I use several weather apps and, apart from when the weather is very changeable, on balance this one is the most accurate. What stops me from giving 5 stars is that, for me, the most important question is: Will it rain - I would prefer to see the %age chance in the hourly prediction instead of in the bar overhead which sometimes refuses to scroll. Also radar view ought to show a projection into the near future.
InaccuWeather would be more appropriate a name. I've lost count of the amount of times the app says sunshine when outside it's heavy rain, or the opposite. I don't like the way the view is not customisable, either. When looking at the day's summary I don't need to see wind direction, speed, gusts, rain, snow, ice. A snapshot of the day in quarterly sections with basic temp, cloud cover & rain would be better, without having to use the wildly inaccurate hourly breakdown. Not a well-designed app.
There are many good features of this app. And a so many shortcomings. For example, the app will say its raining in my neighborhood when it is not. I've checked with neighbors (across a wide area/radius) who also added the app, so we can all collectively laugh at the inaccurate info at times. The widget is basically trash as it never automatically updates current conditions. The temp routinely vanishes from the notification bar. I understand this *could* be a OS platform issue.
Terrible! I have the $ version and it forgets my city almost every time I close the app so I have to reenter it regularly just to use it. I could do that on goggle. When I emailed them to notify them of the issue, they said they were aware and working it. That was over six months ago. And they provide very, very basic information now. USED to be the Go-to weather app. I guess it changes ⛅ ☁️ 🤷♂️
When it loads the screen you want, like hourly for example, it has all the data I want and it's configurable. However half the time I go into the app, the tabs don't load the data. Another quarter of the time, the app just closes, then when I open it again it works. It should work the first time it's opened.
This is the classic, original AccuWeather interface. Unlike the constantly updated "AccuWeather" (not Platinum) app, it offers a clean, usable interface and a useful widget. Although some of the data is missing, this is more than compensated by the better ergonomics of the app - and for the gory details one could still go to one of the many weather-related websites.
I have used this app for years and it was very accurate but it is now dreadful. I love the actual app it is very well designed and easy to use but it is just wrong all the time now absolutely no point even looking at it. The most annoying thing is that the now forecast and the hourly forecast completely contradict each other. Currently now says no precipitation for 120 minutes and hourly says rain for next three hours..which is it??? This is not a one off It is all the time!!
At the moment on my home screen the temperature says 100 that's correct. Minute cast says that rain will stop in 5 minutes, it's not raining. It asks whether the sky is clear, yes. The new section is down but that's no loss since it's only clips of odd weather with no date or context. Why four stars with all of this weirdness occasionally popping up? All of the national weather apps have this difficulty. At least this presents well and isn't buried under a pile of advertising!
Same issue with the widget and app crashes for years. Had a Nexus 5X and now a Galaxy 10S+. Widget will go for days and never update; have to click the refresh icon. Clicking on the widget opens the app, but a majority of the time the daily/hourly tab data is empty. Going back to the home screen and clicking through the widget into the app briefly shows the data before the app crashes. It's sad that this still occurs after all this time. When it works, it's a nice app. Paid version.
This is one of of my favorite weather apps. I have a contracting business, so checking the weather is quite important. The MinuteCast and Looking Ahead features are amazingly helpful! Love how I can easily view the hourly temps, as well as the cool moving radar / storm tracker. There apparently is a newer version, but this one (paid Premium) still meets my needs just fine on my Samsung Note 9. One of the best!
The widgets are limited in size and functionality. Can't change font colors. They go blank and show that data is loading. Also, even with a 30 minute refresh rate selected, the app won't refresh. I've reinstated several times and purchased the app rather than using the free version. Still frustrating.
I used to love this app, but for the last six months or so it has often been sluggish and unresponsive, refusing to show anything other than a blank screen when it opens. You just never know. Often, when you need it most it fails to perform, even under excellent conditions. It has been ages since the app has had an update, so as far as I'm concerned it's not worth having. I have moved on to 1Weather, a much better app, which is free, and without ads.
