Really enjoying this game. It's actually about escaping & not mindlessly tapping the screen for objects you can't even see! Puzzles are challenging but not frustrating, and you have the option to skip them. Graphics are a pleasant change from the 50-rooms genre; I'm done with those. Someone actually put time and thought into THIS game. Hooray! Additional comments after completing game. I had just finished raving about the precision of the graphics, then advanced to the next chapter. It was almost like a different game, with large areas of rooms covering the entire screen, making detail difficult to discern. More then once thereafter I only accidentally located objects I needed - back to random tapping again. Still good game & will try more.
I've just completed the first chapter and so far so good. Having played most of the other games, I must say this is similar to the others, same kind of gameplay, different story with the exception of the shape shifting feature. If you enjoyed the other Haiku games, you'll like this one too. Edit: It seems I don't get a menu to pause or close the game, I have to just restart the level which I find very frustrating. Some puzzles are too difficult considering I've just started playing.
This is a great game and the concept is highly unique, but a few of the puzzles were impossible to solve without purchasing stars. The most frustrating and tedious of which was the conversation with Euphemia (sp?). Other than that, most of the puzzles were brilliantly put together and required outside-the-box thinking and attention to detail. I really enjoyed the game overall.
Awesome game! awesome story and art and it's hard!! so many escape games are kind of obvious, but not this one. the puzzles and techniques are also quite varied which is really nice. also sometimes even once you know how to solve a puzzle it's still going to take quite a hit of time to actually manage it. some of them are really tricky. love it!
The game is fun! One of my favorite adventure escape concepts so far. The shapeshifting provides a neat new angle and makes it more interesting. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because so many of the puzzles are too difficult. Several of them took me over an hour and I still wasn't able to complete them without help from the internet. Maybe I just have a different expectation than the creators, but it's discouraging when I get stuck on almost every puzzle.
I love these games but there seems to be issues in every one of them. Haunted Manor had issues with touch screen, where it would work some times and not others. This game I cant get past the first cage, it won't respond even though I solved it. Glitches like this can ruin it for me. Otherwise I would play every one. Great graphics and fun puzzles.
I've just completed 2 chapters of this game so it's still early days but so far so good. I haven't experienced any issues with the game & I find it's fun & engaging. It has good graphics, control & interesting plot. The puzzles can be challenging and sometimes the instructions aren't very clear so that's annoying. But apart from that, overall it's a very good game. It's free & doesn't bombard you with ads like other games which is a huge plus. So definitely give this a go & enjoy.
I play tons of these escape the room types of puzzle games. This one is by far my favorite so far. The graphics are pretty. The puzzles are unique and challenging. There are plenty of free hints in case you get stuck, but not too many. My favorite aspect so far is the cohesive plot. Usually these games have no rhyme or reason. This one has a great story. Great job devs! :)
I liked this game up until a puzzle that couldn't be completed. the one where you have to fit all the items in the box. I somehow managed to drag a clover off the screen and couldn't get it back. rebooted to see if that would fix it. now I cant find the cork. i tried rebooting 3 times and the cork is still missing. guess I'm done playing.
Typically love Haiku games, but this one has got to be my least favorite. I usually get hooked and play beginning to end in one sitting, but it is taking me months to complete this one because I keep closing it out of frustration. These puzzles are A LOT more difficult, and some of them just flat out don't make sense (clockwork, lasers, Euphemia convo)!! I gave it 2 stars because the shapeshifting aspect is unique and kinda cool, but I actually hate this game.
Haiku games never disappoint me; this one has nice graphics, challenging puzzles and a neat little story. In some parts, clues are not very helpful or they give a hint that is already very obvious, which is a waste of stars. Other than that, I look forward to playing more. Thanks to the developer for your hard work!
Love this game so far! Interesting storyline, challenging puzzles. The only suggestion is to make the tutorial at the beginning optional. This is not the first Haiku puzzle game i've played, and I really just wanted to get into it w/out the walkthrough at the beginning that forces me to use a hint that i didn't need to use. Other than that, awesome game!!
Fun theme, with the supernatural. Great game overall, as I've come to expect from Haiku games. However, some of the puzzles are very unintuitive and require hints, which I wouldn't have figured out in a million years. Otherwise it would be a 5. Also, hard to play on small devices. Had to zoom in often and use high brightness
I love adventure escape games. This is the weakest one I've played so far. Some of the puzzles are really bad -- just not enough clues to help figure out what to do. I've had to use a lot of hints, and even a walkthrough once or twice. The other stories I've played, I've used very few hints and no walkthroughs. Also, the story for this one just isn't that compelling. But do play their other games. They're great!
