Agave ISY Controller
- ISY app for mobile home automation of Insteon® and Z-Wave® devices.
Agave Home Automation allows for seamless, secure and customizable remote access to your Universal Devices ISY Controller from your Android® smartphone and tablet.
Many Insteon® and Z-Wave® devices can be controlled through ISY using Agave. If you find one that isn’t supported, contact the developer (we’ll need a node dump of the device from an ISY).
Agave can control your Elk® M1 Home Security system through your ISY. Arm and disarm in all Elk modes including status of and control of bypass of all of your Elk zones.
You can use all features of Agave without any limitations free for 30 days. After trial, there are no additional downloads required; simply purchase the features that you would like to continue to use. Trials are tracked using account logged in on your device, which requires the Android “Contacts” permission. We do not save any of your account information (we use a one-way hash to log your email address). We do not access any other contact information on your device. Access to your contact information is not used for any other purpose and it can be disabled entirely if you decide to purchase Agave.
Agave is actively developed. This means new devices are added quickly (please contact the developer in the event you have an unrecognized device) and features are added regularly. We discuss new features on the UDI Forum > Agave subforum.
Agave is secure. Your ISY credentials are encrypted on your device and you can optionally configure a PIN (per Agave profile) so that anyone using your mobile device won’t have access to use Agave. Connections to your ISY can be encrypted using SSL.
Agave is customizable. You can easily add favorite devices to a compact home screen view. Want more than one home screen? You can add additional profiles to enable more home screens. Have more than one ISY? You can configure connections to more than one ISY. Don’t know what the cryptic device names are on your ISY? Device names, control/action buttons, and device status can be customized.
Agave works with your favorite Insteon devices (requires an Insteon-compatible ISY). Whether you want to control an Insteon Thermostat, LED light bulb, On/Off Switch Relay, Dimmer switch, IO Linc Sensor/Relay, Triggerlinc Open/Close sensor, Motion sensor (2420 verified), smoke sensor, or an EZFlora/lawn sprinkler, Agave works for you. As new Insteon devices are released, we work to add them quickly to Agave.
Agave works with several Z-Wave devices (requires a Z-Wave compatible ISY). Door locks(Schlage, Kwikset and Yale verified) , thermostats, on/off and dimmable switches, MIMOLite sensors, and Aeon Multisensors can be controlled through Agave. If you have a Z-Wave device that isn’t already added to Agave, we’ll work with you to get it added quickly (please contact the developer!).
ConnectivityAgave can connect to your ISY using any combination of the following methods in the order you define:1. Direct Connection via private home network (local) connection (usually the “primary” connection)2. Direct Connection via external network/cellular data connection (may require port forwarding on router) (often the “secondary” connection)3. UDI Portal (Requires subscription through UDI)

In my opinion, this is excellent. I recently upgraded phones and when Mobilinc didn't move to the new phone, I decided to give Agave a try. Glad I did. I also added it to my wife's phone for ISY access. She sees it's an upgrade from what we had. The UI is well thought out. From a support perspective, I submitted one ask and got a reply in less than 30 minutes. I realized the issue was mine, soon after I sent it, but got a reply and all is great.
this app functions very well so functionally I have no complaints however, the user interface is reminiscing of a very old style app and the manufacturer seems to care very little about the interface. it is evident because the icons are extremely Limited, there is no way to import pictures which is almost mandatory in today's more modern apps and there is no way to customize anything on the interface. I am hoping that will change soon
Great app. After a very short time I was fully functional with my ISY. This App gets 5 stars because it does exactly what was promised without any hassels or crashing! Works locally, works remotely, just works. I like the popup "Got it" messages. Annoying at first, but then once I "got it" they went away. I also especially like the fact that no feature is included or promised until it works. For example, camera support is not included yet. A competitor claims camera support, but it is horrible and crashes! The price is right.
