511 San Diego

The 511 San Diego mobile application provides real-time access to traveler information supplied by Caltrans, MTS, and NCTD in partnership with the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG). Maps depict current traffic conditions and the latest incident and construction information on all interstates and state routes in the San Diego region. Enhanced information is available for the I-15 corridor, including real-time dynamic toll rates for the I-15 Express Lanes, predictive travel times, suggested alternative routes, congestion information, and special event information provided by Caltrans. Maps show locations of roadside cameras and allow users to view current camera images; maps also display MTS bus routes, fares, and arrival times. As the user moves through the roadway network, the map tracks the user’s location and provides optional text-to-speech and look-ahead speech commands for hands-free use while driving. Additional 511-related information is accessible through the application’s “more” menu, including links to the @SANDAG Twitter feed and webpages for local 511-related services.

You cannot trust the information on this app, way outdated. I wasted my time getting on a congested freeway just to see the hov only signs on even though the app quoted $1.50 for the trip. This app is completely useless.

Many cameras are non operational, or provide images from dates way in the past. Today no cameras are on the overlay. The app also indicates "major incidents" that are not reported on CHP s website nor other traffic sites. 6/24/15 Now today, NO cameras are available.

I've been using the app for 3 days now and twice the toll amount and HOV only status was not correct. I was literally a hundred yards from the toll sign and the app displayed HOV only, yet the sign said $0.80. Until this is fixed, I'm now hesitant to use it.

Like being able to click on a camera and see the traffic so I can see how heavy it is. Really like the voice announcement when you click on a traffic incident.
