I like this app, because it is simple, straight forward and people are usually really close by. I wouod put 5 stars, but I dislike the change to only being able to boost your items in the news feed a total of four times. I see how they wouldn't prefer it to be flooded constantly, by the same people, but maybe another idea wouold be to limit the amount of items at a time, we can boost, rather than the amount of times so low. Its only four hours each time...otherwise...its great. : )
It's better than Offer Up but it's slowly getting worse. the ads are really annoying as well as the bids. We now have to pay to "boost items" so many time dealers have their items listed on there first. they should have a complete separate tab for dealers. It was nice at first but with all these changes it's getting more difficult to sell and find stuff.
in my opinion this is probably the best or at least one of the very top "garage sale apps". Where you buy and sell with people in your area. This one just has better chat features, it's more user-friendly prices are on the very first picture you see. it's not really easy to accidentally send a message like it is and some other of these types of apps! all of your messaging is separated into buy category and sell category. it's just more convenient than the other ones like this.
The Bid section is simply annoying and useless. Also, it would be better if users could post the same item more than one time. It is totally not user friendly when you have to delete and post the same item again to increase views. It's easier to just post it and not worry about it if was there already. In contrast, I love that it lets you upload all the images at once and it is very easy to post items with just 3 steps.
5miles is a great app. I have bought a few things here and there both in the auction and from their local sellers. Even dealing with customer service is a breeze. They provide 5miles protection so that if an item is delivered defective or not quite what you thought you ordered you can get a full refund. No hassle Every now and then they throw you a free $5 credit to use in either setting and you can always earn more by inviting your friends. All in all it always seems to be a good experience.
I can't sell things if they get burried. Bring back the Boost feature. 5miles *was* the best. great customer service, easy to use....but 5miles dash eating up the screen was bad. then they look away the free boost option--cementing it as a follower instead of a leader. it was the last app with a free boost. 5miles sold out. I teach a class on bst apps and selling things online. I used to be able to show 5miles as set apart from other apps. no more. very discouraging. Uninstalled.
It works but there's 2 things that really bug me about this app. One huge problem with this app is that it destroys the image quality of the pictures you upload. This should be the one thing that should be taken care if everyone is relying on how a product looks. I'll give a better rating once you can upload images without them being blurry. Second is that you're only allowed 20 seconds to record at least one minute would be good.
I used to live this app, but it's completely changed. And IMO, not for the better. It no longer seems to be run/owned locally from Dallas. It feels mostly focused on the new auctions, which aren't from any local area, or even the US. It was once a neighborhood rooted system, and it was great. The description says it's free to boost items, but it hasn't been "free" for a while. After you list a new item, you get 4, and that's all. So your items go unpromoted unless you pay per each. = few sales!
I've had listings on here for months. Finally got a message today from someone who's 30 miles away and didn't bother to read listing title, description, or look at the pictures. In the middle of talking I get a minute long ad. Not worth it. I sell weekly with other local apps and FB Marketplace.
Its okay, after a while your items are buried even with the boost option. Unless you pay. The bid option is deceptive as it list a price for item which is no where near what it would cost if you purchased the item outright (googled and found for less at regular price). Items come from China which takes a lengthy time, none of this is provided at bid. Learned above from my mistake.
I would give this -5stars if I could. Ever since I've logged back into this app, the support button, along with the inability to respond to buyers/sellers, has been broken. Even my postings get 0 views; evidence that something is wrong. The end user, at the very least, should receive a notification (email, app, etc.) if there are still issues with their account. Please fix or, at least, respond to my emails when I have a question.
Bait and prevent on the 5 dollar credit. I was given a credit but when I won a bin dash and tried to pay for it, the system kept stating my password had changed. This was not resolved till after my 5 dollar credit expired. Customer support kept repeating once the credit expired at 72 hours it is gone...regardless if it is because they delayed the customer from being able to process the payment. Really backups the suspension that it was intentional.
It kinda works. I've had the app for quite some time now and it had worked great until yesterday. Up until that point the app was installed on my phones internal storage. then I moved it along with about fifteen other apps to my SD storage, and it seems to be the only one that is crashing repeatedly.
Complete b.s. I've won several bids now and Everytime I pay it's instantly cancelled. There are a lot of complaints online about this issue. I'm pretty sure they are either cancelled because I've won at too low of a price or they don't have the item at all. Either way very frustrating and if you use this app you are waisting your time. Oh and they steal the 5 dollar credit you get for signing up when this happens. I did submit a ticket before deciding to write the review, I was ignored.
