The original texting. The original social media. The original app. Gone but not forgotten.
I hope they bring this app back out an i hope they let everyone know by there linked accounts they sign up with aim with
Find it odd that this app is still listed... sigh...
Lifelong friends made because of you, AIM. Rest in Program Heaven.
My friend snarterchild is ALWAYS online and taking about women.
Seems always ton have a server issue. You have to unistalled and reinstall the sound works and cell but stops working on tablet ALL the time so you miss a lot of messages if your not staring at it 24/7 when you express an issue like now your get the same auto generated response. It's still better than IM+ but at least their sound works on both cell and tablet. You are limited with choice if your old school still having friends on aol, it was a number one like MySpace many moons ago but everything gets replaced. Hoping they really do an upgrade because it's still a clean app in respect to no glitz and glam nice and straight forward that IS what I do like. If your friends are still on AOL again your limited if not I'd go elsewhere.
Got the news. AIM will be no more after 12/2017. I have had a good long run with it. Sad to see it go but I am guessing it's now obsolete, with FB and the rest of the newer messagers in place. So long old friend.
I've used AIM for years and years in various forms. The issue I have with it at the moment is the fact that, with Lollipop, it's an all-or-nothing issue with notifications. I don't need a notification that it's running in my lock screen. I DO want a notification if I got a message, however. Can this be update/fixed/changed? I only have the choice to turn all notifications off, or all on. Like I said, I don't need to know it's running with a message in my lock screen. Thanks!
I guess it's cause I was 10 in 1996 and my generation invented social media .... Old habits die hard. DONT TAKE MY AIM FROM ME. This will be missed. Not the best but a good go to. Should have intergenerated current features to stay up with current social media messaging platforms.
I've always refused rating this app, but now I'm just fed up. When it wasn't signing me out EVERY TIME I sent a message and then backed out to go do something else, it was great. I literally cannot do ANYTHING ELSE without it kicking me off now. I don't get notifications sometimes, either. Whatever update did this really needs to be undone. It has nothing to do with my service (I think). I'm always connected to Wi-Fi unless out of the house, and it does it on both Wi-Fi and mobile data. If I weren't a roleplayer, I would have gotten rid of this already.
Make aim universal to seeing a users photo/avatar if they are using a universal im app. They are using an avatar but they show up as a gray icon. If you can make this app universal to other aim users that are using a different platform, Id say your on top.
The app won't work if I'm connected to wifi. It only works on mobile data, which is very inconvenient. I can't use this app if it isn't going to connect to wifi. I'm also not recieving messages and it takes about two minutes for a single message to send. Please fix this.
Iv used aim for years.its my go to instant messenger. I love it. Rarely any issues, amd what issues i do get, are fixed quickly
It works as any mobile messaging app does, seems to disconnect automatically if left on for a while in the background, but otherwise works about the same as the desktop program
Other than the occasional log-in issue, now the app is a perfect instant messenger! My only request is that somehow the text limit could be lengthened, but you can type full paragraphs and carry in-depth conversations better than most messenger apps on the market!
I am old and love aim. I'll be sad when it's gone since it was a big part of my youth.
Since I've been using Aim, it has been a constant and now that it will no longer exist, I am going to truly miss it. In a odd way it was a life line for me. Always there, old reliable. Thank you for all the wonderful years!! 💋💜
It won't let me confirm my account and when I try for help the page doesn't exist.
Crashes a lot and has constant connectivity issues. Fails to send/receive messages and needs to be force stopped almost daily.
My 5 stars is for the memories. I wish AOL would upgrade the old versions to keep them looking like they did in the early 2000s. It was such a great chat platform that could continue to be great without so many changes. AIM will always have a special place in my heart!
My wife and I have used AIM for years. No confusing bells & whistles. Just a great, simple message app.
I would give it 5 stars if it had dice capability. I tried dice and it was very hit and miss (pardon the pun) as to whether it worked at all, and when it did it posted the rolls many minutes later, and dice type option by code would make this my chat of choice!
I am sad that aim will be discontinued. I don't understand why. However aol is not really going to be the same as we all know it.
I do not know many who currently use AIM. I used to use the desktop version back in the late 90s and enjoyed it at the time. A shame to see it go. Some of the most interesting people I met online was via AOL UK.
This app was never the greatest representation of AIM but it was the last piece of nostalgia bringing AOL messenger to Android. And even though I only had like 1 friend who actually still used it, sadly its the end of an error. Goodbye AIM.
Rest in peace AIM. I still remember my login info and haven't logged in since 2007 😅 made a lot of life long friends with your help!! ❤️
