Dont get this app or their drones. All the phones during and after 2019 dont work with this app. At least for samsung. I have a Samsung s9 and every time I turn on my drone and connect to the drones wifi to be able to see what my gopro sees, the app crashes. It doesnt work. I'm a photographer and I was very happy to get a gopro and get drone shots using the 3DR solo app with my Samsung s9. After I drove an hour from home I tried connecting to my drone and the app kept crashing.
this definitely needs to be updated it's a shame that you need this app to fly. especially if you need an update when you try to update it won't connect to your controller anymore. every time my turn on my Wi-Fi the app shut off. so I can't connect to the controller.
It takes a bit to connect but once you do it works fine. Just keep your screen on or it will disconnect from the camera. Ya it only works on older phones but you can buy a dirty old greasy phone from the web and just use it for your drone. That's what I did. Cheers maties!!
Really wish the makers of the 3dr solo would have an app that's better than a third party app like solex. Really wish I could turn off the led lights without spending $30 on an app. Seems 3dr made an amazing drone and totally failed on the release and now have just given up on it completely.
App wont connect phone to solo wifi and when i try it says internet might not be available and crashes the app. So i cant even do my preflight update. I have already factory reset everything. And software is up to date but i cant connect to do preflight update.
App used to work flawlessly, limited advanced controls but regardless worked great with 3DR. as of Feb 2019 the app consistently crashes upon connection to wifi. using my drone for work this is more than just an inconvenience...
Sadly 3DR has stopped doing updates for this app and it does not work with my Pixel 2 XL with latest Android build. It will work until you connect to Solo then it immediately crashes. Kinda sad that it left me embarrassed. I had my old Moto phone and will use it. Not happy
app does not work with new Android. i have pixel 3. Got ready to fly it for the first time using my pixel and it asked for an app update. Once updated it crashed everytime upon opening. Now i can't fly it.
crashes immediately upon opening. This app hasn't been updated since September 1, 2016 and should be updated; especially since this is the only way to fly without spending more money on a 3rd party app. If they cared, they would have this up to date.
As many people have discovered, 3DR Solo is not currently manufactured; therefore the app is out of date and you need to run an OLDER PHONE OR TABLET. I installed the app today on my Galaxy S8. It works fine just like it did when I purchased the drone 3+ years ago. I love this drone and hate that 3DR dropped the consumer market for the commercial end. :(
I guess since 3dr has given up on the Solo maybe I should as well. App worked great until I upgraded to Android P, now it just crashes. And since other apps rely on the Solo app for functionality, they no longer work either.
Can't connect to the ( Solo WiFi with app) App seems to work on certain phones but Default Wi-Fi password won't work... Please fix . This is a 5 star app when I can connect to WiFi like it should.
Bought my cousins solo and never been able to enjoy it because app crashes on android as soon as it comes up, drone or remote is powered it seems. Is 3DR going to buy back product from people never got to use or fix their software trade out functional? Very surprised and upset I even open claim 2 weeks ago....nothing. If nothing happens period I will be taking action it's not the money it's that fact of making sure your product is reliable it's not a phone that just gets outdated in 10 days.
thought the drone and software was amazing until the company decided that keeping up with a mass consumer product they produced was no longer worth it. Glad to see a company flat out disrespect their clientele that they went through a mass media/marketing campaign to obtain. Loved my solo drone, loved the app and the way everything worked, hate that the company went a more enterprise/commercial route. Used its consumer product based clientele to do bulster its finances to leave us hanging
Give it 5 stars for it to be back and functional. IDK exactly why it works now heard it's only with android (always only used android) but it's good to have the app for the hardware. Although i did have to buy Solex app back when 3dr app was abounded, but nevertheless I like that it works again. People don't drop the rating pls, at 1 or 2 stars it might be taken off the market and it's still kicking appearantly.
works fine with Android 8.0. crashes with android 9.0 or higher. had to dig my Galaxy S7 out of the drawer because my Note 9 wasnt compatible.
It just works. 3 years after the last update you can still start it up and go. I am aware there is a 3rd party app out there, however for me the cost does not add any features i use. I also found the userbase a little acidic.
The app isn't updated because they went commercial. It did work good at the time. Now you need to download solex. It cost a little but it works. And it's worth it.
This company wont help you if you have technical issues. Poor customer service. This app never worked with my note 9. I contacted customer service they said they couldnt help me cuz they only help customers that are within 1 yr of purchasing their products. Good luck if you need help. Im never buying from these people again and ill continue to tell everybody i know about what they can expect from this company.
Just so people know, this app is compatible with Oreo and older. It is not compatible with Pie or newer. Luckily, I still have a Samsung galaxy s8 which is still Oreo so I can keep using the app. It's DOA on my newer Galaxy S10+.
dont use. They havent updated it since 2016 so it crashes as soon as i open it. Pretty much all 3dr solo drones are useless now. cant watch live footage or customize it in any way. because 3dr is too careless to update their old product. wish they would since now my drone investment is now a liability.
This app does not do ANYTHING that it is supposed to do. It doesn't even stay open to control the drone that it is designed to control. If you.are.going.to buy a drone, dont buy a Solo because you wont have a way to use it. It will sit on a shelf or get throwni to.traffic..
The app tells me it needs an update and will not run on a newer phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy 9 plus. I have two brand new 3dr solo drones. They Have never been flown. What am I going to do now?
I supposed just happening to me, the app closes everytime I m trying to use my 3dr drone with my cel s9+ android 10, I am disappointed :( App 3dr Solo need to be updated. This old 3dr app is not compatible with Android 9, 10 version
This app isn't being updated by the creator since the 3DR solo is no longer being manufactured. There are other apps that will control the drone with good reviews. I use my old S7 and it works fine
Using this app now, is well impossible, I just got a new Samsung phone, and the app keeps crashing, even with my old phone that I had, it couldn't even reinstall it. It worked well ago id say 10 months ago, but now it won't even run. My solo still flies great and has the last update, but if it says it needs an update, idk what to do. If heard rumors about this app getting discontinued, and it seems to be headed on that direction. Yes there's third party apps and firmware, but I'm no coder.
