Matches measurement from optician within 1mm. Keep in mind that you need two phones. I think the accuracy depends on the accuracy of the screen size as reported by your phone with the qr code, it seems to work well with Samsung S7 Edge.
You need two phones to complete the scan, but the problem is every time it scanned my face, it gave a totally different number! That wasn't even close to the real measurements.
This app is really useful, but you need to read the instructions! You need two devices (phone or tablet) one to display the QR code which you hold up to your forehead. Install the app on a second phone and it uses the selfie camera to scan the QR code as a reference and also auto-detects your eye's and gives you a reading. Multiple tries gave me a consist IPD reading. Thank you Acer!
Works well but you have to figure out the details. Like which way to look and where the light is coming from as well as just following directionsand using 2 devices.
For this app to work, you need two devices and you need to follow the instructions. It uses the size of the QR code to calibrate the measurement: if the device with the QR code isn't pressed against your forehead, the measurement won't be accurate. Do a few face scans until you're getting close to the same number consistently so you know you're doing it right (or just use a ruler and a mirror, I'm not your dad).
pretty much unusable. the app wants you to hold it up displaying the QR code on your forehead *and* see you thorugh the camera with the QR code. *But* the app can only show the code *or* look through the camera, not both at the same time. Either this is some way to get on user information that doesn't need any special permissions or the person/s behind this app didn't spend two minutes thinking about the actual usage of the app. one star is too much.
So the app kinda works, but is no way accurate... Depending on which device you use for the QR, you will not get an accurate PD... Using various android devices around my house, I was able to have a variance of 10mm in the apps! Additionally, my professionally measured PD is 69... Closest I got on the app was 53.
Had to take about 2 readings to get the hang of using the app properly, and then took 10 more to calculate my own average IPD. Checked the average I got by measuring using the ruler method, and it was accurate to the average reading I got. App takes a little while to get a hang of but I'd say it's accurate and very helpful.
Obviously I'm not using the app with the OJO headset, since it's not even out yet... But one thing that sort of puzzles me: Why no "single smartphone in front of a mirror" mode? :) But maybe I'm missing something, and that's not feasible.
People have different size phones and you are also requiring 2 phones... There are other objects people could use, but the qr code seems like the least of good solutions, just like everything acer does...
Works great. You need to install on two devices. One to put a qr in the middle of your forehead and the other device to scan your face. Follow the instructions. Thank you Acer for the free app.
I scanned my face ten times, and git ten different readings, with a difference of over 9mm. Wildly inaccurate. Waste of time.
Standing in front of a mirror, with a phone pressed to my forehead like a fool. How about telling the "user" that they need a second camera. OR Better yet, take down the app April 2nd. Thanks for nothing.
Got from 58 to 68mm without moving. Dunno what math this is using but the results varies so much, i can't be sure of any of those measurements.
Depending on how close you good the second phone you get different answers. Got a range from 52 to 64... terrible why do you need 2 phones when it clearly see the eyes
Utterly and completely useless. I got readings differing by 14mm, and it picked up the person helping me better than it picked me up. I didn't expect much, but even this is a joke.
The developers were probably trying to save on pixels by not giving clear instructions. For that reason, the instructions are meaningless. Take the QR code? Take it where?
Useless. first time 68 second time 72. not to mention you have to print a qr code to put on your face or have a second phone. Ridiculous, how do you expect people to use that?
Perfect for ordering glasses online. Measure a few times and take the average. It's right on my actual eye Dr
I happened to have 2 smarthphones and a printer handy and nothing works. The QR code on second phone is too bright and it cannot read it and when the QR code is printed it says it is not an ACER QR code. My conclusion is this app is garbage.
Tried to make it work. Had it downloaded on two phones. The QR code couldn't be read for some reason.
You need two phones to get this to work, but the app doesn't explain it at all. Even then, the measurements were way off. Totally useless.
Tried it with different phones. The results ranged from 59mm to 68mm.
the size of the QR code on the screen seems to change the measurement. So it can't be accurate.
One is too many stars. Can can't display the QR and scan it at the same time.
measurements were all over the place each time i took them so i couldnt get an accurate pd it would read as low as 48 and as high as 64
Accurate +/- 15 mm. That is to say, totally inaccurate. Just get a friend to hold a ruler to your face. You'll get a better number.
Each time different result, first time 67mm, second time 59mm while my real pd is 64mm. That's too big difference
Very bad app. It's functional but I had to find one of my old phones, charge it, download the app, then the app was controlling the brightness of the phone so it couldn't focus on my face and the phone at the same time so I had to screenshot the qr code then it finally worked. A lot of work for find out I have a ipd of 63. Pretty obvious it's just collecting data.
