About the Academy:

The American Academy of Ophthalmology is the world's largest association of eye physicians and surgeons — Eye M.D.s — with more than 32,000 members worldwide. Eye health care is provided by the three "O's" – ophthalmologists, optometrists, and opticians. It is the ophthalmologist who has the education and training to treat it all: eye diseases, infections and injuries, and perform eye surgery. Ophthalmologists provide comprehensive eye care, ranging from optical to medical to surgical.

The mission of the Academy is to advance the lifelong learning and professional interests of ophthalmologists to ensure that the public can obtain the best possible eye care.

Academy members are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for every individual they treat by helping each to see his or her best and by protecting their patients' vision and eye health throughout life. Academy members are committed to responding compassionately to their patients' individual needs and to advancing the highest standards of comprehensive eye care.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The app keeps closing. Not worth the MB to keep it.

Update: the new app is far better than the old one. Few things to improve: 1) Highlights fade the text, which makes it slightly harder to read. The old version highlights were a little better in terms of color and allowing the text to still stand out. 2) The app still does not remember what page you are on for a book, so you have to manually go back to the page each time, unless you set a bookmark yourself. 3) The scroll indicator behaves a little odd while scrolling. Little distracting.

Now that everything will sync I am pleased with the ability to pick up from any device and continue to highlight and annotate what I have read. Scrolling can be a bit smoother and it should default to your bookshelf rather than books on sale. Not a bad way to read the BCSC series.

any ideas when the app will be available for windows 8?? works great on the droid, wondering when i can use easily with windows 8 tablet?

Jac. P. Aug 8, 2013

Abysmal. App is confusing, ugly, and slow. And worse, it doesn't work: it refuses to allow me to download (or even view) the BCSC books that I paid so much for.

I'm very glad to have ebook format. Sadly the aao should have just put the books in kindle format instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. There is no syncing of notes and highlights, the highlight function online is finicky. Notes are hard to reaccess. The desktop version is not available offline. Search function is weak. The smallest font is huge, we're not all presbyopic yet. No page number correlation to the print books. The app is slow and often unresponsive, it crashes often even after the update.
