Adventurer League 2D Retro RPG

Broadly roguelike retro role playing game with exploration, turn based combat and permadeath set in a low fantasy world.
Just so you know, for technical reasons the game is in English only, and translations are unlikely in the foreseeable future.

So it's a lot of fun for sure, but it gets old really quick. Once you gain access to the hinterlands, there's really nothing else to do to progress, you just complete tasks for random people you meet at bars and fight the occasional random encounter. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the quests, there's a fair bit of variety in them and there are some fun stories, but it kinda just gets repetitive and old.

This one was great! The story of every character was great! This one require strategic thinking and positioning, all the negative reviews are just people having a hard time to accept their defeat and refuse to try again. Anyways here is a suggestion, maybe add a 1 or 2 new tavern quest? After a while its getiing pretty much boring escorting that, eliminate that. But again, great game!

Wonderful game! I was worried all the text would drag it down, but it's well enough written that it actually adds depth and gives quests meaning. Combine that with a map that's fun to explore, and combat that's simple but risky, and it creates a compelling world where success feels meaningful and losses feel devastating. My one complaint is that new party members should be easier to find. It's bad enough traveling back to a big town to find one only to find a class that won't work.

Great game, like playing dnd on mobile. Really fun exploring all the different character interactions and unique quests, with very few bugs and ads. Some things and quests can get a little monotonous after a little while, like becoming champions in auherts beacon or collecting the captain's lucky spyglass, though. Very good game.

I played game a few months ago and thought it was a cool concept, the fight sequences were not bad by any means, but it was definitely hard. One wrong move could mean restarting. With this new system in place with actual stats and uncertain damages, the game feels so much better! I uninstalled it awhile back for some idle game, definitely not getting rid of it now. So good.

It's a good enough game. A great time waster. It's fun, and handles ok. However...there are flaws. Lemme be blunt. The combat is wack. It can be good, but there are several senarios you'll he faced with a large group of enemies. Most I ever saw was...10 or 12? And you only have 4 and that's with a perk. It's super unbalanced. When you have to rely on the random environment to bring a helping hand it's bad game design. Especially because enemies can easily swarm you. The quests tho are amazing.

An interesting little game with an old-school style of gameplay. Some people find it too harsh with it's permadeath, the need for supplies, and such, however this is how the older games were. They didn't hold your hand and give you everything for free! The combat may seem difficult at first, just be patient and draw the enemy into a position to your advantage. Stepping back from an enemy is a fine strategy if you are drawing them into a position where you can hit them with all your characters!

I've had a blast playing Occidental Heroes these past few weeks, the gameplay and controls are simplistic but complex and the graphics are are excellent. I can't find too much to critic this about. I would love it if we could get more unique quests, more oddities, more fighting classes and over all more content. Maybe it is present in the game, but i haven't survived long enough to get to it, my wandering party has died like 37 times so far. Anyway, i love this game. Its just unique.

it's a very fun game. The combat is fun. The graphics are fine for what it is. The developer seems to really enjoy what they do. The interactions in the game are decent. My one th I'm not is that I'm not sure how to raise the resolve for my characters. It seems to go down just about every other fight. I understand losing resolve is caused by your health level after combat but not sure how to raise it.

I like the concept, but it needs a bit of pollish and tweaking. It has the same problem that many second-rate roguelikes do, that is, there is a fairly even difficulty level, until one point. At that point the difficulty spikes and It becomes a much different game, where only sheer luck will get you through. Otherwise it's reminicent of classic rogue-likes and it has a high level of pollish. I enjoyed it a lot, except for the one drawback listed above, which pretty much kneecaps this game.

The written work is excellent, literacy is very professional. Has a variety of characters though they aren't varied enough. For example, as a main character, the fencer is the only good choice since the other choices don't have any interesting feats. What makes this masterpiece more lacking is the combat. It looks boring, having some animations would do, or have something like skills, just improvise the poor combat gameplay. More item choices, have female characters, and a bigger world.

The game has a very solid foundation, the combat is nicely strategic but it doesn't take a genius, but I believe there are numerous choices that are holding the game back. For example, the limit to a mere three on the characters available for combat. While, yes, it allows the player to get all of the available classes, it doesn't let the player customize their deck enough for a game that allows you to pick the classes of your party. The amount of a certain type of class will effect your play style heavily and the choice to leaving it to three really hampers the amount of what they can do away with. If you want or need to balance that, well, the amount of shares going around would make it harder for the heroes to gain their share, making it harder to reach their goal while making the individual fights eaier. I reccomend that there be defensive options for Fencers and Man-At-Arms. Like block options for the latter so that they don't take damage at all but skip one move and cannot use it until a certain amount of turns. Or maybe allow Fencers to move two squares since they are the most agile so they can defend by creating distance. (Fencers lack greatly in defense, too much actually)

quiet addictive and fun. The problem is, as you level up, all your foes also become stronger. the levelling system is not very useful. as you level up, you still have the same difficulty when fighting now and when you first play the game. There arent really "easy" enemies to kill. would be great if one zone has easier enemy than the other like the area around the first town you in when the game starts.

An original game with a lot of heart. I'd love to see more and more updates with a bigger map and more quests. I love how the "trivial" quests are mixed in with "story" quests, requiring you to read the plot of each one. The first time I went to the witch hut and I'm scrolling through text, the background changed to inside her hut. These little details add up to create a game you know the developers care about. Can't wait for content updates!

Game is fun, for the first ten to twenty playthroughs. once you've tried all the different backgrounds and gotten the best endings, there's really no reason to play anymore. You'll find yourself doing the exact same thing over and over: Battle, avoid hits like the plague, and loot, eventually building up enough money to retire. Of course, you can always do the odd jobs people ask for, but those are boring and repetitive. In the end, that's how I'd describe the game, boring and competitive.

I made a very bad review. The game is really good. gameplay is a old school, turn based top down view thing going but how you can set up strategies is really cool. I wish you can skip your turn without having to level up your party members. it can get a bit repetitive but it's a RPG what do expect. Writing is very well done and can be immersing at times. I will say the moving from town to town can be painful. I wish you can click a square far away from your icon and it moves there.

I played this a while back and was astonished by how simple, yet tactical the gameplay is. The quests to get the 100% completion were also very good as well. Sadly, once those were over, the game just becomes a grind to get the characters to a comfortable retirement. But, the recent updates introduced some fresh new quests involving parties that didn't give out quests before. It does still get repetitive if you're looking to 100% it, so I can't give it perfect marks. Overall, good game!

Since the update a lot has changed, the meta of 2 archers and a warrior was destroyed and it let you have three of a class(would not recomend :P). There's a metric ton of new and thrilling content that really makes think between the options. The character missions are still difficult (a good thing). The only downsides I see is one: the different armours have no differences except being direct upgrades, which I don't mind much, and two: you have to trade in your items, and can't give away old gear

A rare gem in mobile gaming. This has to be my favorite. I originally played it a long time ago and got with it. I just started playing again abd the developer has added a lot more new content to the game. To those that are frustrated that you can't skip turns it's part of the gameplay where some of your characters attain it through backstory quests as well as other features, some start out with the ability. I highly recommend this game especially with all the new content.

Great game, light, challenging, and fair. And for a simple turn based strategy this is a definitely a good game. My only problem with this game is that after 10 hours or so you probably already done and left to explore the sandbox world. I don't mean it lacks content as you can just restart with other main characters stories, but if possible I would like the story to be longer in every character campaign.
