ACT Photo

Like other reviewers I thought this app didn't work until I read through a bunch of reviews and found out that you cannot go to your "recent photos", which is usually wear your phone defaults to, you have to go to your photo gallery. once I selected a photo by going through my gallery it worked without a problem. You would think that the developers of this app could just read through the reviews and make that fix (or at least give you some better instructions) so that people would not have to waste time or give up altogether.

This app force closes every single time I try to choose a photo to upload. It is very irritating. AND, apparently, this has been an issue for a very long time! One would think that those responsible for the technical aspects of The ACT registration process would be more on top of their game. One would expect professionalism from The ACT. One would NOT expect an app that's required to upload a photo to be completely useless and a waste of time. PLEASE FIX! You've had more than enough time!!

So I need to get my picture before a couple days, so I took a picture when I had time and looked presentable. I would log in then I would choose "Choose an existing Photo". The first time I had to screenshot it so it would come up in my recent photos, because it would only.let me go like 20 pictures in. Okay so not as annoying, but then when I clicked on my photo the app would always say that it stopped working. Okay I get it, happens sometimes with apps, so I hit "restart app" and I typed in all my info again, went through the same process and it said the app stopped again. I have gone through this.process several times and on different days. The only way this app works is if you choose to take a photo.

This app is HORRIBLE. A true waste of time. I've entered my credentials and repeatedly, for the last 30 minutes I've received the same error message stating an error has occurred. It should NOT be this difficult and time-consuming to upload one photo. I'm uninstalling this and will just submit another route. Unfortunate, as to submit it via cell phone would have been very convenient!

Being that no other parts of the ACT sign-up process requires this or any other app, being required to download and use just for the picture part is irritating. Just because something can be an app doesn't mean it should, and I would have greatly preferred you did the sensicle thing and had this as an on-site widget. Many people, particularly with cheap phones, don't have much phone space and it's unfair to them. Also, the app is badly designed. I expected more skill from such a large instution.

This app does not work to upload a pic. It crashes every time. I attempted to upload several times, even trying different pics each time to see if perhaps it was the image quality. But nothing worked. The UE wasn't that good on the main mobile web page, so not too surprised that this photo app is glitchy.

Same as all the other reviews. Downloaded quick, easy user interface, easy to login as well. But when i wanted to upload a pic. i would clicknthe upload option. Then i would find the pic i wanted to use. As soon as i clicked on the picture the app would close and say sorry. So i think this app was a good idea. Just not ready at all.

Update: DO NOT SELECT PICTURE FROM RECENT. CHOOSE FROM GALLERY and thanks to the gentleman who explained how to use the app correctly without getting kicked off. App doesn't work. You'd select the photo to upload and the app would kick you out every time. Hard to give a required photo when the application to do so fails every time.

I installed the app as directed by the ACT web page. It clearly states that you will be able to upload an existing photo. Once in the app there's no place to do so. I tried tapping on "Take Photo" and the only option is to actually take a photo. Extremely annoying!

My sister is trying to upload the required photo and it keeps crashing. This puts a roadblock in her application process, which is required for college. I never had this problem when I took the test because this wasn't a requirement back when I took it. If something you introduce as a requirement doesnt work, fix it or remove it. You have had plenty of time, but it seems nothing is fixed or improved. My sister is upset and stressed, as are others. This isn't fair to them. Fix it!

I'm honestly pretty pissed off with this app, I followed the instructions, but everytime I went to select a picture in my library, the app would completely stop working and close itself. I tried it unsuccessfully 6 times with the same results and nada. I'm just trying to register for my ACT here!!!

WARNING **You are required to take a picture in the app, you cannot use a photo you have already taken** Terrible app. Expect to spend a lot of errors and the possiblity the app wont even work. I had to download on a friends phone because it would not work on mine. From a user standpoint it is a pain to use. From a developer standpoint, I can't believe this is on the play store. I seriously question any organization (ACT) that allows this level of incompetence. Unacceptable.

