AirMessage

My friends stopped complaining to me about being green(or was it blue), so major plus, but the program is pretty inconsistent. I cannot send pictures and GIFs; and, every once in a while I cannot see pictures sent to me in the message area and I have to save them to my phone then open it up outside the app. I am assuming that reactions to messages is a hard restriction to overcome because that is not a feature, but wish it was.

Works perfectly once you set it up. The only issue I have at times is that I have it running on a computer I don't use daily and I do have some connection issues. I have the computer on never sleep however if I go 4 or 5 days without using the computer I wind up with connection issues on the application. I've used this app for many years and upgrades it's works better now then ever.

Good Idea, But Not Good Enough! Servers need alot of work. Constantly disconnects or won't send messages when I have full signal and gig internet for Mac. Totally at random, just frustrating when I just want to send a text. Not worth the annoience just to have imessage.

I daily drive an iphone but enjoy trying new android phones sometimes and Ive used this program for years to forward my iMessage to whatever android I'm using, and the experience just gets better and better. Easy to set up, super reliable and overall just amazing.

Love it! I'm the rare type of person that uses an iPhone and an Android Tablet. Also have both Macs and Windows PCs. This app is perfect to allow me to stay connected no matter what device I'm on. I love it.

Super easy install. Took 5 minutes and was working. Did need to reboot Mac once. I opened the port on firewall as per excellent instructions to ensure I get messages when not on home network. I used a 2016 MacBook Pro that was collecting dust. So happy to now get imessages on my Samsung Flip 3. Thank you developers!

It's aight. I really like being able to use this app to message all my friends and family on iMessage with my Android phone. One thing that is keeping this app service from being a 5 star experience, is not being able to react to messages, YET I am able to receive the reactions from my messages.. ? What's up with that? Hahaha. Still love this tho!

Most of the low reviews are just people who are complaining how annoying it is to set up. But that's 100% apples fault and not the dev's. C'mon ppl, this app is freaking awesome, stop giving bad reviews cause you're too lazy to set it up right. I've been using this with my actual number with no problems for years

Amazing app. I started with wemessage, but this one is a million times better. It delivers all messages, has a sync option, and sends messages consistently. UPDATE: The customer service on this app is incredible! If i could rate this app higher I would. I would recommend it to anyone! UPDATE: They added fallback ip so if your router won't route you correctly while you're on the home network, you can put two in. Great addition!

This app is amazing. Lets you send and receive iMessages and send and receive media. I wish there was typing feedback and maybe a sticker pack or two but this is obviously in development and so far its awesome! The server is reliable, messages send and receive smoothly, it's great! To everyone complaining that they need a Mac... Please stop. That isn't the app or the app developers fault. You literally need an Apple device for iMessages, and this is as close to a workaround as is possible.

I prefer Android, but am required to carry a work-issued iPhone. While I can get my email on my Android phone as well as forward my calls, my dispatch pages were locked to my iPhone due to being unable to auto forward them. This setup is the solution to my problem! Both SMS and iMessage forwards equally well and very quickly. Running the server on a used Mac Mini 2010 I picked up on eBay solely for this purpose.

This app works excellently. The interface looks great and it does a good job of re-creating the iMessage interface on Android. Yes, you need a Mac but that's the case with any iMessage workaround on Android. I had used another app in the past (weMessage) and AirMessage is far superior in every way. Better interface, less bugs, loads all messages and content without issue, installation on the computer is easy, etc. Big thanks to the developer for making an amazing app!

I recently made the switch back to the dark side, and was pleasantly surprised to know that this app existed. The app is super clean! I really wish it had SMS functionality too so I could just use it as my default messaging app, but maybe in a future update. Doesn't take away from how well it works now. Was pretty easy to setup, and its always great to now have iMessage functionality wherever you go ☺️

Works fairly well for the most part, standard messages send without a problem, pictures are usually fine, videos however are a struggle for me even if I'm on a 5ghz connection on the same router as the Mac that's on a wired ethernet connection, just fail to send sometimes and usually get quite compressed. I also can't watch videos I recieve directly from the app I have to save them to my phone.

So far it is really good for keeping up with text messages. I have had just a few issues. With the Read Receipts, even tho I have this selected, people are telling me they cant see when i have viewed the message. Syncing past messages seems to give me and error or just clear out all of my messages. Sending and receiving images doesn't seem to work 9/10. I know that seems like a lot of negative however for just messages I am just surprised at how well the core function works. I hope the other things will be fixed over time. Also, if you have any option to receive donations please make that known. I think you would get a lot of support. I know I would help the cause.