Not sure what I paid for. Everytime I get a weather warning notification, I click on it to launch the app to see the full details... and nothing happens. I then open the app and it crashes. I reopen it again, can't find the warning anywhere. It's been doing this for months with no fix. The problem is not on my end
The useless "news" tab never has worked in the years I've used this app. The radar often takes 10 min or more (up to 9 hours) to load, even when I'm on Wi-Fi that speed tests at 20 Mbps. Most other apps take less than 30 seconds. Had the same problems on my old phone too, but now I have a new $700 flagship Android phone, so it's not like it's a phone problem. tried uninstall and reinstall several times, and nothing has changed. disappointing after paying good money for it.
Good radar, somewhat accurate forcast (no better or worse than any other app out there). 2 dislikes though, 1. Can you possibly narrow down the city search feature? Canada is a big country with provinces etc. when you are searching for a city thats name is used in multiple provinces add the province like you list the state in the US (try Oakville) 2. Get rid of the pin drop feature, or at least disable it where the play button is for your radar. Super annoying to delete when you want radar info
Right now, the screen shows 48 degrees in the pull down shade, but when I open the app, it shows the actual temp hee as 72° and sunny. But when I click the more info button it shows the 48 degrees again inside the app until I hit the back button and then it shows the actual temp again. Your app has been increasingly inaccurate lately, showing it was raining here twice last week when it was cloudy once and clear the other time. I feel like I wasted my money on the app now.
Very accurate and extremely annoying. I just got the 5th notification in 2 days for the same snowstorm. As if there's anyone on the East coast who didn't know this was coming. Most of the time when you tap on the notification nothing happens. you wait for 10 or 15 seconds, then you shrug and go back to whatever you were doing before. So accurate when it comes to temperatures and precipitation, so lousy in user experience.
As much as I love this app, it gets frustrating when it stops working, which seems to be on a regular basis. Being about every 4 to 6 months. Meaning, it will not load when I bring up the app. The widgets will not update. And when you try to access the information, it just crashes. The only way I know how to fix it is to uninstall, then reinstall it. I've had this issue with any Samsung Galaxy phone I've owned.
I am having the exact same problem as @Fil Pereria. I've been using this app for years and always loved it however a recent update caused it to malfunction. I will get a severe weather or storm alert in my notification area and when I click on it it opens the app and there is absolutely no weather alert or notification in the app. By clicking on the small notification it clears it from the app so you don't know what it actually said. I hope the developer is working on a fix for this
Still won't automatically update in the background. Doesn't matter the settings, permissions, uninstall and reinstall, still nothing. Great when it works but I have to manually refresh any time I want accurate readings. Would give it 5 stars if this issue would ever be resolved. Oh yeah, and what company doesn't update a paid for app in over a year??
I've been enjoying this app for a year or so. I find it more accurate than any other I've tried... keeping in mind that even weather forecasters can't get it right from day-to-day quite often! If I had a wish list, I'd ask for future radar maps rather than past-to-present, but I understand this is a tech issue with cell phones.
Radar doesn't work when you click on the play button. Also it doesn't take you back to the screen after sending a report about the Weather. All of this used to work. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not fix it. Please don't post any links or anything else that we can't click on or cut and paste.
if i could give it zero stars, i would. It's not because of accuracy or information; the damn app constantly crashes. when i first started using it 6 years ago, it ran perfect. then, after i paid for the ad free version 2 years ago, it has been nothing but a pain in arse.
Although this is an older version, I prefer it to the newer app, especially since the last update for that app which broke the persistent notification! Instead of giving up on AccuWeather altogether, I removed the newer version and installed this one which was still in my shared family library (thanks to my son.) It still works, plus the notification isn't broken! Please keep this one around, as it's the only reason I didn't install weather channel's app instead.
