this app used to be great. the voice quality is still great. But why am i getting this error? . You reached the number of devices allowed per account. If you need to activated this device again please go to help menu and use the 'send a message' option if you won't fix it i will refund my money.
That's actually one of my favourite apps of all time! There is other child voices and 1 teenage voice! If I have any of those voices on Vyond Studio, I can just use any of these voices other than just Ivy and Justin! However, what I recently noticed is that between sentences, the voices just pause a little longer and speak a word after a question mark, exclamation and full stop.
Very good app! Voices sound very very good indeed! Good inflections too, and where not good inflections, punctuation can be read out to compensate for this. Definitely recommend!
Edit: Almost 2 years in using this app and my concerns have not been addressed and no further updates. The pause during speaking breaks any natural flow to dictation. Can't recommend because of this. Old: 1) There's an inherent delay when speaking a new pronunciation in a users dictionary causing a pause of about 1 second when speaking newly modified words. 2) Would like to have the ability to see what words were added to the dictionary and the edited pronunciation from within the app itself.
I'm back reviewing for the experience on another device. I now have a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE that I switched to about slightly over three months ago and it is going fast and strong. I would say that the voice is slightly louder than the Talkback sound feedback despite setting it to Match Speech Volume. The TTS responds very fast. Unfortunately I don't use it very much anymore on either the Chromebook or the phone, but Acapela remains a very pleasant Text-to-speech engine for me.
The app used to work for me. I redownloaded it and purchased another voice, now whenever I close the app it makes me redownload all of the voices I've purchased, every single time. Not sure what happened, but this makes the app essentially unusable. So if I download voices, they appear in my files. Once I close the app, the files are still there. When I reopen the app and it says it's 'connecting to server', that's when the voice files delete.
Update:DO NOT BUY - The default tts engines sound waaay better than the voice I bought. The sample voice was fine until I purchased it and realized there is a constant echo on the voice. It makes the voice sound robotic and hard to understand at times. I find myself going back to my default engines. Save your money. Go with Speech....ify but even they are overpriced. Definitely overpriced for voices that sound like they should be free!!! I honestly wish I could get a refund.
This app would not start up right when I got it! I would rate this 0 stars if I could, because it was very glitchy. :( Not only that, it said that it didn't have "any voices, please try again", and I tried over TEN TIMES! But it still didn't have any, and it was acting the same way! X( However, after uninstalling it, my phone was still a little glitchy; after taking it to the phone store, the people said it was THIS app that messed it up! Please fix this problem, and I'll reinstall it again! >:(
I hadnt used it in a while and changed phones, so I figured I'd reinstall despite other low reviews. Asks for access to my contacts, despite the privacy notice saying they only collect my personal email address for internal reasons. Can't progress beyond that to test the current quality of the voices, of which I have purchased at least one.
These voices are so amazing and affordable. Other companies (re)selling the same voices are, in my experience, way more expensive ($40 instead of $4) Everyone complaining about the contact permission thing should just read Acapela's response that it's a Google problem and they just need permission to get your email address, to check for your purchased voices. I greatfuly used this feature and was able to access my voices on another device.
TTS moved on since the technology packaged in this app, therefore, I cannot recommend spending money on any of these voices. Acapela kept up with its Premium Voices, unavailable through this app, or any one-time-purchase app that I tried. State-of-the-art TTS on Android is apparently by subscription only now. I hope this changes over time. I agree with other reviewers who dislike the cryptic required permissions that other apps do not demand.
Great voices, have bought one. Since the recent update however I can no longer demo free voices, can only use bought ones. That's a bummer. Edit: Lowering score to one, the app is completely unusable for me now. Cannot even use bought voices and customer support barely replies and has no input.
Incredibly mediocre tts. The voice samples are misleadingly high quality, in actual application (ebook reading, for instance) it's almost indecipherably garbled. Intonation is all over the place and confusing. Default Google tts voices are 100% better. I want my money back.
The acapela TTS voices is working okay. The issue that I seriously have, that it needs some language and variant bugs, where you can change the voices. When I reinstall the app. Now, I get an error message. Acapela TTS is broken. Please update the app.
After purchase the voice randomly disappeared a few months later. I tried everything but the app said no voice was installed. Even tried to purchase again but the app showed the error that I already had it. Emailed multiple times with no answer. Huge waste of money
Why are contacts permission and files permission immediately asked for on app launch? Your blurb says you just want an email address please agree etc... And then you're hit with those. There's no way you need permission to access my contacts? I didn't even make it past this point, you just shouldn't do that without explaining why you need those permissions.
Tried the Brazilian Portuguese demo and it sounded worse than the Google TTS built in which is part of Android. Sorry about that. Found only female voice, it sounded as a mix betweens Portugal's and Brazilian Portuguese. There is room for improvement I will try again once improved.
Update: developer tracked down the issue and fixed it. Everything works as expected, again. Previous: The most recent voice I licensed still requires reinstallation every time it connects to the server.
I love this app, and use these voices for everything. Recently, there was a problem. I contacted them via email. They worked hard at fixing the problem and communicated well during the process. Thank you for your great product.
The app is great. I love the voices. Even love the option to add pronunciations for nouns. But how do I edit the pronounciation? I've made an error in saving the wrong pronunciation. How I'm unable to view and modify it. How am I supposed to edit a pronounciation? Or know what words I've already added?
I've always loved this text-to-speech app. Unfortunately, there are two Dutch voices on this app named Thijs and Merel. I purchased the voice "Merel," and I have a receipt from Google Play, but the voice is not showing up as one of my purchased voices on the app.
It was useful. After an update they say they only want to know my email address, but it's actually requiring access to my contacts. That's deceptive and unnecessary. Uninstalling.
forces uses to allow access contacts and files on the device. the apllication will not even start without. whatever the purpose you no right to force me to give access to that information if I don't want to.. I purchased a bunch of voices and now if I don't want to give access I can't even use the application anymore. Also bought vocalizer, Cereproc and others and They don't force access to Contacts. You can simply ask to enter email address being used to purchase voices rather than dig device
Why does it needs access of my Contacts? And Gallery? You should be asking storage permission as to download multiple audios but the developer is on a verge of evading our privacy. I uninstalled it after it asked for my permission, why can't we use your app without giving access of our contacts and other permissions list. I'll edit this review once the developer responds to my answer of what is he going to do after accessing our contacts and gallery permissions. Thank You!
I loved this app until I was unable to use it anymore. If you can, please test this app on numerous LG devices and find out what's wrong. I would appreciate having further access to these brilliant voices. Edit: Thank you all for finally solving that issue! I'm extremely grateful.
Great feedback and support from the staff, like Sebastien, after coming across some issues regarding a bug on the app a only a day ago. There are plenty of voices to choose from on Acapela, all of high quality, especially the premium voices. Using the premium voices as my phone's text-to-speech (TTS) engine to announce whose calling or sending messages will be more convenient and professional while working. Nothing says distracted more than checking your phone at work, even briefly. Thanks AG👍
