Accurate Altimeter
- Using GPS satellites triangulation. No internet connection required, quite accurate with clean sky but works only outdoors and it's slow.
- Using the ground elevation at your current position. Accurate but require internet connection and works only if you are at ground level.
- Using the pressure sensor of your device (if available). If it's available internet connection it calibrates itself on the nearest weather station pressure to improve accuracy.
The best choice for your excursion it's the pressure sensor method. But we recommend to launch the App just before leaving so it calibrates itself taking pressure from the nearest airport weather station. So measure will be reliable for few hours even without an internet connection.
You can also calibrate the sensor to eliminate systematic error.

The digital readout on the main page utilizes too small a font size to be safely viewed while driving. We are in the digital age and the analog altimeter needs to go away, period! This will allow you to oversize the digital readouts for safe viewing while driving. Accept my recommendation and I will give you 5 stars.
I installed this while it was temporarily free. It's called a "pro" version and has a regular price on Play store which I expected would mean an Ad free application with unobtrusive permissions. Wrong! Before using the app you are required to allow permissions enabling the developer to collect personal information and use it for marketing or other purposes. Not cool. I'm disappointed because I thought it might be a good app. Uninstalled.
As a vagabond, this app is essential. I can easily plot the snowbird route by knowing where to go based on the altitude.
"Purchase not correctly validated, please contact support" Bought it while it is on promotion & when i opened it everytime it shows the above statement. & then the app is gone with the wind.
Not very accurate. Shows negative altitude sometimes, when I'm def not under water.
My favorite Altimeter and I hope that one day you can also develop one version for my Fenix 6X watch :-)

Very interesting app.
Can't use out of cell area without data. It needs to verify its purchase at the most inconvenient time when you are hiking remotely. Ended up relying on another free app instead of an app that I purchased.
I've had the paid version for three years now and I love it everyday. The method of calibrating the altimeter to local elevations keeps it very accurate. This app is a "keeper" as we say. A real prize for the price. I hope sometime soon you can sell an iOS version. I would buy in a second.

Works great. Will pull all info together to get accurate altitude estimate. Also gives current pressure reading. Not sure if New version is actual improvement, but I continue to use and like it. I calibrate my other analog altimeter with this one often. Having GPS and map estimates available is really nice. Worth the purchase price definitely. Very pleased.

I truly love this app for its clean interface and usefulness. However, I do have a few suggestions: 1) Include MSL-adjusted pressure (if possible) so that it is possible to see when a low pressure system is coming. Or, add a calculator that calculates average pressure at altitude based on average MSL pressure (1013.25 mb). 2) Add a dark theme - it makes it a lot more comfortable on the eyes and is very popular. 3) Allow lots more sections(even the entire world)to be downloaded for offline map
