone and transferring them across to the tablet to read. Which does work. I now download a bunch all at once to copy across and read. Not ideal, but it works.
Is this app compatible with tablets at all? Just downloaded onto a Sony Z4 and although the app opens, there is no content and nothing appears on any of the 4 options across the bottom. Really very disappointing, all the other comic apps work find on tablets. Current version is also very slow to acknowledge that the user is already logged in and subscribed (on phone, where it "works")
Significantly inferior on Android compared to iOS, unfortunately. On the iOS version, there's an unread flag (there isn't here) and you can filter the library to show either "All" (which is the *only* view on Android), "Downloaded", "Purchased" or "Not Purchased" comics / books. It's impossible to tell from opening the Android app what's actually downloaded and what's read and unread. Really disappointing.
I love the comic and the annoying thing is this app used to be good. I was using this really happily until the 'facelift' last month and since then I have had the same bug as others where it tells me I don't have enough space even though I have loads. I contacted Rebellion but was just send the generic FAQs that do not apply to this issue and I very clearly set out the problem. Very frustrating - please Rebellion fix this and go back to being a great app.
New version seemingly doesn't have tablet layout in the info screen anymore; instead of the nice typography, the info is in a single column designed for phones, even when running on a tablet. Now has added irritating banner carousel animation which can't be switched off. Quality of the comics is great, as always, of course but this 'refreshed' app feels like a step backwards.
This is not a rating on Tharg's output which remains as stellar as ever. But this App has problems: 1. Every time I open the app it has 'forgotten' that I'm a subscriber to the prog and the Meg; sometimes to both, sometimes just the Prog. I then have to log out/in several times to get it to recognise my subs. 2. If I read an issue go back to home and try to open another issue it fails to open - the 'read' button is unresponsive. Come on guys - please make this a better experience!
Edit: this app now has a Library tab! Yay! 😂 Great content (*****), but app has middling usability and missing some key features. Still needs Search function, so you can just type in, say, "Nemesis" to find all Nemesis The Warlock content (appreciate this is technically hard). Also needs Dark Theme and ability to save .cbz to SD card to save space in internal storage, but it's really coming along. Keep it up devs! Soon it will be up there with comiXology (but better because it's 2000AD) 😊
Would like to be able to set my own level of zoom in landscape mode rather than it always filling the screen. Would also be great if you could fast-swap to the previous week's episode of the same story (and back again) - my memory needs the help these days!
As an app this is *almost* zarjaz - great range of comics and graphic novels on sale, often cheaper than other digital stores, and usually cheaper cheaper than the hardcopy counterparts - what holds it back is the lack of a decent library function to quickly and easily access your downloaded content, otherwise it would be an easy 5 stars
Comic content is fantastic, however, it's been over a year since the "Restore Purchases" button worked properly. I have to log onto the website, and manually download each issue in order to read them. The app really needs a redesign.
App is slow, crashes and won't let me download previously purchased content. From other feedback it appears this has been a known issue for quite some time. Come on Rebellion get your act together. I was thinking of re-subscribing through the app. Not now.
Refuses to show my subscriptions or store purchases. Forced to use the web and download comics to a reader app. Still only marginally less useful than the website with its broken log in and weekly redesigns. It's honestly a good job they print some really good books. If this was my first intro to 2000AD and The Meg I'd struggle to recommend anything from the publisher of this completely un-useable piece of trash app.
New look and feel - great, new experience - unusable. The app has had a facelift, which is looking good, but when I try to read my issues I am told I dont have enough space despite having an abundance on botb internal and sd card memory. Have resorted to dumping the app and downloading from the website. A real pity.
Took a while (days) for Google to communicate the payment for the subscription to the app. And even after I could access my subscriptions the app has no library function to help me navigate my purchases. It's a pretty awful app. The comics are still great but the app does not belong in 2000 AD. It barely belongs on CFax circa 1980.
Upated review. Struggled for a while trying to download new and old purchases after the update. Emailed 2000 AD support who were quick to get back to me, however couldnt figure out why items werent downloading. Eventualy i managed to get everything downloaded after signing out and back into my account. Had almost given up so saved in the nick of time. App still needs a purchase libary section so that you dont have to search through the entire store everytime you want to read something.
The app needs work but the customer service is very good. As of the April update every time I purchase anything it has to be followed up with an email to have the purchase manually unlocked. Do to the money being taken from my account, but the app stating it failed.
Recently downloaded the app as been a big fan of 2000ad for years. Downloaded Skizz to read but every time I start reading it the app closes and restarts itself. I think I've manage 5 pages in a row at most in one attempt. So peed off.
4 stars. I REALLY wanted to give it 5, but... 1. where's my library? Not having a "my library" section just seems...odd. 2. I'd really like a section that contains my subs. and purchases...like, say, a library. 3. i feel like the addition of an easy to find tab for a section of the app. that exists solely to make finding my purchased materials easier would be pretty cool. I wonder what such a thing would be called?
Absolute pants. You'd think that you'd be able to download content you purchased on your account to your phone.... Nope! After relogging in purchases are not in account. You have to navigate to the store page which is still pants but have adjusted rating up.
I've had to uninstall and reinstall the app twice in 3 days just to be able to logon and read my subs! The app is just too inconsistent and unstable to use sensibly. I hope this app doesn't make me reconsider subscribing as I love 2000AD. Right now I can't access what I've paid for so very unhappy. Wonder if there will be any response to this.....
It was pretty much screen shots of the pages. Look at the Marvel app, kindle and others where you can scroll through panels. This app leaves alot to be desired (plus the copies they sell in the app are cheaper on Kindle and can be read panel by panel).
I wanted to know Judge Dredd beyond the movies and this was the cheapest deal i could find on the Complete Case Files. Can't resell or properly loan out the comics, but they also don't take up any shelf space. 99% looks great, sometimes the two page spreads don't piece together seamlessly and occasionally a comic will look a bit pants, but I suspect the print quality of the original rag to be the culprit.
It's great to be able to get 2000AD, Judge Dredd and my favourite Sláine, fairly easy to navigate, although there's no search bar, but I've found the app to be a bit glitchy, kicking me out half way through reading, not loading correctly and books stuck downloading over and over again, have had to reinstall the app after only a few hours of use, hopefully some updates will fix these issues though, cos there's heaps of content here.
