I really like this app. I'm just getting into digital drawing so figured I'd try it out on my phone before getting a tablet. It's super simple and easy to use, but...there are some issues. It's very slow to zoom in and out to the point of glitching, and the auto fill sometimes makes the entire drawing glitchy and weird, and doesnt fill. It's very frustrating because I'm in the middle of a drawing but I cant really finish it because the app keeps glitching and ultimately freezing.
It has a decent set up, but it is actually pretty hard to use. There are too few brushes and it can be hard to use them without it thinking you are trying to bucket fill. And trying to zoom and pan, is aganizing. There really should be a re-do button that can undo the undo button. but overall, this app would need TONS more work to even be considered a 'decent' artistic tool. All this causes is more stress and anxiety than trying to get the lines right and it is painfully annoying.
I enjoy being able to use illustrator on my phone. Being able to use vectors for designs and prints and such. The only thing that I hate, absolutely hate and get so frustrated with, is the undo and redo gestures. I'm either zooming and panning when I don't want to or undoing and redoing when I don't want to. It really lenghtens my time working on my projects. An option to have the gesture on or off would be great.
The app isn't bad, besides the controls. Which is 90% of this. The undo and redo functions are way to similar to the zoom in/out function. And when I try to move around the canvas, it just zooms in/out and I'm then accidentally undoing everything and it's crazy annoying! Plus, in my opinion, there should be some sort of lasso tool. Or if there is a lasso tool, I can't find it. The only thing I like is one of the pens but eh. And this was voted 1# art app on Android? smh
Pressure sensitivity is present and functional, there are 4 fully adjustable brushes plus an adjustable eraser, the zoom is a little weird, but you could get used to it. They have a color wheel as well as preset themes, and you can make your own theme. I haven't found an eyedropper, which is a bit of a downer. You can't choose a custom size and the sizes only go up to 3,600x3,600pixels, but if you're doing rough sketches you'll touch up on a computer that isn't too bad. Overall pretty good.
Pros: Simplistic and very easy to use. This app doesn't inundate you with a myriad of tools which is both good (for a beginner) and bad (for the more advanced artists). The app is very easy to navigate and use which is another plus. Cons: None of the paint brushes are labeled so you have to do a bit of guess work to figure out what they are. Another con is when you are zooming in and out it can become frustrating to get the project to move left and right.
As a graphic designer I really love all of Adobe's products. That being said I am and have been experiencing a bug where I cannot access any of the art that I have started in my Ipad on my Samsung note 8. This makes things impossible for the finishing of some designs. Very frustrating error. It says it's because the version used on the ipad is newer than the one on my Samsung. Both apps are 100% up to date as well. Would love to see this issue resolved so that I can truly work on any project with ease, anytime I want. Please please please fix this issue.
Great for graphic designers who are just getting started, allowing them to blend colors using the light opacity. The most disappointing thing about this app is that whenever I had to clear the data, it would undo most of the work I've done for the past 14 days. All the colors are gone, especially when I made blending detail. 😫I worked 3-4 hours per day on it
This app is amazing, and I love the simple layout with various tools and functions. However, I wish that the Apple and Android qualities were one in the same. On Android we can't rotate the picture efficiently, we can only zoom in and out which makes it difficult to acheive curves that we want in our drawings with comeplete lines. Another thing is that on Apple, they are able to zoom in by 600%, which on Android is much less. Please update the app to these standards. Thank you. 😊
I think this is a wonderful vector-based drawing app for Android, but I have one main complaint: the gestures! Sometimes simply trying to zoom in and out can result in undoing your last action, which can be a tad frustrating. I can't tell you how often I inadvertently undo my last action meaning I have to stop and redo it just to restore. Sometimes the shape resizing and rotating doesn't respond as intuitively as I'd like. Despite these flaws, I still highly recommend.
Although had the ability to be a great app with awesome features, the mechanics of it re simply off. The gestures to undo/redo are a hit or miss, so if you make a mistake have a steady hand to use the eraser. On top of that the "pan" (which is to move the canvas around) was lagging and at times just stuttered across. The zoom function also a pain. I was working on a project and got so frustrated I deleted the whole thing and the app. I was about to break something because I was so furious .
I do love this app. It's very smooth and I love to make different projects. BUT, Things do go wrong. I wouldn't be able to auto fill because I suddenly can't anymore. And, When it "fixes itself" everything that I autofilled was white and I had to re-do almost everything which was really disappointing. I zoom out and it would be gone. I've gotten rid of it and downloaded it again but that doesn't fix the issue. Five stars if this is fixed.
This is my preferred app for drawing because I find the vector aspect very useful for what I do. But the controls for moving around the screen are really, truly awful. They very rarely register that you're trying to do anything at all and when they do, they usually think you're trying to undo something, not move around. The app is great until you're trying to look at another part of the image, and then it's five minutes of frustration trying to get it to pan over.
