Acoustic Tachometer (RPM)
Through the calculation frequency, the sound is analyzed to determine the revolutions of an engine.
It is necessary to indicate the characteristics of the engine prior to reading.
May not work on all engines. It works worst with engines with the exhaust sound very muted and mechanical noise engines (air cooled engines).
It is normal to show some value even if no motor function.

too sensitive, app just picked up all background noise as rpm. tried it in a quiet a room as possible and just varied between 3-5000 rpm. when i actually put it close to a motorcycle it made no difference at all.
This acoustic rev counter works very well for me in a Nissan Micra, held in a cradle on the dashboard.. Random numbers come up when the engine is off; when started the rev counter locks on to the sound and registers what seems very reasonable .numbers, judging by results from an OBDii reader. Nice clear readout; Installed it on an old HTC smartphone not used for anything else. Running wiring to a conventional rev counter from the engine would be difficult and messy. This is much simpler and well worth trying..
I rarely give positive reviews, but this app Just Works, and it's super useful. Used it on my car which is an automatic and doesn't have a tach, and a snowblower.
Was *way* off for me. Was trying to see if I could get a reading for setting the idle on my motorcycle, which should be between 1200 and 1500. It was reading 4300, and didn't even change the reading with throttle input.
I find that it works best if u do it outdoors, in a fairly quiet area with the exhaust not aimed at a flat hard surface like a wall.
Sorry to say it didn't work for my chainsaw. Readings were clearly wrong eg reading went lower when the motor speeded up. Maybe too close to the motor? Any instructions?
Im trying to conserve fuel after Hurricane Ida. Tried a bunch of other useless apps before I found this one. It worked great for setting the ideal RPM of 2250 on my generator. Thanks so much!
Total junk. Completely unreliable and inaccurate. Don't even bother downloading.
Not sure why the poor reviews. Works inside the cabin of my SS just fine. I think the some of the bad reviews are from the lack of understanding about how it works. Could update a little quicker though.
Super handy program. Used it during a hurricane to get an idea of how generator was running.
Doesn't actually work. Reads over 4000 rpm on idling lawnmower, with correct settings.
erroneous! doesnt work on a toyota 4runner with a four cylinder and exhaust. immediately uninstalled.
It will tell you the rpm +- several thousand rpm. I can just guess and be in the same ball park.
Didn't work. The values kept changing even in a very quiet room.
Always read 9000+ rpm. Never gave anywhere near accurate reading.
Tried it with a v4 4-stroke engine. Didn't really work at all.
Completely useless for my motorcycle. 800 rpm idle shows 3-to-5000 rpm, constantly changes.
Didnt work on a single cylinder Kawasaki engine. Showed 4k rpm regardless if the engine was even running or not.
Garbage. Don't even bother downloading, can't read rpm at all. 1800rpm dirtbike ranges between 3000-9000 all over the place. (Yes adjusted setting accordingly)
This app is stupid the first picture he's doing it using a ford fiesta but one problem my car or truck can't do it
Works well to adjust the carburator on the chainsaw. Looks accurate on high rpm.
This is a very useful app. I use it to check out and calibrate boat tachs. For some owners of outboard motors, It is hard to set up a boat tach properly. It works with a "live" sound and recorded sound files which in some cases is more suitable. It is crystal accurate - I compared results with those obtained with a software spectrum analyzer.
