The App:
* detects and monitors speed limits based on the built-in camera and known locations

The app requires the mobile phone to be attached to front shield or dashboard. A good holder and alignment are essential for a good detection rate. See http://www.acodriver-shop.com/ for a list of recommended accessories that give you optimal results.
This app was designed to detect signs in EUROPE ONLY, but was not tested in all countries in the EU. Also the detection rate depends a lot on your individual hardware.
Known limitations:
* Please be aware that visual recognition will never be 100% correct, and that the displayed speed limit might not be correct for the current situation.
* Most cameras used in current mobile phone have limited detection rate at night time or low light. Speed limits will still be displayed based on their known locations.
In the current version the detection of signs makes the following declaration: "The last speed limit I saw is ...."
Security advice!
* Never adjust the position of the mobile or the holder while driving!
* Never drive while looking through the display of your mobile!
* The displayed speed limit can be wrong or not appropriate to the situation.

Useless and incorrect app. Useless because it does not recognize one single traffic /speed sign. Incorrect because it reports wrong driving speeds, and something with a down arrow. If that's altitude, it's very wrong: I was not at 600 meters below sea level. Two stars, for trying.
Most incredible app. Picks up the speed signs even in wet weather. Keeps me away from the car in front and warns if the closing rate is too fast to prevent tail gating. Cannot fault i mount my phone at the top of the screen just below the visor so the camera always has a good view of the road. This also provides minimum obstruction of the road view for my eyes.
Wildly inaccurate speedometer readings, usually showing double or more the actual speed. GPS speed readings in every other app are fine, don't bother downloading
I recently got a Joying Android head unit and wish to use this as one of it's central apps in my car but I cannot seem to get it to see any of the cameras I have on the unit. Does this work on an Android system using an external camera? If so, what kind?
terrible lines every where .yes it works BUT signs appeared on the screen completely filled in the view of what is on the road in front of me
Sortof works. Does detect the lane and some speed signs. Says im doing 288kph when im doing 80kph. Cant read digital speed signs. Needs option to remove all the red lines as its a complete mess. Remove all them and it will look heaps better. Fix the speed detection. Today i was sitting on 60kph and it says i was doing 177kph.
Interesting application, looks like good playing field to improve algoritms before deployment as product for next gen car cameras. Such co-driver could be retrofitted to any car, interesting what could it do if connected to car via odb... Emergency breaking? Adaptive cruse and keep within line? App doesnt recignise if speed limit is for all cars or just for trucks. It would be good to add red/green light recognition with beep on green
I got this app for LDW and FCW, not sign reading or dashcam. Visuals are good, but in 500mi driving, only 3-5 audio alarms in spite of several attempts to deliberately trigger alarm. Wish there was a way to increase sensitivity for audio alarms.
Its a great idea but doesnt work out in real usage. First off, the fact that it shows the live camera image is very distracting while driving and is unnecessary to show most of the info needed. Secondly it doesnt seem to understand city zone start/end sign as used in most of europe (for example Denmark and Germany). Finally it is too easily confused ny truck specific speed limits or the windshield wipers etc. Will try again at some point.
After I tried this five times and it crashed five times, I uninstalled it once.
This is one of the best apps I've ever downloaded.

fails on startup
Misses most of the speed signs and even reports GPS speed wrong or with big latency. Does try to identify lanes, but nowhere near what ionroad does. Also says I'm off road alot, even if I disabled the alert!! Try something else. This was a waste of time.
Learning atitude on street in here.. Thanks a lot guys... Maybe include ecodrive indicator will be perfect..
Usefull
Great potential with a very good GUI. Would be brilliant if it worked properly. Speed all over the place and would benefit greatly (from my perspective) with improved ability to manage alert sounds. Desperately hoping the developers get it right. Of course, it could just be a problem on my phone!
