A great podcast app. All the podcasts I love are here and there's an excellent selection to discover under the search tab. The only quibble I have is that I can't rate and review podcasts individually. I would very much like the ability to rate and review each and every podcast I sub to as it helps podcasters raise their profiles so that people can more easily find & enjoy their shows. Would that be possible ?
An absolute must, I am a big podcaster and have tried the big nameapps and smaller podcast players and to be honest this is the only one which works seamlessly and is reliable, no WiFi needed for playback, others promise this but I find too many times that I actually do need WiFi just to get the player to work so this is now my go to podcast player
Exceeds other podcast playing apps, even Spotify with it's settings and how it displays everything. For me, this is the best, although it is a shame some podcasts are exclusive to other apps but unavailable to acast and others. I love the tone of it and even a kind of ethos comes through which, if I'm picking up correctly, I really like. Recently the 'related podcasts' Feature won't work. It's just blank and really frustrating.
Guys I really got sick of this app. The reasons for that are. 1. I can only use Facebook account to log in 2. Windows app was useless for years. I wasn’t able to sign in. 3. Podcasts are somehow filtered which is why I can’t add some of those I would like to add. 4. Support is useless. 5. I found Pocket Casts has what I need.
This used to be my go-to app for podcasts. I've been using it for about four years and have recommended it to so many people. However, last few updates have made it so glitchy. Following the most recent update, the app will automatically pause, sometimes after a few mins, sometimes after a few seconds, which is frustrating. Hope the developers work out a long-term fix for these issues because when it's working, it's a really wonderful app!
As a previous post has alluded to, the App crashes immediately upon start up if you are connected to mobile data. I did find that if I have both WiFi and mobile data on before I leave the house the App stays open even after I get out of WiFi range however if you try switching between Acast and other Apps whilst you are out then Acast just crashes. It makes Acast pretty unusable for a lot of situations
I've had playback issues with Avast forever. The app will regularly stop playing for 5-10 seconds as if buffering. This doesn't seem to matter which device I use, or correlate with my network connection. I don't see the same issue in any other podcast app that I use. Now it won't even open.
I've been using podcast apps for years and Acast is the one that lasted longer. We've had some bugs but so far is the most consistent.
Crashes all the time. For every update that fixes it, the next one breaks again. The audio always stops once my screen goes off which is pretty useless if I start a podcast running and then put my phone in my pocket to continue listening on headphones. I keep having to unlock my phone, then press play again..
Mostly good podcast app. However, the related shows tab that I used to love is broken. I'm using Google podcasts instead because this feature has been broken for months
I can't rate Acast low because it's always been so good, until about a month ago? You start playing a podcast and it will stop after five minutes. Acast gets me to work and back on my walk usually, I love a good podcast stroll and it sets me up for the day. Now I've resorted to checking my Acast feed (which is amazing) for podcasts that have been released but then listening to the podcast elsewhere.
On the whole, pleased. But I would really like to be able to have the default for 'Zz' to be 'stop at the end of the episode' Later: it now stops at the end of the episode even if I have Zz set to 'Off'!
4 months since my last review and still this damn app is crashing every single time I open it and hav to keep opening it and try at least 20 times before it stays open. Great app, but every time I open it it just crashes and closes, then sometimes when I keep opening it time after time it then eventually can stay open.
Overall, pretty good. Acast carries a lot of podcasts I want. My only yank is that sometimes, podcasts won't load. I'm left looking at the "whirrley wheel" spinning hopelessly only to be told the podcast can't be played. This happens too often.
App is going to stop working because they aren't making enough money selling user data? Strange that it doesn't mention this on the store page but just check their twitter... Antenna Pod available free and open source from F-Droid a great replacement 👍
Every new episode's automatic download gets stuck on "Waiting for WiFi" even when WiFi is connected. App is set to download over WiFi only. It worked fine till a few months ago, since then it's been always getting stuck, I'm fed up. Clearing cache didn't help. I don't want to reinstall because I have *a lot* of episodes downloaded from my Wondery subscription, I don't want to lose them or the knowledge which eps and shows I have listened to.
