AC Forums App for Android™
The easiest and best way to take part in the Android Forums at Android Central. Using the Tapatalk standard of mobile forum browsing, you can peruse forum threads, reply, start new threads, reply to PMs and do everything you expect from the best and friendliest Android forums around.
This app will ask your permission for some things when you install it. Here's what those permissions mean, in plain English:
Full Internet access: You'll need to have access to the Internet to view and reply in the forums. Makes sense.
Read phone state and identity: Google says this allows the app to know when a phone call is coming in. That way, the app can pause itself and let you answer the call. We're not using your identity for anything; these two permissions are bundled together.
Modify/delete USB and SD card contents: When you see a picture posted in the AC Forums via the app, it needs to store it on your internal storage or SD card. Again, makes sense.
Prevent device from sleeping: When a notification is received (you can set those up in the app settings), the app will need to wake the device up so it can deliver it. (Yeah, it sounds a little backward.)
Control vibrator: Needed for notifications, so you can have your phone or tablet vibrate. Sounds a little dirty, though.
View network state/Wifi state: Because the app requires you to have a network connection, it needs to be able to *know
* that you have a network connection. If you don't, it will tell you.
Automatically start at boot: The app will notify you about private messages and replies to subscribed topics. Without this permission, you would need to restart the app yourself each time you restart your phone to continue to get notifications.

During login process emailaddress doesn't get accepted, only username. Own created posts in a wrong category can't be deleted, no option available. No option to edit my own created post. This app needs a lot of improvement
I've been an AC member for years and have posted many pics, but this app states that I do not have permission to do so. Also, I shows unread that available, when there are none and does not show unread threads when they are available.
Running this app on a Note 10. It opens multiple copies when I click on an email thread link. When it isn't doing that, it refuses to open.
Looks like it has lost support, which is too bad. It still works, but sometimes it acts a little weird on my Note 10+ (won't load and I have to force stop/clear cache).
Won't open. I get an error everytime I try to open it, something about network error and token something.
Why not merge the forum features to your other Android Central app and decommission this one? The only feature I like about this app is the ability to post pictures. Other than that I used the other app
I was with CB since 2010 and migrated over in 2017 when I got my first Android phone (Smart Platinum 7). Your site has served me well but there is still not the camorardery that was experienced with Crackberry. Hopefully, time will tell. Alan.
tried this once after deleting the other version. sign in won't take my password, click forgot password, says user doesn't exist. register as new member, says user already exists. Stuck in a loop. Giving up and deleting this one too.
It lacks any mod functions, but otherwise it's very handy when you're not near a computer.
Can't logon. I can login via chrome but then use app and it can't login. I reset my password via the app , login via chrome with new password but then still can't login via the app. So annoying
When I press unanswered questions it just goes to the androidcentral loading screen and stays there. please fix this.
Broken app. I liked it when it worked, but has been broken now for a long time.
Does what it says. Not as simple to navigate as the web page but it works.

Doesn't work on my Galaxy S21 Ultra or Galaxy S22 Ultra. Did Android Central shut down?

Finally taking this app to 1 star. Barely works maybe 1 out of every ten times I try to use it. Maybe it's time to say goodbye to Android Central since they don't seem to care about those if us who use their app.

it's very handy in terms of getting information about some things that you need help with or issues that you know nothing about. It would help for the app to be updated on a continuous basis, hasn't been updated in a while but other than that, it's a very useful app. Continue updating & improving.....
Can't even log in or change password . Downloading the app. took very long. All I can do is read the comments unless I go online and log in there what is the point of this app.

I am unable to login through this app. I can browse and participate in the forums through Android Central app. Why does this app even exist?
All the info I need for my android in 1 way to use app
App relaunches at the start screen every time when selecting from the launcher, even if you were just in the app seconds ago. Really? Seems to behave properly when selecting from the recent apps screen though.
No longer can access the blog after the update
Great app for Android Central Forums, but I would really prefer if this functionality was built into the main Android Central app. Seems less productive to have to maintain two apps that have a lot of the same functionality. The AC app isn't powerful enough on the forums side, so this app fixes that. Fix it in the main app would be much nicer.
This used to be a great app, For many years it was my primary source for Android information. However, in the past few weeks it has stopped working. Nothing displays under any of of the section headings, such as Home, Forums, Videos, Podcasts, Wallpapers, etc. I don't understand how iMore, Windows Central, and Crackberry are still functioning properly, but Android Central doesn't work? I have deletng the app and the app cache, and reinstalled several times to no avail.
