Aera is wonderful... but the app never works and it seems to be getting worse. I have (4) units and the Bluetooth comes in handy for the office unit, unfortunately it no longer works. The app won't open or just freezes now. You can't track the % left in the cartridge At times you can shop but can't view your own diffuser status, doesn't stay logged in and most recently my diffusers fell off and needed to be reinstalled. I truly hope these reviews are used as a guide for change & improvement!!😊
Worst app ever. I've had my aera for about 2 years and the app has never worked. Pure junk. Can't schedule. Occasionally I can turn it up or down but then I get errors.
Mediocre. The idea is great, however, it's glitchy. It doesn't let you change the fragrance sometimes and the app setup isn't cohesive. The diffuser itself though is awesome. I currently cannot change the fragrance on my aera that's online, which is a bummer.
they have wonderful customer service. Unfortunately, the app is very buggy. No matter what I do I cannot seem to get my device connected with the app. well, sometimes it is and it registers the fragrance other times it doesn't so then when I tried to uninstall the app and then reconnect it - no go I really recommend that they look at these reviews redo the app and consider Bluetooth connection instead of wi-fi.
This is the worst app I have ever used. It wouldn't connect to the device properly, it totally ignores your schedule settings (e.g. I would set up a schedule for turning the device on with an intensity of 2 but the device ignores it and operates at intensity 6), I have to close and open the application many times before it shows my devices to control, and many other issues. I would recommend against buying the smart version of this diffuser.
Return the smart diffuser if you can. this thing worked fine for a few weeks, then I moved and that's when the trouble began. couldn't get into my account on the app. couldn't get my device to join WiFi. Couldn't link my device at all. I spent 3 days on email with tech support and still nothing is fixed. opened a new account under a different email and have reset the diffuser multiple times and it still doesn't work. Such a huge water of money.
Poorly designed. Took 10 attempts before it linked the device to wifi. Ignores any changes to schedule changes. Customer support does respond but the problem is with the technology of the app. Better off manually starting and setting device. But I purchased it for the app controlled features. So I'm disappointed and cannot recommend.
Awful app!! I want to like this machine so badly but no matter how many times I reset it per their instructions or uninstall and reinstall the app, this thing runs outside of its scheduled programming and chews through my fragrance canisters faster than I would prefer. The app also does not work 4 out of 5 times I try to open it. I am about ready to call it quits with this thing.
App doesn't work at all just like all the reviews say! Apparently the company has no intentions of doing anything about it, which is unfortunate!! You basically have to uninstall and reinstall the app every time you want to use it just to control your Aera🤷♂️
Horrible! Unable to connect. They sent me a new one saying the chip was bad. Received the new one and still won't connect. The good thing is that they are now sending me the manual one and another canister to offset the price I paid for the touch style. I love the diffuser itself, just wish the app worked.
App looks nice but three issues I see so far: (1) once signed into the app, if you click on the BLOG, it asks for you to sign in again, but then states your login credentials are incorrect even though you are using the same one. (2) When in the shopping view and looking at the scent capsules, once you open one to see more detail there is no way to go backward and it closes the app. So you have to start over. (3) the scents page need to enable sorting by STRENGTH.
Completely useless app. Fix this app or I'm returning this unit. This has to be one of the poorly executed app ever. App has completely stopped working with the unit.
Love the hardware but unfortunately the leadership in this company is clueless when it comes to software, useless app and significantly reduces the value of their hardware. Sad.
Buggy, buggy, buggy worthless app. No matter what settings I try to apply, it always sets itself back to 1 and doesn't respond to any schedules or other settings. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this app at least 10 times in the last 30 days....ugghhh 7/16 Update... Believe it or not the app has gotten worse. No way to control anything about the device. Once again I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, to no avail. Do not waste your money on this device.
Terrible app, main screen crashes after like 3 seconds, so you have to be quick! Other screens still work. I've also noticed the scheduling function does not respect my timezone (everything is in PDT). The product itself is great, unfortunately the app experience is abysmal and not worth the extra money
The app has a nice set up but doesn't pair well with the machine. I wish I would have read the app reviews prior to purchasing because I would have gotten the non smart option. The company really needs to work on this. My app says the machine is on when it isn't and vice versa. Not worth the extra $50 per machine.
