Abc Editor (Text Editor)

After trying dozens of editors, this is the ONLY one I've found that can save to external storage (edit: File Editor by Igor Luchkin now can as well, dev added it in response to my review). Based on that alone, I will be keeping it and wish I could give if a higher rating, but it has other issues and the UI isn't very good. With some improvements this could be a superb app, but as great as the ability to save to SD is, that shouldn't be the only good thing about an editor.

It would be wonderful to be able to be working on multiple files at the same time, for example, enabled by different tabs. And it's difficult to use alongside cloud services such as Google Drive or OneDrive. Unlike QuickEdit which allows for auto-save and auto-sync with virtually zero hassle, this app keeps on creating modified files attached with number tags and storing them in the Download folder every time you save your work, but those revisions are not updated to your cloud storage.

(Android 7) This would be the best simple text editor BUT.. the intrusive dialog to pick character set when opening -every- file. THIS IS AS ANNOYING AS ANY POP-UP SPAM! It is extremely rare to change the character set once you pick a preference. Its like forcing the user to re-pick colors to open every file, nonsense! This pop-up RUINS an excellent Ui. Makes it impossible to open files directly with a shortcut. No other editor does this. When this dialog can be shut off, this will be the best.

After trying the 10th plain text editor today, finaly one that works and can be even configured as a defult app for txt files. But why that annoying popoup whenever opening and saving a file asking to pick encoding? It is soooooo annoying. I just want to be able to open, edit and save. Quickly. Not having to go through useless popup. I understand that encoding is important and autodetect does not work always as expected, but why not just add an option to change the encoding when the guess is wrong, instead of forcing the user enter it again and again. Maily when the user knows that all his files are utf8.

Only thing that mares it is the "Save" box that appears every time, with character code set choice. With "keep this setting" ticked, it still appears every time and has to be dealt with, or it "couldn't save file". Also, even with UTF-8 set in "preferences" it is anyone's guess how many attempts to "save" will be required. Somewhere between 1 and 5 !! Pity because otherwise it's "just the job !"

It has a lot programmed in it and doesnt just go to Drive or Download because you have command of All your files and folders in whole SD search. I dont need to rename chess files to text like most others as you can edit them directly (that alone makes it special to me) It feels like you can go exploring all the things you can do with this for fun.. just so much there makes me feel good..so many options fonts and stuff. Developers have been modest promoting their app.

I downloaded ABC Editor only recently. Did not encounter any of the problems faced by the other users. I was able to save to my SD card, and the app settings were retained after already having 2-3 updates. I am very satisfied with it currently. Did encountered a bug though, but wasn't able to reproduce/replicate it. Thank you.

Bravo. You did it correctly the first time. Edits (Good..ES Explorer and Word wouldn't), saves (Good) in the directory I need (better), ads are simple lines that pop up at the top of page not full blown pop ups (I could kiss you). Honestly it is exactly what I need. The only thing someone (not me) might need is an Always-ask-where-to-save option in Preference like in browsers. Thanks a million.

Exactly what I needed. The most important feature to me was is that the app is added on the list of apps to open with a txt file when a txt file is attempted to open. Many other text editors do not add themselves on the list. Also, the app is cute, well laid out and easy to use.

I like this app. However, I would like the option to turn off the confirmations, especially for the Search and Replace feature. It uselessly wastes time when dealing with searching and replacing different portion of texts, to have to confirm the operation every time

It doesnt have the autosave feature. If i leave this app and do something else without even closing the app and forget to click save first, everything is gone. I try to remember but i am often busy doing multiple tasks and sometimes i have to answer the phone. So i am constantly losing work. Why use this app when the others have autosave?

I'm trying I swear, noobz have 2 learn as well, and some of us(me)more than once!! This app, along with the entire line of Polar Bear Soft apps make complexity become simplicity; both diverse and efficient yet not to complicated for a layperson such as myself to use. Simply text editing was what I was looking for. And this is it. Because I upload a lot of text files to many different devices, they can all read it as this app allows you to edit the file in many different formats.

A bit quirky. I find you have to make sure to Close the file. Opening from the File Manager causes issues. There are AD's. In the preferences sometimes it is not too their other product.

Tbh, it's a little bit a good text app but the only thing that the bug always annoys me is that when everytime I try to re-edit my texts by typing the typing phase whooshes itself to the top and somehow it types that at the middle of your finished text it's just really bad. Plz fix this issue...

I couldn't find an autosave feature in this app. It can write txt files to SD card, which I like. Nice theme, but slightly awkward interface. It seems to place a big emphasis on the clipboard, with prime screen real estate dedicated to sel/unsel/cut/copy....

Just what I needed. App that could open large txt files with fast search and read-only mode. Thanks. But it would be great if you could make an ad-free version for buying.

I'm just messing around in 7Zipper trying to install a game and unpack things appropriately so things run correctly. Then found that my phone didn't have a text editor and it suggested it download this. Honestly questioning if humanity has been enslaved by the machines and the phones j our hands all day long as we mindlessly click and tap tap tapareoo away at this conductive pressure sensitive little super computer .......... It's like a swedish massive for these lil tech nuggets

changes symbols to chinese characters after save/reopen... I used the correct file type & experimented with others=all results were the same. It does open & search large files quickly for me, but that's all lost bcz the original/actual data/text is corrupted. ✌️ PEACE 💜 BLESSINGS 👼

DEL buttton clears from cursor to start of file down to cursor, instead of just the one intended char'! This is not OK. Plus, this editor will NOT remember char' coding. Asks you on opening and closing a file to confirm. EVERY TIME! even if you only ever use UTF-8. Uninstalled.

wanted to give 5 stars for all the years its working so seamless and nice, BUT EVETYTIME WHEN AN UPDATE INSTORED, ALL THE PERFERENCE GONE. And you have to set everything up again. Please, Abc Editor, just a small step and you will be the King. updared on 11May2019 They realy listened to us! Allmost all problem gone. Give you back 2 more stars for all the hard work you have done.

Good app for editing simple text files, but I need to work on multiple files easily without waste my time with saving closing and opening every time.

Using from more than year. I can keep it as must have editor. It has issue while typing. The current position mark remains shifted from actual position like with double spaces, one char behind actual.

LOVE THIS APP BUT WHEN I EDIT A SAVED FILE IT SAVES IT TO INTERNAL STORAGE/DOWNLOADS INSTEAD TO MY SD CARD WHERE THE ORIGINAL WAS SAVED. Excellent control of cut, copy, paste and basic editing. Saves to SD card. Easy and simple.

The popup asking me to pick a character set every time I open the app or a file, is highly annoying. I would rate it 5* if this is eliminated.

It does what I need, but when saving a file the option "Keep this setting" does not work. The question about charset and ctr lf keeps appearing. Last update every time I open presents a question is this the first time, etc. Why?

Very good editor for large files with lots of options What i don't like is the dialogue asking you if you want to open the file or change its encoding Its pointless and very annoying Other than that good job devs

I has been using this app since 2014 it was great app no issue at all This built could not save a file i tried two or three time it seems that now file is saved but next time open app there is no trace of file not in history not in Geditor folder.

Excellent little app! It lets you select text chunks easily (e.g in a text with delimiters).

Best developer. Love the team Reliable apps. Im not the type for loyalty but ive used 7zipper for years now ever probably 20 devices
