Aircraft horizon is the most advanced artificial horizon on the marketplace.
It fuses data from your devices accelerometer, gyro and magnetometer sensors to provide you with accurate pitch and roll information depicted as a typical aircraft artificial horizon.

This is the free version of the app. It is ad supported and has a two minute time limit. Upgrading to the paid version removes both of these limitations.
Usage:Aircraft Horizon is very simple to use. Pitch and roll is dynamically shown when you move your device. Using the menu, you can pitch level based upon your installation, switch between portrait and landscape modes and toggle debug data on and off.

This artificial horizons has pretty good performance. Very low drift rate, which means it uses advanced algorithms (kalman filter, I presume?)
Works like it should. Would be pretty cool if it worked for over 2 minutes though.

Pretty accurate in Moto G6
Works perfect on the ground for demonstration purposes or early training. Not in the air, because if you are in a 2G turn for example, it will think the direction of the G force is down. This is no fault of of the software, and people who complain are idiots. Obviously your phone doesn't have a gyroscope spinning inside it like a real attitude indicator.
This App has the potential to be great but I can't find out without purchasing the full version. It only runs for a very short time before prompting for the upgrade. This App is neither a trial version nor free. Useless in it's present state.
I have an experimental airplane that needed an Artificial Horizon. I found this and upgraded the app and no I haven't flown with it it appears to me exactly or maybe even better then a gyro Horizon you would spend $350 for. I plan to try it out in a few days but it looks like it will perform well. Note..10-28-17 Appears to be no way to calibrate it on my ZTE696 phone. My 3 year old Samsung tablet allows me to. Any ideas?
Cannot properly evaluate in the two minutes allowed. But in those two minutes driving at 45 mph around a big roundabout this app does not operate as it should in an aircraft. Does not work. Not fit for purpose. Nexus 7 Android 4.2
I have only a single vacuum pump in my plane, so if it fails when in IFR, I would be SOL, and I don't have $3500 for an electric backup AI. I tested this while flying and its spot on with my Commando II phone! A perfect backup solution with a good price.
This may sound weird. But I think the app reacts to paranormal phenomena. I am not joking. inaparticular spot, when I felt uneasy andadif something was there the display moved violently. But this did not occur other times in the same spot. I did not check with another device though.
Saw in a sailing magazine a waterproof ipad case! Om my. So these are the new avionics huh? Theres no purpose, maybe make it a widget or live screensaver? Thatd be even cooler in my jeep. Cool toy and much more accurate then the stupid compasses. Perfect and flawless, almost real it seems
It does not show attitude, in stead it shows acceleration. When making a turn in my aeroplane it shows me as upright while banking at a steap angle.
Nice on the ground but useless in flight because gravity force vector always points to the bottom of the aircraft.
It doesn't detect tilts and thinks coordinated turn as a horizontal flight, and acceleration as a pitch up.
Very responsive and accurate. But has no offset function for when the tablet is mounted at an angle. That's a MUST HAVE for me.
This is a total joke, or absolute horsechit. The author has obviously zero understanding of physics. Using an accelerometer for attitude reference is the dumbest idea ever. Even kids know it is wrong. This is how people die. Deleted.
What a waste of time does not work in the air with Galaxy S7 which has every sensor known . MAKES SENSOR WORKS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE
This artificial horizon does not work in an aircraft and is only practical for use in 2 dimensional space. ie on the ground
Great for starting ground school training or just understanding the AI in fsx.
Fun to play with. Do not try rely on it it in a plane. It will stay level in turns as it is not gyro operated

Very smooth on ground as a level. Does not work at all in the air in the jet I fly.

Requires you to keep restarting the app to keep using it or upgrade.
(Edited to answer the answer) Thanks but I don't need a full flight deck. What I need is a gyro horizon app that is easy to use while flying (reset etc), and if it works on a split screen, so much better. Updates are not needed as long as it works, but please don't dump it.
