I have been composing with flstudio and famitracker for quite some time now, and when i found an app that was basically mobile Famitracker, I thought it was too good to be true. And, in a compositional sense, it was. The software has too much latency (Which, considering we are dealing with rhythm here, isn't good.) Every time i make even a simple drum beat, it turns into a swing tempo. And, it's a loose cannon when it comes to how and when it'll have latency between the notes. Sorry, but i'll stick with FT.
8tones is a portable famitracker, so to say. However, my main gripe is that the songs are played through the engine with swing to it. It doesnt bother me too much but itd be nice to have it fixed. That, and I have to pay to publish songs. /.-./ TLDR:good, but fix the swingy tempo
This app is easy to get into and once I figured it out, I loved it. I can easily make music, the controls are simple and I understood everything. The price to share music is reasonable. One small complaint: could the background be given a wider range of values? The contrast is a little bit eye-straining, but that could be just me. I like the customizable accent, though, definitely a cool feature.
This is the first program that I have tried that can make 8-bit music, and it's decent to say the least. It's lacking, though, and these faults can be realized quickly. For one, each file is incredibly limited. I was hoping I could make a chiptune version of a song, but I couldn't even get past the opening instrumental with the first file. The second fault, which is quite major, is that files cannot be exported directly onto the phone. The app will be more appealing once these points are dealt with!
These are some pretty minor nitpicks from an otherwise fantastic app. 1) I wish you could add some effects to the music like a reverb or something. That would be sweet! 2) I wish there were more percussion sounds. I feel quite limited to what range of instruments are currently provided. 3) When I playback a song, the rhythm will at times slow down which is super annoying. I hope that can be fixed. Other than that, this is an absolutely amazing little app! :)
This is a great app for me to get down a tune relatively easily, and the chiptune "instruments" (chipstunestruments?) are good quality. However, there seems to be a bit of irregular rhythm whenever I play back my tune. Also, I would love to be able to change the save directory, so it wouldn't save a text file to a place that may or may not exist. I'll definitely use this app quite a bit in the near future, but if those features are fixed/added, I'll use it a LOT more.
The app itself is pretty nice to use, the only problem I have with it is the rhythm goes off often starting from tempo speed 07. Other than that, it's a great portable chiptune maker. :3
So I got this app because I wanted to compose music for a game. What caught my eye about this particular app is the Windows Phone reminiscent UI. I actually used to own a Windows Phone in 2013, and this app just helped all the memories of unboxing that phone and seeing that shiny, still-relevant Nokia logo. 😊🕘📱
When I started the app after I got it FOR FREE, it says I haven't bought it. I clicked the Buy button to see where it goes. It just goes to this app.
I Don't Actually Type Like This because I only use it in titles. It's hard to understand what the buttons do because there's so many, but it's very easy to get used to. I haven't seen any bugs yet but I love it
It's a good game, I can say that. You can make music with five different instruments. But the fact that you need to pay to share music is kinda ridiculous.
I like the basic idea of this but sadly the timings tend to be very off. Still it is a nice toy, if the timing was not so irregular it would be a good little tracker.
There is an issue with the time signature that threw me for a loop a few times, but otherwise a good app.
It's nice, but really needs more work on timing. It seems a little shaky.
Well, I mean... Everything made in this program sounds bad due to tempo issues. I appreciate the work that went into making 8 Tones, but EVERY song loses timing, so I can't recommend this version. After a fix, absolutely.
paid to publish even though i dont need to. just to support and motivate. update expand and grow. good job
Great app but I'm having a problem with saving it as a text file. It worked the first time but after that I kept getting an error message and then it crashes. If I could get some help with that it would be great!
Though I was hoping this created chiptune(nsf)-formatted files so I could load/play others, it's still a fun toy so I'm rating this for the work put into it.
Easy enough, but has a pretty major problem where notes aren't played on the beat (some notes will play too quick, some too slow, and music played back just sounds like it's falling over itself).
Could have been great but playback lags rhythmically which is a deal breaker.
It used to work on my other device but its very laggy now, but I get how it works so I still love it!
BEST MOD/FAMI TRACKER EVER :D Its just that the timing is a bit irregular
This app has so much stuff in it I can't even explain! But I think the best part is the great amount of 8 bit notes and beats! Anyway the app is awesome. Thank you for it, Guova Games!
I think if u work hard enough the music could be Disturbing but I liked it
I love everything about it, and I really don't think the rhythm changes are too much of an issue. Although, the app won't let me publish songs or view others'.
Switching channels is unresponsive and it crashes during important sessions
It's cool but it needs pitch bend, arps, volume envelopes, and the txt export is broken, and save to clipboard is coming soon. Sad... It would be great if it was externally useful.
