They charge a yearly subscription fee to change the search engine. It's literally just sending the same string to a different base URL. To code that change, it requires absolutely no effort beyond changing a few letters in one string in one place. Crippling useful features unless you pay MORE money is just extortion.
This is a pretty great launcher, I don't understand why people compare it to Nova. They both offer different things. This most recent update is admiral at trying to make the experience less "jarring" with gesture navigation. With that being said, is still just kind of a meh experience using gestures with any third-party launcher. Google really needs to fix it with the next version of Android. Even their own Pixel devices redraw the home screen while using gestures.
Action launcher is great. But my default search engine was changed to bing without my knowledge or consent and required an additional purchase on top of my previous app purchase. Not a good look for previous customers/purchase holders. If you already have a decent launcher pass this one up as many features or beginning to be locked behind different levels of paywalls.
Been a long time user, supporter for 4+ years in a row, but I'm super dissapointed in the devs decision to lock away search engines behind a supporter tier (only Bing is available), even for those that have supported for a long time. I would have likely happily supported the app as I usually did anyways, but I will look for an alternative now.
Use to love this launcher, recently they decided to put Google as well as some customization features behind yet another pay wall. I already paid for the full version so having to pay again just to use Google and get more customization features seems a bit of a rip off to me. Otherwise the launcher is solid, love the app drawers, themes and gestures.
Now I've used to love this launcher and stuck to it for some years, but there's only so much I can put up with. To put access to Google as preferred search engine behind paywall on ANDROID DEVICE is a spit in the user's face. Of multiple reasonable things here that could've been monitized (custom colour pallette, widget embedding into icons, drawer folders, you name it), to hold hostage one of the most basic smartphone functionalities is NOT OK. Farawell, old friend, time to find a replacement.
GOOD START, but for gestures, it needs ACTION: POWER MENU to access Power Off/Restart. The DOCK needs to be separated from SWIPE UP ACTION that opens the APP DRAWER, because I cannot access the APPS under COVERS. Single tap opens the First App, but swipe up still opens the App Draw. Also needs function to install app shortcuts to the Home Screen upon install please...
PLEASE FIX!!! I have the Pixel 6 Pro and love the launcher but when I take my phone off the charger the screen freezes and I can access a incoming phone call or text. Takes about 1 1/2 for me to get to my home screen. I have sent bug reports every time it happened. It's not the phone, because I have had other launchers installed and NO issues. PLEASE FIX SO I CAN USE YOUR LAUNCHER AGAIN!
The stock is pretty good but you can't change any settings without pro, the stock is also light by default which you can't change. The most annoying thing is that if you want to change any colors you have to buy pro. Like even on the freking search bar.
I like the fact that Action launcher is getting better with the extre added features like adaptive zoom, and the home animation, but theirs room for improvement, like make the launcher as smooth as nova launcher, the app experience is not really smooth. Work on that and you guys will be the best.
i love so much about the functionality of this app that it would be a full novel (or at least a novella) to type up, and alas, i only have 500 characters. one of my absolute favourite things, though, is all the customisation options. my phone looks so cool and it makes me happy.
I can't drag and drop Apps/Folders and place them in the order that I want in the app drawer. I also can't create a folder by draging an app on another app in the app drawer. These options helps to easily sort icons.
On Android 13, the most recent Action Launcher update breaks several of its features: - long-press on apps 'edit' feature does nothing - long-press on desktop's 'wallpaper' item does nothing (changing wallpaper picker in AL settings does fix this) - desktop search bar remains even after disabling it in settings
Has been my go-to launcher for several years now. Have tried a number of other launchers across a lot of phones I have but none have come close to Action launcher in terms of what I need! The scrollable app menu and quick page are two absolutely must have features for me that keep me hooked on to this launcher. Other features are great too... I purchased it several years ago but I thought it deserved more so also bought a supporter badge again in 2022.
Used to be 5 stars. I have Pro and when i go to close an ad, it gives a message to upgrade and then says I already own this... I can't get rid of the ads. I have reset, cleared cache, restarted app etc. I hate ads.
Was once a great launcher, but after previously paying for the app they moved to a subscription model to keep the features I'd already paid for. I'm happy to pay my devs, but the subscription price is more than this is worth to me and the features I'm left with aren't enough to keep me.
Broken after last few updates. Bing is the default search engine and no Google Discover. Now we have to pay for the basic features, despite buying the app in the first place.
I like the layout and functionality of this launcher and its shortcuts for each app. Not too happy that the last major update broke the ability to display my phones native theme engine icon packs.
I really like this Launcher but I can't use it anymore since the latest update. Each time I activate it, my phone will go blank until I am able to switch back to the default theme on my phone. I am looking for a way to downgrade to the previous version.
48.0 update broke the At A Glance widget. It's stuck at the "dinner with Katie in 30 minutes" message with a note to "tap to enable weather" which items the settings screen for that, but changes nothing. I'd have reported this other than here, but that no longer seems possible.
Was great until later update put google search behind a paywall even for people who had paid before. No indication given about how long a "support" payment lasts before you lose features again. I understand supporting development but it needs to be clear when you will have to pay for features again.
Been using this for years, and one of the best app, no complain, but suddenly starting last week, the default icon of Phone app in my Huawei P30Pro is change itu Contact icon... 🤔 Already reinstall the app but still not working, please fix it.. 😁 🙏
Unusable on Samsung. On One UI 4.0, with the gesture navigation enabled, this launcher is pretty much broken. Access to the multitasking view through the usual swipe up gesture is completely botched.
At a glance widget broken with last update. Stuck on "dinner with Katie in 30 minutes". Had to convince wife I don't know a Katie. Launcher is slow and problematic. Used to be my favorite and I don't know what happened to it. Switched to Microsoft launcher and it's like I have a new phone, much faster! They also ported over all my icons and folders from action launcher so it feels the same, only more stable and faster.
Scam app. They make you pay for pro features and slowly take away features and put it into a higher tier to make you pay again. They force you to use Bing unless you pay when you could use Google without issue before. Use Nova launcher or anything else instead of supporting these bait and switcher scumbags.
Have been a long time user of AL, and have enjoyed it very much, until the default search engine mysteriously got changed to Bing. Then, i now need to pay again to get google back as my default search engine. Not cool!

BUT RIGHT KNOW I ENCOUNTERED A SMALL DETAIL, IF YOU GO TO SETTINGS >QUICKBAR > SO I ADDED APPS THERE, BUT WHEN I HAVE TO PICK I ICON FOR IT FOR EXAMPLE SNAPCHAT THERE IS NO SNAPCHAT ICON :( SO I HAVE TO PICK SOME RANDOM ICON IS ALREADY IN THERE, PLEASE UPDATE THE ICONS LIST OR SOME HOW RESIZE THE SNAPCHAT ICON TO USE IT ON QUICKBAR. THANKS :)
Used this launcher for years and have liked it better than others. HOWEVER even though you buy this launcher, (pro version), after a certain amount of time if you don't "support" them (aka, continue to pay them for using their app), you start to have limited access to features--like only being able to use Bing vs other search engines. SUPER SKETCHY!