Like the non-subscription licence. Works well with ISY controller. Software seems stable. Although current display interface is okay, a single line per device alternative would be nice. Been using for nearly a year and prefer Agave to MobiLinc (which I used for a few years). Would be nice if sharing with family members and their devices was less complicated (like MobiLinc) but the current structure is a small price to pay. Overall, great app for controlling home automation while at home or across the country.
Over the years, I used various other ISY / Insteon apps (now abandon-ware), but I love Agave because: -it's actively being developed, by a guy who is active in the ISY forums and takes user-suggestions and requests into consideration -it's responsive. The app "feels" snappy, even when I query and control my ISY stuff remotely -it's customizable. The Home screen can contain only a subset of all my devices (or scenes), which I wish to control, and these desired devices can be drag-and-drop re-ordered as I wish. If I want to access devices which don't appear on the Home screen, then I can - all devices are listed through the menus. -it's keeping pace with ISY development, so even Beta ISY firmware works beautifully with Agave.
Worked fine until my ISP changed my router. I cannot change my secondary ip address. Mobilinc works just fine with the new address, but Agave won't accept the new ip, and just gives the error " cannot verify" and defaults to the old ip that was working before on the old router. I tried resetting all data to start over, but nothing happens. Only works on wifi. Disappointed.
Does what it says.. mostly. One pair of dual-control lights (stair lights controlled by switches at bottom and top of stairs) has stopped responding to this app, although they still respond to my ISY controller. But 7 other devices work fine.
Seems buggy. I have to restart my phone from time to time for the app to communicate with the Isy. Also, the status of the sensors change for no reason. Having issues that I did not have with the Insteon app. However, to be fair the problem might be related to the Isy? Previously, I was using the Insteon hub.
This app is a great balance between power and usability. The ISY hubs are ok for hard-core techies, but don't offer a user-friendly interface. Agave fills the gap with an easy-to-use native app, yet also manages to expose many ISY features.
Installed Agave app on my phone works well so I installed it on my wife's phone on my wife's phone it would not get past the privacy screen. Contacted support and they ask for a screen shot of from her phone showing the version on the OS. Sent it to them. Then they said they need a screen shot of her phone when their app hung up. Haven't been able to get her phone from her so we go into month two of the problem.
Excellent. Thank you creators of Agave for making my life easier and creating a straightforward app. Mobilinc lost me as a customers of 5 plus years with their new app that is ripoff. Agave is simple, it's free and it works and links to my.isy.io seamlessly. Great job guys super happy I found this app.
Very good app after Mobilinc. But it would be nice to have some customization on the UI, design is a bit outdated.
Overall, Agave has worked fairly well, but not 100%. Sometimes the controller doesn't work when X10 remotes do work.
Amazing, you can walk around around and add insteon devices in each room using your phone. I bet all the installers use this app. It is just amazing!
So far I'm happy with Agave. A onetime payment is better than a subscription, and it's easier to use. Still testing the remote connections
Don't expect any support if you purchase Agave. After using for over two years changed phones and lost all access. Four emails to tech support yielded slow and essentially nonsense responses. Mike Murtagh
Very responsive and clean interface! Night and day difference from the insteon app.
No widgets - there are cheaper options that have widgets. Add a good set of widgets and I'll re-subscribe.
Never respond to emails. I have devices that don't display properly. They did not respond to any of my emails nor the AGAVE forum on the universal devices forum.
One of the best ISY controllers out there, which isn't saying nothing! Why are all so ugly and hard to use? I just stick with Alexa or Google Home (also ugly, but free)
Love it when it works, if it stops I have to uninstall from phone and then reinstall... annoying!

Remote connection to my Universal Devices automation. Flawless!!
The lighting in my home is mostly all Insteon devices and the devices work well as a standalone and with my ISY but I was never happy with the options to control it all from my phone until I discovered this app. Is it perfect? No. But the developer is responsive to fixing bugs and issues as they arise and that is huge. Good purchase and would do it again. Would love to see a new GUI and more options to add graphics to each switch. Would be nice to see more devices on the screen at once too.
