I LOVED this game on Xbox Live and sad for others when it was removed. I was pretty happy with the idea to be able to play it on my phone on the go until I tried to control it. I hate touch controls and many of us who will actually buy and play these classics will invest in a control pad. I did, plus that opens the game up to the Nvidia Shield user-base. Please bring back the Xbox 360 control scheme or give us the option to re-map our button controls. The partial controller support / tilt controls are bad. The gameplay is just too fast for tilt controls. I have a Gamsir G4s controller which is basically an Xbox 360 controller. Bringing back those Xbox 360 controls will do so much to make this game worthy of the time and effort put into the original. It is a shame the controls are terrible because it looks and plays great on my Galaxy S9 plus.

Controller support is a huge plus. Unfortunately, massive graphical glitches in the form of full-screen orange textures appear frequently, seems to be triggered when firing turret more than anything else. Also, bit of a liberty that it links to the old app that was last updated years ago with no full-screen or controller support when you select that you've paid already.

Not only does the bug that keeps cutscenes from playing after Stage 13 (which prevents the game from registering as completed and advancing to Stage 14) not been fixed, but despite paying for the ad-free version, I am STILL getting ads, and there is no option to restore my purchase to get rid of them. Huge disappointment, since this game is a big favorite of mine, and the mobile version is the only one I have access to.

took me a minute to figure out the joystick was invisible instead of see thru. cool game and concept but way too many ads. like waaaaay too many ads. I updated today and go from one every once in a while to every possible second you can squeeze one in you did. I can't even begin to get immersed. plus I'm broke and homeless so all these ads just make me feel horrible. thanks for that. one day I'll have some spare cash and I can buy the regular version....if I remember by then. until then uninstall

Banner ads block menu buttons and don't shrink down until you open them and watch a video. Once you do you can hit 'play' which seems like accidental bad placement since they are sort of half covered, once you load in to a level there will be an ad, then a cutscene of your plane flying out, then another ad, followed by two more ads at the completion of a level for a total of 5 ads to play a single level that lasts only 1-2 minutes. The tutorial doesn't actually show controls at all

Not only you have bad ad placement management, but you did not put in the description that I can't go offline and have to STAY connected to the interwebs to just play the bloody game. Just so you can keep playing ads every minute. Very shameful of you to do that. But when it comes to cutting down ads or staying connected, that'll just fall on deaf ears, eh? As long as whales exist, you won't change it at all.

I just purchased it. Great game but there are some graphical problems. I am using a Xiaomi Redmi 2. Framerate is smooth but the explosions/target hits dont display correctly. Maybe a 2d graphics problem? Also the landscape below the plane sometimes doesn't display correctly. Please fix these graphical errors! Everything else seems to work fine though.

Purchased it the last time it was on Play Store, it's still the great game it was. Graphics are top notch, sound is loud and clear. The controls, you just have to get used to them, but once you do, you'll be barrel rolling with the best of them. Jet Set Radio next please, or some Saturn or Dreamcast games!

I wanted to give this game a chance but the ads are extremely obnoxious. after a few seconds of gameplay it even gives adds loading into the second zone. Unless you intend on buying this game is just an advertisement sim. I've used a lot of ad enabled apps before but never have I dealt with this level of insanity.

Great classic arcade game, fast and no time to blink. The graphics are great and is a real must for anybody who grew up with the originals. Only down side is the controls at a little fiddly alough you do get used to them. I just wish sega would just make these games d-pad compatible and chromecast compatible so they can be played good they were originally intended, I would even pay for the game for that privilege.

*UPDATED* The touch control problem is that the game can't register simultaneous touches. Pressing fire and initiating steering breaks the controls and makes the plane lose control. Theoretically if you never pick up your left thumb this is manageable but because neutral inputs are easiest by just removing your finger this is a problem. It can presumably be solved with a joystick that sticks on your screen but a bug fix would be way better. *paid version was given ads again reduced to 1 star*

Controls are ok but very complicated to use, and wow, I fogort how fast pace this game was. Anyway what ruined the experience was the fact that every time I beat a stage is that ads always pop up. Sure other sega app games does this but they take some time to do so unlike this which is the stagesfinnish so fast. So yeah It needs a better experience. Plus there's some bugs.

Way too many ads, for every ~1 minute stage, you get a 30 second ad. You get a 30 second ad every time you visit the options to change controls. Also the controls are bad, on screen joystick is sometimes not responsive, accelerometer controls move you randomly, even after calibrating it in options.

Great arcade game with somewhat okay controls on small devices. Unfortunately, Sega abandoned it as you have to be online to play it with constant ads in your face. The "remove ads" and "restore purchase" functions are also no longer available.

Version is outdated. Trying to play in 2021 on my new phone and the ad free links and restore purchase options are broken. The ads are atrocious. I payed for the ad free version years ago, guess that's gone forever!

The game works well! Great game for fans of the After Burner series! The only problem I have with it is that there are quite a few ads. I feel like this could be easily fixed if there were an ad after every two levels instead of after every single level. Other than that, it's an awesome game! I will be playing a lot in the future!

I remember the day of being 7 and going to funtasia (irish water park but indoors, and like a whole games section) and walking towards the waterpark section, on my left was loads of the basketball games and to my right was a 3D rollercoaster, and right in front of me was the arcade version of afterburner, the theme blasting, the moving seat shifting as I flipped past enemies, jets screaming, this game revived the whole feeling of it to me and I'm glad I found it, just get rid of the damn ads.

Very good conversion it looks and runs great on my Lenovo tablet. The only problem is the speed control doesn't work with a Bluetooth controller which is really annoying as I have the proper Sega controller for the classic games so I would expect it to work properly!

Pha. Sep 28, 2019

A fun game, but too many commercials. Also, I would've liked to see different endings for the F-15 and X-47, since neither are carrier-borne and the latter is a drone. The reason I point this out is because the cutscene shows a pilot walking away from the drone in the end cutscene.

Kie. P. Apr 7, 2019

A good port of the original game. What could be better is the amount of adverts being toned down. The amount I'm getting right now is atrocious and really breaks the flow of gameplay. I suggest that there souldn't be any adverts during gameplay. Other than that, the game is ok.

Che. F. Dec 1, 2019

Just another potentially good game ruined by too many ads. App is completely packed with them. This game really doesn't work all that well on a phone.. Definitely not worth spending $2 for the ad free version. Played 5 levels, sat through 10 ads, uninstalled. Screw you, Sega.

Ton. R. Apr 30, 2020

The adverts in the free version are insanely frequent, including mid gameplay. For that reason I will not buy. The game itself is very good fun, super fast action, if you have patience with the ads.

Noe. M. May 21, 2019

Everything is perfect except for deliberate exclusion of Gamepad control. Screen and accelerometer control is an abomination to this game, and more like a developers academic excercise to tease. If you add Nvidia shield TV and gamepad support, this game will easily earn 5 stars.

Ant. R. Apr 4, 2019

I'm happy SEGA made an effort to bring back After Burner Climax but mobile wasn't the right option. Ads are WAY too frequent, touch joystick can be finiky, and overall not worth it. Just wait for a console port if it ever happens.

ZW. S. Aug 19, 2019

fun but difficult and too many ads that disrupt your gameplay. movement is too sensitive, yet without that sensitivity the plane cannot be controlled quickly, bottom line is it fares better in the arcade, not on a mobile device. I dont like that the game cannot be played without internet connectivity though. What if we cannot access any data?