The worst app ever created. Does not control aera properly. Trying to sign into app is a nightmare as it will not recognize password. Do a password reset and it allows me to choose old password. Once you sign out it then does not recognize password. As much as this machine costs you'd think they could hire some IT guys that know what they are doing.
App keeps closing!!! When I got my 1st Aera it worked fine but now the app closes after about 3 seconds. For such a pricey piece of equipment I really would expect exceptional service in all areas of the product. Please fix this app. I am giving one as a gift in a few days and hate for their 1st experience to be bad.
App closes after a few seconds, BUT you can still control your Smart Diffuser within those few seconds. Just very quickly adjust the Strength + - or turn Off / On. ;-) UPDATE: Aera Support did "a fix" to my Account after reading my Review about the App on their website. Now it works fine, no more crashing, stays ON! So, for you NEW users, contact Aera Support to report your App problems, they'll fix it in a jiffy! =)
I finally figured it out. Occasionally the app asks you to sign in,and when you try it tells you your password is incorrect. And then will not receive the reset token. After fighting, I finally realized I'm actually signed in. Just backspace and you'll see that you're actually signed in. As for working the app with Alexa, you must omit the word "to" in your commands. Say something like "Alexa, tell Aera turn on" instead of "....TO turn on." After 1½ years of fighting, I found this works.
This app worked for a while, then I changed my home wifi and now it won't connect back up. I followed the instructions on their website and reset it, but it didn't work. Now the app is useless. I hope I can still use my device without the app considering how much it cost.
inconsistent performance, I had trouble getting it to set up initially, it worked for a couple weeks and then crapped out. Schedules are not followed and now I can't even turn it off or on remotely
Constant problems connecting to device. For the price you would not expect these kind of issues. I have two and have never been able to control them with the app. Not so SMART after all.
Like the others I did have a problem with setup. The app would find my device but not connect. The company immediately shipped me a new device, however, I tried the app with the original device again today a few days after my initial attempts and it worked seamlessly. App wise not a great experience to start, but honestly worth the wait and customer service did everything right. About the aera. It is great and scent at level 2 covers my whole downstairs. The scent is fresh and natural!
***1 Star Review Edit 6.10.21*** I used the chat on the Aera website and she was very helpful (and quick) getting the diffuser set up and working with the app. I'm not sure what she did differently, than what I did when I initially set it up, but it is working perfect as of right now. I recommend all the 1 star reviewers, unhappy with the app like I was, to try the Aera chat. If it keeps working as well as it has been the last 2 days, I will be ordering at least one other diffuser.
This is the worst. Paid extra 50.00 to use with my phone. I started Setting it up then tried to sign in with my password it tells me in correct. So I reset and did it again still says incorrect. So I started over with a new email and new password. STILL said incorrect. I'm starting to believe this is a SCAM. Loved when I got it in the mail but it stopped running. I turn it off pressed back on same thing over and over. Big disappointment... Buyer BEWARE.
I would give it zero stars if I could. This is the second diffuser I have gotten with wifi and the second of two that won't connect to wifi. Should have read the reviews. Sending back today for cheaper one with no "smart?" option.
Wont connect to Aera; tried calling customer support and it was due to a happy trigger cancel button session that it somehow connected eventually. But when i changed schedules, Aera wouldnt update so I restarted it and now cant connect to app again. So worthless.
Just purchased smart aera and unable to connect to wifi. I've disabled my wifi on phone and notebook and my password is correct when reentered. Tried connecting about 20 times. Piece of junk. Save your money and buy the $50 cheaper version.
The app only works a small portion of the time, often telling me my password is wrong (it's not), it says the device is off (it's not) and will not show me the controls when I press the "on" button. Given the price of the device it's very disappointing. It's been a year and the app, though "new" is still garbage. The whole appeal of the device is that it can be scheduled and controlled remotely... Except it can't because the app only works properly about 10% of the time