Works pretty good for what it is, but the app does have its shortcomings. Pros - Messaging is almost instant (I recommend the Java startup), group chats work great, if your Mac is on High Sierra or up you can see tapback reactions, and photos, videos, and voice messages send okay. Almost 5/5 Cons - Can't send tapback or see subject lines, port forwarding isn't always available or working (but luckily there are workarounds on the subreddit), and not everyone can have a separate Mac running 24/7.

Works fine for most messages. I can almost never get pictures or videos to send however. Sometimes it will even try to send an old picture that failed to send when you select a new one from the gallery. If these issues were fixed I think I could switch off of ios fulltime for sure though, so its a great app in general

Huge fan of this app! Still playing with setting up a dedicated server. To all those who are giving a poor rating to this app, it is not possible to make a stand-alone app for imessage without Apple making it themselves and thats not going to happen. This work around, while still in beta, is a great alternative. Setting up a cheap server on macOS is really easy. Thank you for this app!

It works exactly as described. You do need to make sure you update your energy preferences to keep your mac from turning off. Requests - Integrated SMS support. - Change the sending message sound to mimic iMessage. - See when the contact is typing. - Change the "New Message" workflow. The next arrow in the upper right is unintuitive and hard to reach on large devices. - Open the contact when the profile pic is clicked -Swipe to Archive / Delete Great work!!

It works great, no issues whatsoever. There's no character limit like on SMS and you can send videos that DON'T look so blurry like on the default Android messenger app. 5/5 experience. ALSO: About the whole "Mac computer required" I bought a used one on OfferUp for $80 and it even worked out with handling online classes this year. I have all my videos/pictures, and music saved on an SD card and iPhones don't support expandable storage so I won't be going back to iPhones any time soon

Edit: I just want to thank the devs for everything they do to maintain this app (and now website!!!). It seems to get better & more stable every year. it's made my life so much easier. Original Review 2019: Switching over to Android has been great in every other regard except for texting, which has been made difficult by my friends' persistence on only using imessage and their hate towards green bubbles. This app has allowed me back into that world and so far it has worked almost flawlessly.

Awesome. The "holy grail" of messaging is long overdue. App is basic, but FAST & STABLE (no fails since install), and still in "beta." Server setup is easier than you think🙂. Instructions & videos are great. Repurposed an old (2008) macbook w/Yosemite. Impressive features! I am reticent to ask for more because I'm afraid of performance hit. 😄 Wishlist item: ability to select alternate notification sounds. THANK YOU. (Seems most negative reviews are because of user errors :( Oh well…) Try it!

This app works so well I love this app. Once you set it up right, it works great. I just wish a few things were added. First, I wish it has an integrated SMS client so it would be just like messages on iOS. I also wish it has the typing bubbles, but this might be too hard to integrate. I also wish it worked with the Samsung keyboard stickers. Some affects with the fireworks don't work. Theres a glitch with contacts on the server app where your message will be sent to the bottom most email.

Worked amazing for years and now with the new macOS Monterey update it no longer can send images or videos. It basically hangs in the messages app on the Mac. It is sending the message to imessage but then it shows a blue loading bar and the recipient never gets it. Please fix. I tried with 2 accounts and even reset my Mac to try. Eventually the only thing that worked was to downgrade the Mac os to Mojave.

Great app. Allows me to blue bubble as needed, especially for the select few in USA who whine incessantly about green bubbles. Since recent upgrade, I do get a persistent 'Connection lost' message in Android notifications. It stays present after auto reconnecting, and after validating with sent/received messages. The notification used to go away as service came back and app found connection. Unsure if bug.

Fantastic app. Does what it says on the box. Could support tap back in the future but it's amazing today.

This app works exactly as designed. The developer is very responsive. I am using the server on a 2015 Air (also have a serviio media server on it) and the client on an S8. Allows me to carry only my Android but still get work texts to and from an iPhone. I also use it as the default sms app on the android. It works acceptably but it seems clear that it is not what it was primarily designed for. Just small stuff. Love this app.

Really enjoying this app so far! Seems to be pretty stable. Messages can be varyingly delayed, BUT that can be controlled through the macOS "server" companion app (in preferences). The AirMessage Server app (on macOS, not the Android app) does seem to increase CPU usage by 5-10% while running, but it's not too extreme. I also must say that I feel bad for the developer receiving 1-star/low-star reviews from people mad that they didn't understand that you must have a Mac to use... PEBKAC!

super simple set up process and easy to maintain! I love the ability to have this and everything works great except for one thing, when I connect to my home wifi, the app says "connection lost" but when I'm on LTE or a wifi other than my personal one, it works fine, kinda strange but not the worst bc when I'm home I have my iPod.
