AFIS
The Advanced Fire Monitoring System (AFIS) is a satellite-based fire information tool (afis.co.za) that provides near real-time fire information to users across the globe. The AFIS app integrates the various AFIS services in a fully-featured, easy-to-use mobile application.
Main features:
• Today's fire danger index displayed on a map for locations you define, including your current location.
• Fire danger forecasts based on daily numerical weather forecast inputs (e.g. wind speed, air temperature, relative humidity) and fire statistics for your locations, or wherever you drop a pin on the map.
• Satellite-detected real-time active fires displayed around your defined locations.
• Current vegetation “curing” or dryness relative to 14 years of satellite-derived vegetation greenness data.
• Detailed information about detected fires (e.g. intensity and time of detection).
• Fire history showing a location's fire events in the last 14 years in relation to historical vegetation curing using graphs, as well as statistics such as fire count, frequency and time since last burn.
• A fire danger calculator which allows anyone with access to weather information to calculate their own fire danger ratings based on their local measurements.
• Share observations of fire with the community by uploading geotagged photos to the AFIS Web Viewer. (Photos are available after being moderated.)
• A global map of fire counts for the last 14 years.
AFIS now provides global fire information, but if any data seems to be missing, please let us know at [email protected]. Please note that land cover is only available for the United States and South Africa.

There is a error fetching data from server constantly. Great app but currently not working. Any solution for this area?
There is no explanation of what the various icons mean. A glossary would be great
I am in fire service and app don't work on my Huawei P20 lite and it's our Fire season. Can you please see to it. 🙏🔥
App not working.... Showing no fires anywhere when I know I'm surrounded by them!

Use to work but not anymore.
Running a Samsung galaxy s7: cannot see the active fires in my area and often the search function freezes the app.i will change this to 5 stars if this can be rectified as this is one of the most amazing fire detecting apps out there.
does not work on my Huawei 8 Lite. Fire all round from Robinson pass CBS, Herbertsdale all along the Langeberge to Garcia pass. 😠
The last few days didn't want to refresh, uninstalled it and reinstall . But now gives a error that it crashed and sending it to developer.
Has potential but consistently has error connecting to server so no data. Needs to be fixed and I would change rating to 5.
It worked once then just says error getting data from server.
Very useful but lets you down when you need it most. Eighty persent of time report "Error fetching data from server". Year later, still same problem with server availability.

Not working on S8
this is a very handy app (when it works) as we live in an area prone to fires. problem is, half the time, the fire overlay does not load.