So far it's a fun.game to play! Puzzles are challenging with out being impossible to solve. Graphics are on point too! Great job! I just wish we could get more stars without having to buy them or wait forever to get a free one for watching ads. Other than that, it has been a fun and challenging game!
I can't get past level 5 - because the drawer under the lamp won't open. I have restarted the level, tried to complete each task in different combinations, and lighting each lamp one after another, but it still won't open. So frustrating because I really enjoy the game. Just isn't working and now I can't progress.
The graphics and storyline were great. It was difficult to earn stars or be able to use hints because I was never able to save enough stars. Many of the puzzles were difficult and the free hint (if it had one) didn't explain well what to do. I needed to use walkthroughs more than I'd like.
I've always loved Haiku games and I'm almost done playing all of them! This is the hardest one so far since it's a bit tricky, the hints can help you but you still have to put an extra effort to be able to finish a puzzle. For those who are planning to play this, do not forget your character is a shapeshifter because this is the main reason why I always feel like I can't proceed any more further in the game---I tend to forget that I can change into an animal most of the time! Hahahaha!
I have just started playing this series of games as many do not work on my Chromebook. I'll be sure to review each one as they deserve exceptional credit because they are truely free. I could suggest that it would be nice to have speaking characters, but I don't mind reading the dialogue-especially when it contains clues. I do think others are better in terms of puzzles and storyline-but, I am enjoying the Victorian feel and mystery.
very fun game with an interesting story and very nice art! Moira is a good player character. the puzzles aren't always intuitive, however, and some of the controls are a little janky. the monocle puzzles were EXTREMELY tedious, I wouldn't have made special vision part of the shift like with the cat. otherwise very enjoyable.
Haiku games are amazing!! Most of them don't require down time to regain 'keys' to continue on to the next chapter. So, you can cruize on thru at your own speed! They are difficult enough puzzles to pass the time and make you think, but not so annoyingly hard that you throw your phone. This is the 3rd game Haiku game I've downloaded and loved that it is free! Ads are hardly noticable (click the X as soon as it pops up, between chapters ONLY). HIGHLY recommended!!
Some of the pictures perspective is off, puzzles are difficult because it's hard to match pictures and instructions are vague. Otherwise, good story. Puzzles are impossible, had to use walkthrough to finish the game. Very annoying. I like a challenge but this was way past that. Still good story
pretty good. this one's puzzles are a little more challenging and somewhat tedious comped to other games I've played by Haiku. it was still a good game, interesting story, and I especially liked the shape shifting part. added another element to the game that makes it even more interesting and challenging (wish this concept or a similar one was present in all the escape games)
Awesome "click n' point" adventure/puzzle game. On 2nd to last chapter, only once so far have I ran into a (certain) puzzle that made no sense to me, even after watching a walkthrough vid over several times, analyzed the 'answers' and still couldnt figure out the rhyme or reason (to solve it, besides random luck). That, or I'm just not as smart as I think I am, and got perma-stumped, yay for walkthroughs on YouTube lol
This is a good game. Relaxing, enjoyable..puzzles have a strong level of difficulty too. Some are even frustrating..which can be a good thing. All the more satisfying when completed. The whole room is a puzzle in it's self. Plus the small games. This was a satisfying download. I'll download more of their games.
Very over complicated. Solving the puzzles is a literal pain. The "clues" you obtain while searching the rooms and/or map are so vague it takes a ridiculous amount of time to riddle it out. I finished all 8 of the chapters but I was so frustrated during game play that I would not want to try other games from this developer. If you play games to relax this is definitely NOT worth the download.
Interesting storyline, quick tutorial, easy mechanics and then we get to the puzzles part where some does not make sense like the gears puzzle where they don't even fit so good luck getting that one (although it has hints on its colored parts). To be honest, it's just the feature of puzzle games that everything takes time to figure out - becoming both frustrating and fulfilling. The supernatural theme is fun though, if you like that.
I like the "Shapeshift" aspect, taking on another form's talents and abilities. It works well with the first forms. Not so much the last form. Could have been a shapeshift that helped the game more. Instead it provides a frustrating visual impairment. Difficulty: you'll be able to figure most things out on your own with minimal help until the last chapter, which is a bit of a visual and inorganic clue-giving mess. Still, loved the theme of the game and the protagonist being a woman of color.
