Have used this for years. Paid for the pro/unlock key version a long time ago. Then they got bought out and as so often goes with things like this, the app has gone down hill and it is being uninstalled (old phone died and I wasn't willing to pay a monthly fee for online backups, so my data is lost anyway). Having paid up-front and then having the new owners decide to take back the features I paid for, as well as cover up a third of the screen with ads, I'm done with it. If you don't mind paying a monthly subscription to get all of the features, then it might still be a decent app, but I'm guessing it will end up like the dinosaurs.
Paid for Pro version years ago, then when Fuelly bought it out, lost the features I had. Sure, I still have the "Pro" version, but really that means little - many features are disabled. They have removed many of the features and expect you to pay for a subscription to get them back. I would like to use a few choice words, but I'm sure the review would be taken down if I did. Looking for an alternative after many years of use.
Feature-wise the app is great. It allows saving all sorts of car-related records, and allows attaching photos or PDFs to each. Another nice feature is the ability to indicate driving mode and percentage of highway vs. city mileage for each interval between fill-ups. There's hardly a feature that isn't theoretically part of the app. BUT: If your language of choice isn't English, then a lot of the functionality may lack proper translation. I have verified this for German and others have complained about other languages on the user forums. Much worse than that, the app crashes constantly. On the way to create a single refuel record, the app crashes several times for me. I have just recently started to use the app, and I really wanted to like it, and even paid for the Pro upgrade, but I may have to cut my losses here. If it makes a difference, I am using an LG V20 phone with Android 7.0.
It works okay, but it syncs way to frequently and it notifies (with sound!) every time it syncs. Folks on the message board have been requesting for over 3 years that this be changed, at least add a setting to control these notifications. Developer said back then it's on his to-do list. I'm about ready to find an alternative just because of this extremely annoying behavior.
Highly configurable, cloud sync support. However, too many ads / subscription only, one currency only (!) and especially - odometer is mandatory field - which in real life is highly impractical restriction - you may know what you paid and for what - it's on payslip usually - but you may forget to write down odometer value and you are screwed - apps should be more flexible than that (and some are, luckily). And GUI looks and feels dated.
I purchased the app many years ago. I thought it was an okay app that was worth the purchase. Since upgrading my phone, my license didnt transfer and I discovered that it didnt matter anyway. it is a subscription now, which doesn't much bother me if it was worth it. the app has become confusing and difficult. I'm going back to a paper logbook, or looking for a better, non-bloatware app. Fuelly took an okay app and ruined it.
I purchased the premium features for the application and now I cannot use it anymore let alone even download it? Ridiculous and I'm not thrilled with the subscription based model (nobody is). Now there really is no point to use this application anymore. The information provided in the free version was great, allowed me to upload and save 7 years of car information and provide statistics. Alas I'm going to move over to a nonsubscriber competitor instead.
Oh dear me. I've used The Fuelly App on iPhone and it was a fantastic experience, with a beautifully designeded app, and was happy to subscribe. This however is terrible implementation of the beautiful App I'm used to. Very ugly and poorly designed. I sound very negative and I really don't want to be because I've had such a great experience previously. It feels like it's designed by a completely different company, but it says Fuelly. I can't understand why the UI is different from iOS?
I've used the aCar app (purchased version) for 10+ years. Somehow, after FUELLY took over ownership my files were split into 4 different (but same) truck files. Totally messed up now. Ten years of detailed information - GONE!!!!!! I cannot recommend the app anymore, even as good as it once was. FAQ's on potential fixes led me to broken links as well.
I love this app ... when it was aCar, it was superb. I went Pro and never looked back. (Remember, if you went Pro, you can find the unlocker in "your apps" and re-install if you upgrade phones) Then Fuelly acquired aCar and some new features came around. Then last year, the ad-free experience for the Pro app was given a lifespan; 2 years, and then all users would need to subscribe annually to remove ads. I give the aCar app a solid 5 stars. I give Fuelly's elimination of the old Pro aCar users ad-free experience on, or around May 2020 and forced annual subscription monetization -1 stars. An alternative for Fuelly would have been to allow Pro aCar users to remain ad-free, without any support. OR, offer an end of life version of aCar that was ad-free for life for Pro users, and new features go into a new version of the app. If I want the new features, I have to go with the new licensing model; annual subscription. So, 2 stars, unfortunately. Sad ... aCar, in it's former days was the app to beat for vehicle maintenance management.
Bought Pro version several years ago. Had to switch phones, now can't get data to transfer because of limited options. Tried reinstalling unlock. Unlock app disappeared and now I have to pay again via subscription for something I already bought. Looking for options. Manual log book is better than this, at least then you don't lose your car history.
Nothing flashy about this app, but it is still quite a bit better than other maintenance log apps that I've tried. I've used this for probably 8-10 years over 3 different cars and never experienced any issues or bugs with the app. The only reason 4 vs 5 stars is that the interface and graphs could use a little modernization, which is a minor nit.
I have used this app for years, never had any issues, I purchased the Pro Version when I first started using this app. Very disappointing that now they want a subscription fee - I am just fine having the back-ups go to my google drive account or even on the phone, I am now looking for a new vehicle management app - 1 star until they rethink this and come to their senses.
App is generally good but there's an annoying bug. If I have an entry with a PDF already attached, and I edit the entry to add or remove a Subtype, the edit mode crashes and reverts to view-only mode. Therefore to successfully revise the Subtypes, I'm forced to edit the entry, delete the PDF, then revise the Subtypes, save, and then re-attach the PDF and save. Really inconvenient - please fix!
I used to like Fuelly via web browser years ago, but this app looks/feels like it was made in 2008. Also, banner ads are all good and well, but half-screen ads are just mean. I'd consider upgrading to premium, but the free version is so mediocre that I simply don't care to support this app. Also, why is premium a subscription? I think a one-time premium app purchase would be more appropriate. I was willing to look past the poor reviews on the app and give it a try, but I think I'll move on.
