We have 2 debit cards on the same account, wish we could control the cards separately instead of shutting it off on each other when we happen to be using them at the same time. Otherwise the app is great. Notifications of charges come quicker with the latest version. It would be 5 stars if we could get notifications on my and my wife's phones instead of just one.
While I wish this app had a few more features (or better yet, was part of the main AFCU app), I value its ability to turn the cards on and off. I had some trouble with the purchasing filters in the old app version, which kept preventing me from making online purchases if any of them were active. I have not tried finding or using the filters on this new version yet.
I have installed and uninstalled this app more times then I can remember to get the notifications to work. I even called the AFCU helpline and they said they'd "fixed it", whatever that means, on their end, but it still doesn't work. I have set the notifications in front of a teller at the bank and was assured they were set correctly, but that didn't help either. I only installed it for the notifications. If it can't even do that simple task it's worthless to me.
I think card guard is fantastic! It's actually pretty nice that I can actually "turn off" my card! So if I make a purchase, and then turn my card off right after I make my purchase, and someone decides to try to defraud me, it'll simply decline the card so I don't get my money stolen! And if and when I want or need to make a purchase, I just simply turn my card back on! The best feature yet! So good job America first! 👍👍💯💯
I love being able to turn my cards on and off quick just by opening the app and touching a button not to mention the options and filters available. I wish there were more defined filters tho such as a single merchant instead of a group of merchants because that's not always the case. Other than that I love the capabilities.
I like this app for the fact that it sends me a notification that money was spent on my card. However, it is a tad inconvenient for me when I can only authorize certain purchases through the notification and not the app itself. Also, it would be nice if it could connect to the America first mobile banking app and I could deny transactions by company versus by category. If I could be contacted by the developers for both applications to directly send these improvements, that would be a nice help.
Excellent protection for your credit cards! I'm able to keep my cards turned off (unuseable) all the time, only turn them on when I'm ready to use them. Get immediate notification of the use and then turn it back off. Highly recommend this! Will save you from card theft.
It's a 5! I use this app to lock down my credit card usage. I am a victim of identity fraud and it is a constant effort to ensure someone is NOT charging something against my account without my knowledge. Previously I would have to talk to a Credit Union Agent for each occasional large transaction - now it is an easy change in this app. Thank you.
This is stupidity, to have a separate app to lock and unlock my cards. Lost my wallet today, was able to freeze my other cards but didn't even know I had to have a separate app for this. Was not able to log in due to not having the # mesmerized. Was able to log into the main app no problem due to using it a lot but unable to to freeze card because it take a separate app.
Been using several years. No problems. Easy to control interface allows card turned on or off. Alerts are given if any activity happens on that accounts card number.
Since my card was hacked and I received a new card the same settings does not work on new card as before. Wife's notifications for purchases does not work at all. And everything is set up the same as mine and I recieve notifications just fine. Called America first people they can't figure it out. Went into America first and they can't figure it out. America first even called the card office to see if they could both figure it out and had no luck. When we called they acted like we were dumb.
This app has been heaven sent in keeping our money safe. I love the spending limit, it has blocked huge online purchases that we did not authorize. Just remember to up the limit before you do purchase a big ticket item. If I had a suggestion for the app creators it would be the ability to approve or reject those large purchases from the app so you didnt have to keep adjusting the spemding limit.
Doesn't work. says I must login to mobile banking first, even when I literally get to the app from the link in the mobile banking app. Had my card info stolen, they recommended I use card guard to prevent it from happening again. I said yeah I already tried but I literally can't use it.
Great app. It has saved me over $1K. It notifies me of every charge made to my account. I was wrongfully charge ~$1K by AirBnB. I saw the charge within minutes of it happening and was able to stop the card and dispute the charge. This app is a great asset to my financial tool box.
Quit working again. Also for a fam member. Afcu doesn't respond. Scary. It quit working a few days ago. No information came from afcu. They havent responded to my email. For an app that provides security, this is a bit frustrating. It quit on another person i know as well
I used to really like the notifications. They helped me stop card fraud on 2 different occasions. The app no longer works however with the new android update. The app hasn't been updated since 2017 and no longer sends notifications to my phone. Useless.
app has a mind of its own, prevented me from using atms, and even declined when trying to get cash back from a store. I tried removing all rules and eventually had to remove the app completely for it to stop making things decline. I wouldn't recommend it, and if you have this app, be very careful about messing with the card settings and rules, because you will start having trouble using your card anywhere at all.
Seriously. did you guys abandon this app? it needs a serious update. nothing works except the on and off switch. no notifications no remember me function. main device does nothing. recent transactions are delayed and seem to rarely ever update. i have pending charges from over a month ago that have actually been cleared and long gone. this app used to be great. now it seems to be a waste of space on my device.
App hasn't worked since Android Pie got pushed out...Despite the credit union taking the service down for a day and pushing out a new version. Have uninstalled / reinstalled and rebooted. Emailed "support" and they replied back without even reading my email with a canned response telling me to do the stuff I already did and told them I had done. Useless.
Used to be a 5 star. Last 4 days i cant log into the app. Called AFCU and all they did was turn my card on because i need to use it. I uninstalled the app a few times and reinstalled and nothing. Still get a "try again later" message. Ive had my card comprimised three times. I felt safer with card gaurd. If they cant fixed my issue, i rather go to a different bank.
Its good but I feel like it only works if you turn your cards off, some fraud still got on my account with the specific settings I had. I think the app should have a notification that says was this you shows price and merchant and then an option of yes or no to let the transaction go through or not go through.
3/27/19: After a long day of waiting for the update, I can finally use my card. The support team was helpful and kept me up to date on the issue. The update gave it a nice simple look and felt easy to use. Nothing changed the usage but I really like the new look. I docked it 1 star because of the issue but other than that I am satisfied.
It protects the card from every unauthorized purchase, except for those from Microsoft. If Microsoft get a hold of your card information, they have the ability to drain your account regardless if the card is on, and regardless of the settings to limit transaction type. The transaction type controls also are not very accurate. When I turned off all epurchases, I was unable to use my card, in person, anywhere.
