AEMULA - 486 PC Emulator

Aemula is a virtual PC mainly for running DOS programs, playing DOS games, and even install Windows 3.1. This app is started because the author wanted to play his old time favorite CIV2 on ARM powered tablets. To make this dream come true, this emulator is implemented with hand optimized assembler and multi threading emulation to squeeze every bit out of your dual core tablet. Under the humble cover is a beast that can turn your device into a cutting edge PC in the early 90s.

• i486 PC emulation, capable of running DOS622/Windows 3.1.
• CPU Speed adjustable on the fly. When running at 10MIPS, its speed is comparable to 80486DX 66MHz (As reported by Norton sysinfo).
• Floppy disk drive, Harddisk, and CDROM
• 8bit Sound blaster 2.0
• VGA / SVGA Cirrus5430
• Emulated Serial Mouse
• Emulated Joystick
• PC compatible keyboard
• Larger configurable keypad for gaming control
• Support external bluetooth keyboardNOTE:

Unlike DOSBox, Aemula doesn't emulate DOS directly. Instead, it comes with a Freedos boot disk. You can install MSDOS and Windows 3.1 on it. Visit http://www.aemula.net/guide.html for more help information.

This emulator is written in ARM assembler language, so it's incompatible with "Intel Inside" devices, at least for now.

I've loved this app since it was iDos, (and then Aemula), on my jailbroken iPad 2. No longer hamstrung by Apple's garbage, this app is great on my Tegra K1 MiPad. Aemula is serious nostalgia; as in it gives you a 486DX experience. It doesn't just emulate games/software. This is for people who remembered long nights clicking away on your PC trying desperately to get 7th Guest drivers to work...Seriously GOOD TIMES!

Great little emulator! DOS, Windows 3.11 and Windows 98/98se running nicely on my Samsung Galaxy S5. Also runs DOS Doom at full speed without any problems. My thanks to the developer for all of the hard work put into developing this emulator.

Sorry, don't get it. Far from giving me a DOS screen, it gives blank black one, and asks for a boot disc. Am I missing something ? - if so please tell ! +Wayne Rayner - I'll second that !!

Edited on the 19th August: there were two new versions of AEMULA during the last few days and finally HD resolution is supported. :-) I am adding one more star. I hope that it is not exception, but new trend. We need AEMULA - it is only reasonably well working emulator not based on DOSBOX. And the competition is a good thing, also AEMULA is a more universal PC emulator than DOSBOX.

I wish a larger useable output screen

This product has promise, but past an initial email reply the designer is too lazy to support it. Unlike DOS Box Turbo, which makes very clear where to put game files so they can be accessed from the DOS prompt, this is not user friendly. He has offered some cursory instructions on his website along with so-so tools, but again no follow-through. Be prepared to spend hours figuring out how to use this yourself. I got this because if offers the promise of installing a full version of DOS 6.22. AnDosBox or DOSBox Turbo only create a shell, which is good but not perfect and some of my games won't work there. It's frustrating when you pay for a half-done product with lame support.

This app is a good emulator, but when I am running the Windows 3.11 bootable if you tap the screen too much, it just stops on a empty screen. I am going to install the new version and see if it changes anything.

great emulator but a network access is missing and there is no possibility to share files between android and the dos/windows application. without file sharing it has little use for me and the developpers have not release a new version for 18 months.
