Acronis True Image: Backup App

Update Feb 2022 - it's worse than I thought. True Image isn't compatible with Windows 11 and they tried to cover it up by renaming the product. I'll never use Acronis products again and recommend you don't either! Pretty useless app as it won't backup over wifi or mobile network and only works if I connect by USB cable to my desktop, which is just a pain. Crapware!

Way too simplistic. Not enough control over what is backed up. I've been using Acronis True Image on my PC for 3 years and it's a very efficient backup solution. I am extremely disappointed with the mobile version, it's an afterthought at most. You can choose to back up photos, Videos, Contacts, Calendars and Messages, but that's it! You can't customise anything and you can't exclude anything! It's a massive let down, especially for someone who uses ATI on their desktop.

Acronis on the desktop works fantastically for me, but this mobile app is woefully insufficient and does not meet the quality of the desktop application. I've enumerated the problems I've encountered below: 1. I linked my phone and tablet to my computer, and they appear on the backup list. The initial backup completed with no issues 2. The automatic backup refuses to work as it can 'no longer connect' to my computer. Reconnect button in app errors out, attempting to create a new connection errors out. Cannot start over, removing my PC errors out 3. Cloud backup is impossible, as it does not recognize the credentials I use for the Acronis Cloud as valid. They are valid, and a password manager autofills the fields for me 4. After enabling this app, Acronis created a 'cloud' network drive mounted at M:\ on my PC, and began running a service. This service makes the Windows Subsystem for Linux unusable, and according to forums this issue has been around for some time. I had to manually block the service from starting to use WSL 5. Many of these issues have been around for some time, and fixes don't seem to be on the way. Additional backup options for root users would be nice

Only backs up data from the built-in utility apps like the default contacts, calendar, etc. Does not back up Google Calendar, Gmail or anything people actually use. Also, "image" seems to imply that the app would back up an image of your phone like Acronis's desktop software. Which it does not do. This app has on reason to exist because it simply tries to re-invent services that are already provided by Google and integrated into Android.

What I like is it is extremely easy to back up files WHAT I HATE IS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO RESTORE YOUR FILES WHEN NECESSARY. I have been an acronis user since day one, and each new version seems to make backing up extremely simple. On the other hand, God forbid you need to restore something (which is why most of us have a backup program by the way). Restoring is sooo complex that is is nearly impossible to do. In the case of this program I have been totally unable restore my phone messages that were backed up.. No one ever seems to talk about the difficulty it is to restore data with acronis. Acronis has multiple help pages on all kinds of strategies for backing up data, but very limited information on how to restore this data when it is needed. ESPECIALLY ON A FULL SYSTEM FAILURE WHERE THE INTERNET ISN'T AVAILABLE..

Seems OK but very very limited in what it can backup. Most of us already have our photos/videos syncing somewhere, contacts and calendars synced to Google or Outlook, etc. It really just needs to be able to backup more data. We know it will be limited not having root, but you could backup apks (or version them so we can roll back to older versions), files on internal storage, sd card, and apps that allow backups to be taken.

Just installed the 2021-03-26 release, 5.1.8 build 1207. Cleared cache and data. The problem is still there. As of the 2021-03-24 update, the program is completely unable to do a backup. It scans through my files, but as soon as it should start having them up it simply closes. I haven't been able to do a backup since that update was installed.

So much potential but still quite a way to go before it adds value to True Image 2019. It is heavy on battery usage, only fully auto or fully manual scheduling (options of daily, weekly etc would be great), source files / folders are too limited and it continues trying to connect when target computer is turned off (killing the phone battery).

It just doesn't work... I have a 10 device 5TB back up yearly subscription - this year my main pc packed up after updating its drivers, acronis rescue media was useless, pc now at the local recycling yard. This app just freezes, 12 hours stuck on trying to back up my phone, continuous back up does not work at all, it won't make a start until you try it manually. But won't finish. I work in IT, can't believe anyone would try to market such a useless product.

The previous version worked much better (But still wasn't great). This version never backs up on it's own and everytime I do it manually, it scans and seams to backup everything all over again. The next time I check, it says it's incomplete. I wish you guys would fix this. Also, be kind and let us know you are working on it or something. Please.

I just wanted to add that i now haven't had a backup 38 days and no one seems to care. I have had acronis for quite a while and with latest version the backups started failing and the true colors of the company came out. Support was none existent. Had to basically beg for help especially since it looks like its a software issue. Stay away!!!