The app crashes every time I go to select an image. The app needs updated. It's been over 4 years. This is ridiculous for a company like this to have such a buggy and trash application that is essential in test registration process.

Every single time I selected a photo to upload, the app crashed. I feel bad for people who use a smartphone as their only "computer" because this process will definitely require a real computer. The app just does not work.

Do no waste your time...I get as far as selecting the photo and then the app just closes, over and over. In reading the reviews it appears as though most others have same issue. Obviously the developer doesn't care if this app works.

While this app does seen like a good idea in theory, but every time I go into my Android's storage to retrieve my photo, the add crashes time and time again. Whether this is an Android exclusive issue is beyond me, but this photo submission app needs an update regardless.

This app was terrible! As soon as I was going choose an existing image, the app closed down. Repeat 10 times, the same result. The last update was 3 years ago and, it seems the ACT company is EXTREMELY incompetent at designing an app. Bunch of brainlets.

It worked fine for me, I read the comments of people that it didn't work for and the best way it seems to work is to take the photo *outside* of the app in your own camera. Then you go to upload existing photo and do not use Recent for it, go down in the list to Gallery and choose from there and it should work.

Worst experience with an app EVER!! Tried to give it 0 stars but that's not an option. The entire purpose of the app is to upload required photo for ACT registration....but for some reason after trying to upload a photo for hours now STILL everytime I hit upload the "ACTPhoto app has stopped working".... THE ENTIRE AND SOLE PURPOSE OF THE APP IS TO UPLOAD PHOTOS!! FIX IT PLEASE!!

If I could give this app a zero star I would. Every student is required to upload a photo of themselves in order to take the ACT, and from personal experience and reading everyone else's reviews it crashes everytime you try to upload one. The ACT is what gets kids into college, and they cannot get into college without taking the ACT. When you can't upload a photo you can't take the ACT so fix this app.

Every single time i tried to upload a photo the app crashed. I downloaded it on two different phones with the same results. I finally had to just upload the photo to google drive and use my computer.

Would love to give zero stars. What is the point in creating an app that force closes every time you try to upload a photo? I have uninstalles and reinstalled a few times and it still wont work. Guess I will have to try and find alternate option.

The ACT's are stressful enough without having to worry about whether the app's kinks (auto closing/ crash) will be fixed before we lose our testing spot, the penalty if we can't upload a picture in time... which is literally this apps only function and use.

I spent 2 days trying to upload a photo and everytime the app just stops working. Very unreliable product for a task that is crucial and time sensitive. I needed to use a desktop computer to complete the task.

Wow. Really bad. Idk why there has to be an app in the first place to upload, but it is a real pain. 6 out of 7 tries got the error message. My son didn't like the one it accepted so we tried again and got more errors. I've given up for today. Maybe we'll get an acceptable image tomorrow. Word to the wise, if it says you've got a good picture, just take it! Don't reject it and try again!

Same as everyone else. trying to meet a deadline for photo to be added to my daughter's account, but the app force closes every time we click add existing photo. This app needs to be fixed before the deadline so we don't lose our money. All these people on here who have paid their money and can't get their photo uploaded is not a good look for the ACT folks. Please get this fixed socwe can stop stressing!

every time I try to upload a photo, the app stops working and closes. no matter whether I go to get my picture, gallery, recent etc.. the app still closes. This is pure bs! I have no other way to upload a picture, only my phone.

Ok There is a trick to uploading an exisiting photo otherwise the App will crash every time. After logging and selecting "upload existing photo " you must tap the buttons on upper left of screen and choose gallery then select photo. Otherwise, it defaults to "recent photos" amd will crash. Good luck!

App closed when trying to upload photo but thanks to reading the reviews, a user (Not ACT), explained you have to upload photo from your gallery instead of recent which opens automatically. Once I did that I was able to upload using my mobile device without further issues.

App crashes every time you start to upload a picture. It's been since 2014 since the app has been updated. If your not going to update it for people to use then take it down and take it off your site to use so others don't waste their time trying to use it.
