I have been using this dictionary for a long time now and i do find it very useful, specially to dearch Kanjis that i dont know of. also, i ran into some recurring crashing troubles with the app of which i sent three (!) reports to the developer before finally uninstalling and reinstalling the app again. it worked. kinda like have you tried to switch off and switch on the pc 😅 anyway great app.
The best, period. Been using it for years (v2 then 3) for everyday use. Might not be the sexiest (although the dark theme is nice enough), but definitely the most feature-rich, handy and easy to use, not to mention fastest Japanese dictionary around. I still test other new apps from time to times, always come back to Aedict. Paid version worth every penny!
Edit 2: Martin helped me out in getting my large list of flashcards moved to my new phone when i thought it wasnt possible. Great customer service. Thanks!! Amazing dictionary and essential for learners of the language. Edit 3: Can indeed turn off automatic updates, which is nice. Thanks for the feedback.
Excellent! But, please fix this bug um having. Very occasionally when I choose example sentences the app glitches and reverts back to the results for the previous word I was looking up instead of showing the sentences for the current word. Has happened today for もがくand つっこむ
I use it every day. This app is very good value for money. There are many features especially useful for learning Japanese. The developer responds to bug reports and feature requests. The dictionaries from wwwjdic are updated regularly.
Paid for all the updates and extensions to support the developer and latest version removes a lot of features, including paid for extensions. Honestly, just very poor form. I dont begrudge developers making money, but this was a slap in the face. Avoid.
I've been using Aedict since it first appeared on Android and it has been very useful during my previous trips to Japan and later living in Japan. But you have to realise this first: Aedict is good for single words or grammar stuff, Google translate is useful for sentences. First I've purchased this dictionary, later I opted in for subscription. 160JPY(1.5USD) a month is dirt cheap, considering the ammount of work behind this and realising what 1.5USD a month is. Definitely kudos to the dev
I am very disappointed that you have decided to take away features that I paid for. It's a shame because aedict is the best Japanese dictionary I've found so far. I didn't notice until just now, because I just reset my phone. Went to use kanjipad and it wasn't there anymore.
Used to be the best japanese dictionary app hands down, but the developer retroactively took away features I paid extra for, and now asks that I pay for them again. He seems to want to rationalize this with the conflicting statements that buying it again isnt that expensive and that the app doesnt make much money anyway. Doesnt matter - he took my money for a feature, then disabled that feature and wants me to pay again. How do I know he wont try and rob me a third time?
The functionality of this surpasses the original amazing classic jisho, and with that shutting down soon this may well be the best English-Japanese dictionary by a significant margin. I'm very impressed.
Used this for years. Just fantastic. But there is a small glitch: the 'Word of the Day' notification word never changes!
There are no lack of free and good Japanese dictionary apps on Play Store, but none compared to Aedict3 feature-wise. Many users gave it a one-star rating after the developer moved some previously paid features to subscription model just doesn't do it justice.
Amazing! Unique, helpful and impressive. This is a great dictionary; simply what I have been looking for.
The best JP dictionary app, have been using it for years. It has a lot of context and searching is easy.
I'm shocked... I paid for previous versions. I can't believe the developer removed things I deliberately paid my money towards. There are 100 apps put there that now do more for you than this app. This used to be the best Japanese dictionary out there... this developer isn't customer friendly so beware
I already purchased this app and other extension app before and there are no restrictions. now, I can't use full functionality because it is asking for subscription from which I need to pay again.. why??
Used to be the best. I PAID for extensions that now are removed and I will have to pay monthly to get them back. Completely unacceptable!
Bought a paid version before, and while I usually don't like apps with subscriptions, for this particular one I decided to support developer and subscribed. Hope this will help to keep this app alive ;)
I purchased years ago. Now the dev removed some features and requires you to pay monthly subscription to re-enable them.
Best free dictionary on Android. Fast, customizable, and really convenient interface.
most english meanings of words are too tiny in font on the note 9 os 9.0. Need adjustable font size for everything.
I have problem again about notepad and its order that are not same on my 2 phones. I already mentioned on github today (June 18'21). Hope to get help from developer soon.
It was a 5, but just upgraded to android 10.0 and it crashes now. Rating will go back to 5 when this problem is fixed.
Does not display the most common word properly and we often end up using unusual/weird words
It's good, has lots of options and great technical performance. What runs new the wrong way though is that search options (starts-with, ends-with etc) are severely cut off, making them impossible to read. This is a basic UX problem that I haven't found any solution for. Also, there's no good way in-app to see what the subscription gives you. Free is a feature screen, but the google play payment popup appears directly over it, and backing out of that backs you out of the screen altogether.