I had previously given a ⭐⭐ rating because of an issue with redeeming points for an Amazon $20 egift card. I've changed it to 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ because their customer service is amazing and they remedied the situation promptly. Other than that, I haven't had any other issues. Like I mentioned previously, the auction and marketplace are awesome; I've gotten some cool stuff. You can also earn & redeem points for egift cards which is most definitely a plus; the point to dollar conversion rate is fair.
update: Thought some issues would change but no, only others added. After continually entering a distance I'm show items 50 miles away. Often not even what I wanted. lots of retail merchandise which I can get anywhere for the same price or less. Bidding is sketchy. No way to tell if it's actually a bot or a human raising the bid constantly. Way too busy with ads. Also has some coin system that's annoying, confusing and constantly popping up. Uninstalled
This app is garbage. I bought some things from the auction side of the app. All of them are cheap knock off products from China. One wasn't even the product I ordered. The watch I ordered is a full knockoff and the instructions with it are for a different watch. Also the delivery time was over 2 months on most items. Do not waste your time ordering anything on the auction, you will only be disappointed!
The listing/post appeared exactly as intended, and I am very pleased with the ease of negotiating/navigating this app. And, on a separate issue, a manufacturer defect (in an item that I purchased on Deal Dash) in an item resulted in a little frustration. However, once I spoke with the proper person at 5Miles, the purchase price was refunded. Great folks. Thank you!!
The Dash feature gives you a chance to buy some unusual things very inexpensively. Be very careful. The written descriptions of the products are often ambiguous and inaccurate, possibly due to the poor translation from the Chinese language. I have been disappointed several times because of the seller's poor description of the products features.
It's a good app but starts out with some stupid ad that shows "skip in 5 secs" but if you tap that, it skips automatically. Reason for the one star is that it no longer gives me alerts when I have an interested buyer. So I have to keep checking every so often but sometimes its hours later and that can cost a sale. Also on the customers end, it dont alert them. I know this because it says when your response is read.
Think twice before installing it!! The app is a explosion of ads, too many!! But that is the least important thing, I had the app installed only one day and then changed my mind and unstalled it but then I started to received texts messages of alleged buyers, I had to install it again to search about how I can delete my account, and let me tell you IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE... I'm in waiting list to solve this inconvenient!! Please save yourself the bad time!!
they used to allow sellers to boost (refresh) listings every 4 hours an unlimited amount of times but now (without any notice) you can only boost an item 4 times total. After that, you either have to pay to feature your item or delete and repost it. The unlimited boost feature was the primary reason I used 5miles over offer up but now that's gone, I'll move back to offer up. It was good while it lasted but per usual, making money always out weighs user satisfaction
Seems like a phishing scheme when trying to redeem your coins for rewards. Requires you to enter your phone number to supposedly send a security code text to process your transaction but it never gets sent. I've tried various times over several months and it never works. Beware of providing any info. Who knows what they are doing with that info or who they may be selling it to.
It would be really great to find out whether this app is US-only, or available elsewhere, without having to scour the T&C, help section, & Google Play blurb, only to come up with no definitive answer. All I know is I tried to put in my shipping address, & couldn't proceed without inputting a US state, so I assume it's only available in the US. . . it would have saved a lot of time to find that out before downloading it, creating an account, etc. Dev., please make this clearer!
Horrible, can't delete personal info once entered . I wanted to change my phone number, delete my account, delete my email, but they won't allow it. They store it forever. And they're like ebay, where you do payments through them with a fee, not a direct exchange with buyer. Dangerous! Don not register an account! You'll be stuck!
You open the app, it plays annoying video with sound even though the phone is in silent mode. You look at an item it plays another annoying video ad. They push their dash auctions. It's supposed to be a local site where you can find things to buy, or sell it, but now it's more annoying to use and nobody is on it.
Great app! Have made some good purchases and sold even more items! 5 dash is a good addition, but it seems to take over the app and lowers the user interface of the original design. Could have done it differently to where it doesn't affect those who aren't AS interested in the dash part. Still a good app and enjoy it.
This app used to be something worth using because it was free. It never functioned right but was free. Now it still doesn't function but has to be paid for. 1 example- the description window. Really? No return key to add spacing? Listing looks like a dang love letter from prison and not a professional advertisement. Then the user has to drag the cursor around to browse up or down, but the scroll speed is so ridiculous that its impossible to catch the last spot where the cursor was. Get it together before you start charging. If you are selling something that isn't working in 2018, as a designer and programmer... really you need to explore possibilities for different field of work. ...its just not working out.. no hard feelings
