WHAT IS A COURSE IN MIRACLES – ORIGINAL EDITION?
The Course is the result of the collaboration between two Columbia University psychologists:Dr. William T. Thetford and his colleague, Dr. Helen Schucman.
In 1965, Helen experienced what she described as a Voice which spoke clearly in her mind, saying “This is a course in miracles. Please take notes.” With Thetford’s support and assistance in transcribing her shorthand notes, Dr. Schucman took down some 1,500 typewritten pages of A Course in Miracles over a period of seven years.
As she often explained, she heard a kind of inner dictation and felt compelled to write it down,even though at times she disagreed with the content and resisted the process. The voice, whichspoke through Helen, clearly identified himself as Jesus.
The "original edition" is the unabridged volume of the Course as it was completed by Dr.
Schucman and Dr. Thetford in 1972 and before further editing had taken place.
WHAT IS COURSE IN MIRACLES SOCIETY?
Course in Miracles Society [CIMS] is a 501 (c)(3) [non-profit] organization incorporated in 2000 which holds the copyright on A Course in Miracles Original edition©. It is an international group of Course students and teachers organized to discover, authenticate, and propagate the Divine Teachings of A COURSE IN MIRACLES.
As students, we seek to increase our knowledge of Jesus' words and to deepen our experience of His teaching.
As teachers, we work to circulate the message of A COURSE IN MIRACLES throughout the world by our words, our deeds, and by the example of our lives.
WHY ARE THERE PEARLS ON THE COVER?
In the months preceding the beginning of the dictation of A Course in Miracles, Dr. Helen
Schucman experienced a series of vivid waking and sleeping dreams. In three of those dreams, she was presented with a book. It was thick and black and had large gold letters on the cover. In one of those dreams, she saw it draped in a strand of pearls.
That image is reproduced in the artwork for this edition in homage to Dr. Schucman’s
perseverance and dedication to the completion of the Course.
There is an ancient symbolism to pearls. From the earliest of times, pearls have been
considered miraculous. Unique in all the world of nature, their beauty comes from the most mundane of substances and yet, it is somehow transformed by a living organism into one of the most beautiful objects known to man.
And it is the way pearls "play" with light that gives them their fascinating beauty and their
almost mythical status. Pearls have become, in other words, an archetypal image of what can happen to the human mind that dedicates itself to perfection, utilizing the hard knocks of daily living as a stimulus to growth.

A string of pearls is, in other words, the perfect symbol for ~"A Course in Miracles."

Unfortunately, this app is not working for me. After installing and opening it, the text doesn't show up at all. The workbook shows up, and the Manual opens, but I cannot scroll down through the section titles. I downloaded this specifically for the text since I already have a workbook app that functions fine. Here's hoping you're able to find a fix for this.
Almost perfect! Understood that the content has to be online. However, it should remember the last place read instead if having to reselect it every time the app is opened. Perhaps set a beginng date for the Workbook and open the Lesson of the day. Thanks! I had to stress : The bookmark feature is nice but it is not the same as just pressing one single button and be redirected to the 'Lesson of The Day" for the first time. I keep missing that feature on such a FANTASTIC implementation! :)
Pretty good app. - I changed review from five to three stars after the responses by the publishers. I hope the feature added. Fine enough app w/o. - Requires internet. Request: I'd like to be able to click "Next >" and "< Previous" without waiting for text resources to load. Download text resources to the nobile device's backend to decouple reading the text from having an internet connection. Audio can stay as it is.
Sadly since the update the notifications aren't working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and checked my phone security settings. I would love this app even more if the editing function was improved in the notes section. Very difficult to scroll and edit text. I'd also love a bookmark function.
Another garbage app. Downloaded it 3 times, no text whatsoever. Update: The developer in the reply below says I need a strong internet connection. Well, I do. I run 2 TVs, 2 Tablets, and 2 Phones off of it easily and smoothly. I downloaded their app a 4th time. It still dont work right. I wonder what their next excuse will be. 2nd update: I downloaded it on my new Samsung Galaxy S-10 Plus. It still dont work. Im not sure whay "Samsung Galaxy" they CLAIM to be using.
I like the app at first, but it seems I can't view the entire text. For example, I can only see 22 of the 50 principles of miracles. When I click next it jumps to section VII distortions of miracles, and omitted the texts in between. I tried to uninstall and install again but it is the same.
Beautifully designed app designed for a truly integrated experience with the master work. Allows user to bookmark, easily record notes, search and correlate passages, and record written and audio affirmations of lessons and schedule these for chosen meditative intervals. The usefulness is limited only by the user's imagination. A superb tool to enhance the Total Commitment!! Thank you ❤
Miraculous! Audio as well as clear layout. This is my first read after a voyage into FIP version. I love the style and beauty of this version. The content is simply beyond unbelievable. This book is truly a marvel. I feel blessed and honoured to be able to read it and learn from the teacher. Gratitude and Appreciation for your labour of pure love. 🙏🏼
Such a great and whole app! Includes the Text of Original Edition of ACIM book, workbook to do daily exercise of 365 days and also the Manual for teachers that includes the indepth knowledge about healing, ego, god and our true self. Highly recommend to explore this before you read the book!
This app is no longer working. I can't open the text nor the workshop. It says error! The request time out. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but still the same. It is not working for both IOS and Android. It's been 3 days now. Too bad.
User guide is clear and helpful ( if needed at all). Audio is wonderful and being able to record affirmations is a plus!
I have used this app for 22 months and loved it, until I dropped my phone in the pool and had to re-download it. Now each time I try and open the app I just get an empty page. I'm so sad
I wish their was a way to speed up he narrator the audio is too slow for me
It's a great app. The only problem is that you have to go and find your lesson every time.

Needs work, needs to stay open to the same lesson and have a lesson # search feature. Every time I g ok kn I have to look up the lesson from a list involving clicking through multiple windows and scrolling down to find the lesson again and again. Fascinating to see the differences between the original and current version.
I purchased this app because I loved the idea of being able to take notes and the layout looked really nice (which it is). However, the note-taking section is extremely UNuser-friendly in that it is very difficult to scroll either up or down to make edits and changes, or to see any more than a few lines to see where you are. Extremely disappointing. Also, as another reviewer said, not having any bookmark, or way to go back to where you left off, is ridiculous in such a huge text and makes each day a case of re-reading volumes to find your last read. Yes, I could make a note somewhere but surely a bookmark or "go back to most recently read" options are not too much to ask? Also it would be nice to have a speed up/down option on the audio reader as it's so slow I literally fall asleep when listening. Having spent money to buy the app, which I never do normally, I'd like to see the first 2 things at least sorted out...