The app is really nice. Needs some improvements. Like, sometimes when I want to select a color it does not read the pen, I have to select with my fingers. The same when I want to change the layer order. Sometimes when I zoom, the image leave the center. Is not easy to understand how to fix a circule for instance. But really nice, please improve it for sure will be better and I totally recommend it
Every once in a while I will be far along in a project and use the fill function and all of a sudden the outlines disappear completely. I hit undo, bit the outlines stay a completely different color rendering my project entirely useless. I cannot seem to get it back to the original black outline before it decided to do this. It's frustrating to say the least!
Honestly I think my only issue with this app is the lack of being able to transform a custom part of the layer instead of it being the whole layer itself. Still glad it even has the transform option though. Other than that I am very happy with the app, little to no lag, alot of options with brushes and colors. Even the ability to store your own ones. Good job!
The drawing part of it's almost perfect, but I think the photoshop part needs work. Could you please add the option to change the canvas size? Also when I put an image on there, zoomed out, then put another that's exactly the same file size, the second turned out much larger. I'd appreciate it if the app would preserve the original picture size so I know how to adjust it when uploading my stuff to websites.
Really the best app . It has the option to choose the canvas you want to. Nice drawing tools. The layers can be edited. It also has option called learn gestures, so that the beginners can find it easy to do the project. If I keep on telling the text space will end. Do see it to yourself. It really has beautiful options. I would prefer to definitely use app. Its just awesome.
In the first two weeks of experience with this app, everything went well and smooth. I thanked Adobe Illustrator Draw because i made it to pass my projects on time. However, when i was using it for a month now, everything went to chaos: cannot auto-fill, the app is lagging and crashing, the white background has disappeared and the redo/undo tap is very tricky. Please fix. I've recommended it already to my fellows. Thank you.
This is a really good drawing app. I like all the different settings for brush size and sensitivity and color. And the layering is awesome, multiple layers and you can even layer pictures from your gallery in too. I'm a bit confused on how you get the pictures saved after you draw them. I know there is a way but I forgot how to do it and I forgot my sign-in stuff so I can't log in right now. But good app.
I used to love drawing on this app, but all of a sudden I couldnt fill spaces in anymore, and whenever I drew a line, It would turn into a block. Furthermore, some lines don't appear. When you exit the drawing you can see they're still there but when you click back on it, it disappears. I don't know if this is just a bug or something, but please try to fix it. I can barely do anything on it now which is extremely stressful. Thank you
Trying to move to another section of the canvas is a truly frustrating experience. Every time it becomes an endless loop of zoom in, zoom out, zoom in, undo, zoom in, undo, redo... It's a PITA. It needs to be separated from 2 finger gestures. Also options such as changing layers, hiding all but the canvas, selecting colours won't recognise the pen, only a finger tap. I've wasted more time trying to get the app to work than drawing.
Definitely not for every artist who uses Illustrator. I enjoy being able to practice up on my designs with the app and sketch out ideas during my down time, and so for that I am grateful for this app. For some of my work ideas, it is limited. One of the most noticable for myself, is the inability to blend colors. The pen tips are cool but could be more varied. Personally, I dont mind the app being limited, because it IS free, and I pay for Illustrator, so its no biggie.
This is my favorite drawing app on my phone, I love it a lot... but recently I find that it is being slow/jumpy, and when I use the area fill it either doesn't show the color or deletes the lines. But with the layers, it shows up fine, like it should on the big overall picture. I'm not sure what caused this, I've cleared my data/cache, and the app says nothing about an update so I'm quite stuck.
I use photoshop on my pc at home and was looking for a app to draw on my phone while I was on the go. The layers function was a must for me so I was happy to see it here. But I can't see myself finishing a piece through this app easily. The biggest hang up for me is no select tool and almost no transform options. I use digital mediums to sketch because of these tools so at best I could draw on ruff form and then have to keep an eye on what I'm drawing on each layer so I can manipulate as needed. I'm running on a note 8 so it's not got a horrid processor but I felt the lag after four layers so its not like I could get around this with multiple layers. Also locking pixles was a missed feature as I often sketch in color to define the layers and colour them as required later. My final impression is that I will keep using this while keeping an eye out for apps that have the funtions I need most.
I thought this would be fun to make at least rough drafts on my phone to then carry into illustrator on my computer, but the responsiveness is HORRIBLE. Ex: If I write "hello" in cursive with a stylus, the app is SO slow at responding that almost no details come out and it's illegible. Contrast that with Instagram or another app, and I can write "hello" with the same stylus at a normal writing speed and it will pick up everything perfectly. This makes the app useless for drawing at normal speeds
I'm very sad to lose this app. It has been one of my go to app for creative expression on mobile. As a cc customer I wish there was an android alternative. I guess I'll have to just use the apps on my laptop to draw and design, which is absolutely sad because inspiration hits at anytime and I pay for creative cloud to document my design ideas.. I guess I'll go back to sketching on paper or something. Idk.. so frustrating.