It does not backup any photos or videos. I thought it did because it said successful of 20000 photos. But when I go to retrieve them there are 0 files that are actually backed up. I've changed the settings allowed all the app permission, etc. done everything possible over and over again and it's simply tells me that the files are backed up and yet backs up nothing but contacts and messages.

Waste of time. Won't log in to Acronis cloud, says the account is disabled or inactive, not true, so it's unusable for cloud backup. No idea if it will backup to another computer or NAS as it will only do so if they are connected to the network by wireless, so it won't back up to a file server on the same LAN even though LAN has wireless access via router.

This app is pretty useless, we can backup stuff that's already backed up by Google.... Contacts, Calendar, Photos, Videos all have automatic Google backups (you may have to pay for full size backups, but it's cheap). SMS is the only thing that's not backed up by Google and it might be useful, but where I live we just use WhatsApp, so SMS is useless to me. I really wanted to be able to backup some of the folders on my phone, like Downloads and others that I created, but no, I can't. Useless App.

This app was disappointing. Don't expect functionality similar to the desktop version. This app does not take an image of your phone. It only backs up contacts, messages and pictures. I can easily do that with Google. I expected more from Acronis. Uninstalled.

Backup to Synology NAS from my S20+ went well. However couldn't recover anything from NAS back to phone. The error message was hard to read as it flashed up quickly. After videoing the screen I managed to capture it. "Couldn't save the media file......". Same message for recovery to phone memory and to SD card. Wasted a lot of time.

I have install Acronis True Image on my tablet and my mobile phone, but I can not open files such as images or documents even to download them. When I try to download it, the app crashes. Can you fix it? It is very good App for people who travel and they want to save their work.

First additional post: I mentioned earlier the difficulty of locating one photo among over 8,000. First the Good: for a complete recovery, photos are restored to the original folders. Now the Bad: Does not have app for backup to Western Digital MyCloud. Not able to browse backup from PC app. Automatic backup does not work.

No MMS backup, so basically pointless. 2 stars because it works and it's better than nothing. Recommend turning the app into a fully fledged one stop shop for complete phone backup, including the SD card. Now that's something I would buy as Android is woefully lacking in well built complete backup solutions. 🙏

I had this backing up as changes happened to cloud, then to a NAS every day. I had a self inflicted issue with my phone that required a factory reset to fix and I thought the backup would save me. Boy was I wrong. I have tried over and over and it will not recover my data from the cloud. An extra gift is that is says the clous backup is incomplete. The NAS wont see my phone as the same. It wanta me to setup new. So both cloud and NAS backups were useless the entire time.A whole year of data gone

The previous version stopped working in February and came up with the dreaded connection error. Our phones have not been backed up since then. This latest release appears to have sorted the problem but no mention in the notes. Not an acceptable way of working.

Very poor.The app worked fine for 9 months then something changed. Both our phones then said all our files were unprotected and refused to backup. The app just came up with connection error. No amount of feedback or attempts to contact Acronis worked. Given the lack of reliability or customer service I would avoid this app.

Horrible. It doesn't back up to SD or local NAS of my choice. I don't want to leave my laptop on for the backup. If the desktop app can back up to any NAS why can't the mobile app do the same? Even some free software on Google Play can support these important features.

Was unable to restore on a new sd card, after the old one died. Some unique i'd android put in the file path caused all copy actions to fail. After it was finished, 1119 notifications with sound, for each failed file. Downloaded backup onto pc and restored via USB. Photo app now sees all pics as created today.

This app seems to be working really well for me so far. Only thing that doesn't work is browsing the backup files on the PC. However, I can browse them from the phone app. I'm going to try to upgrade from v2018 to v2020 to see if that fixes the issue.

Has potential but just doesn't work reliably, making it worthless as a backup solution. Indeed, with the latest update it doesn't work *at all* - constantly just stops backing up mid-process with unknown errors, or just hangs completely. Very disappointing.

It never finished the first backup to my local NAS, the error says the server is in maintenance mode or the subscription has expired, which obviously neither are true, my NAS is running online and smoothly, and I'm using the same subscription as my desktop Acronis. This App is useless in its current form. At least let people finish their first full backup, if you're planning to charge money for the service / in-app purchases.

genuine piece of garbage that has never been fixed Acronis would have to be one of the worse back up solutions out there.i have it on my computer and it is so difficult to use and this app crashes after a few minutes saying it has lost the connection ,so how come this is the only app that has this problem .After 30 or s0 attempts and multiple downloads of the app I give up .this is genuine rubbish
