Good collection of routes but the app really lacks filtering options. E.g., I can find climbing sectors with trad routes (using filters on the map) but i can't filter only trad routes within the sector. Also there's no way to filter for overhanging routes or roofs.
It needs proper notification categories. For example, I cannot mute notifications "new topo added in your area..." without muting other notifications from the app.
The app is very easy to use and the topos are always automatically with you in your mobile phone anywhere you go. The tick list function is very good and useful. It helps you to remember where you have climbed, what and when. It is possible to leave comments for the route in your tick list for anybody to see, so you can also find out some very useful information about the route from there. Maps are working very well. With them it is easy to find the crag, the right sector and also the parking place for the car. I have used premium crags now for 2 years and it is superb!
I was looking at this app and it's site in preparation for a trip to a world-class area in Spain. Both led me to believe that there were great photos and topos and lots of helpful information. After I subscribed, there are exactly zero topos, almost no photos, and a small amount of videos. The videos don't open in the app, so don't expect offline access. But the ads are still there!
Great app and very responsive development team!! The interface is easy and intuitive to use, with many good features. There are a lot of crags listed in my local area, and it is still growing. Had a few issues a while back, but got great feedback when contacting support, and the bugs were dealt with quickly in a new update.
App helps to find to the routes and provides nice view for lines. Best that I have seen by far, and often more usable than topo books. Downloading the topos for offline use to save data usage or when outside of network coverage is useful. Ticklist and todo are nice features too, as is commenting. There are though few big problems: 1. Most serious one: Ascent and todo lists are usable only if there is online connection. If you are out of network coverage, lists info is not updated to the web service. What is even worse, the app deletes offline added ascents and todos from the app cache if you log out and back in to the app, and replaces them with lists available in web version. 2. Finding to a specific route does not seem to be possible, because route view does not provide directions to a specific sector. So when you do not know in what sector of crag containing multiple sectors the route is, you have to click through sector pins in map view until you find the one containing the preferred route. 3. Route directions to crag does not have waypoints, so Google Maps might raffle you a route, that does not take you where you want to go (e.g.: Rockland's "8 day rain" crag from South dir.)
Very good app. Have been a loyal subscriber for years. Has eliminated many times the need to search for a climbing / book store on site and enabled finding a crag on the go as plans change. The limitation is that the app does not include all the crags in the world and routes in some crags are only partially described giving wrong impression on the size of the crag. I assume that as time goes by the app becomes even wider and deeper.
Very nice app in many ways.. But the previus version I had installed (about a year ago) was visually more simple and enjoyable to look at compared to the latest patch which has too much roundness everywhere. For example the grade diagrams were more pleasant to look at with the solid colour sharp edged look. My greatest wish is that I could go back to the older version I had installed. Is there any way to do that? You must have the .apk for the older version somewhere?
The content of the app is precious to boulderers, especially bin Finland. The user experience leaves a lot to be desired. When I subscribed in the app, the paid subscription was activated on a wrong account. Customer support was quick and friendly, but still a pretty major glitch. UI streamlining suggestion: Route lists could have more functionality instead of only directing to route details page.
Great app but it lacks some important features. Make it possible to add new pictures and routes in the app. Encourage users to provide a picture of the climb if the route has no picture when they log their ascent. Support many pictures for a route and let the users vote for the best one which will become the default picture. Make it possible to filter för DWS. With these features the app would become a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and the available content would increase quickly.
Nice app, especially for Scandinavia. I just would love to be able to buy single premium Topos and then you have them for ever instead of paying monthly. It works for vertical life as well and I actually think more people would like that way better and would pay also more. So maybe change that? Big areas like bleau could be of course then a little bit more expensive, but smaller crags cheaper. Otherwise I'm satisfied with the app 😊
I really like the look of the app and the fact it has photos of a lot of the routes/boulders and lines drawn on the photos to show you exactly where the routes are. Unfortunately there are hardly any routes in Scotland at all, most of the main climbing crags are missing and there are almost no trad routes listed in Scotland.
It's a nice app in many ways but the UX would benefit of some tender loving care. Navigation between views is often a bit unintuitive or clunky requiring too many taps. There's an annoying bug with the topos being reversed in the app even though the order is correct on the web site. Showing ads to subscribers is meh. With less bugs might give 4 stars and with a smoother and ad-free ux might even be a 5 star app since the overall idea and content are great!
**** because of the very detailed maps of crags access (better than anyrbing I've seen seen before) BUT even popular areas are missing a lot of ths routes and in most occasions pictures and detailed topo is missing. Hopefully its a question of time before the app gets up to speed to compete with a good old guidebook.
Of course, due to the amount in the world, there is much info missing, but the amount of info there is, is very impressive and helpful. Being able to locate different problems from the map to actual photos with route lines is awsome. I love it.
Really great idea, this is exactly what's missing! But the app would spread much faster, if non-premium users could add topos and routes, too. I have a lot of topos I would upload but I don't want to get a premium account for that.
the navigation is awful. It doesn't respect common mobile standard. It is either difficult or impossible to: - see where your todos are on a map, or in the area you are in - browse all routes of a place by levels - predict what the back button will do
Navigation is bad and in general just not a user friendly experience. They show you ad's even though you paid for the service. Beta videos don't open straight in the app and many more issues.
Great app for climbing guidebooks. The gps functionality is really handy. You can also make your own topos straight in the app, so if your home crag is missing, it's a breeze to add it.
The move with strongly pushing (in reality forcing) free crags towards premium really turned me off this app. However if you have premium and hang out in places with most local areas available it is the best app I have seen for climbing.
Love your work!!! It's seriously one of the best things that has been created for the climbing community! Making it soo easy to get into climbing and keeping a record on climbs and progression etc! Thank you sooo much!
Great app for outdoors climbing. Just wish I had more time to climb. Some topos are behind the premium version, but some of the money seems to go to the topo maker which is fine.
I want to like this app and it can be useful but it's way too expensive... a subscription service for this app makes no sense as most people use it on vacation and then don't need it the rest of the year. Who wants to pay monthly for an app they only use occasionally? It was better when you could just purchase the areas you wanted. Also it freezes often and the map feature zooms out constantly.
