Technically works fine but odd navigation. Only 3-4 stories featured on opening page, then you have to start clicking various tiles to find something new. Once you finish reading the story, it backs you out to a subpage that you never navigated to to begin with. Pictures cannot be zoomed in on either. Local coverages good but needs the interface reworked.
I need to see two changes to give it 5 stars. First, if I click on an AJC article in another app, should give me the option to open it in the AJC app instead of browser. I'm already signed in on app, it's annoying to have to sign in again in browser. Second, this app is super slow to load an article. It's just loading text and a few pictures, so why does it take two/three times as long as it takes me to start a 5K video, or open text/picures in any other app?
I dont know why the app developers feel so compelled to make this look like a bad TV news website. It's even more disorganized than before the major redesign. Also the heavy focus on having a picture to go with each title, even when its just a stock picture, is unnecessary and adds to the clutter.
The app will only display in portrait mode, not in landscape mode. I need landscape. So I uninstalled. I have subscribed to the AJC since 1971. The ePaper version has had constant problems which take months or years to fix. Please fix the app.
I used the app for over a week and found the "writing" to be terse and repetitive. I believe the AJC has automated most of the writing with AI or another tech. One newly pub. article on DeKalb county Covid-19 measures failed to include the most recent changes, which were the most important. Another article included the same quote, from the same source in two different paragraphs, one right the other. AJC online has turned into an auto-gen'd attention grabbing venue for click bait. Bleh.
Annoyingly this app completely disregards its own notifications settings. Considering the current state of affairs I though I'd download the app for COVID-19 updates on Atlanta. Makes sense, right? Well, despite setting it up to ONLY give notifications regarding the pandemic I'm getting traffic updates. I'd share screenshots of that was possible here. Anywho, this is a basic function of an app. In lieu of being able to meet this basic standard I'm giving a poor rating
Same issues since the beginning. Sometimes you get alerts & sometimes you don't. I'll click a mobile alert & it won't bring up the story. I can't forward the story or even copy & paste from the story.
Great content, bad app. Very slow to load each time I click on a notification. Annoying. Sometimes fails to load beyond splash screen and seems stuck.
App worked well when I first installed. Now when I select notifications it doesn't open the pertinent article and whenever I open it, it hangs on a loading screen.
The AJC content is generally good, and the app stability has improved, but I am not a huge fan of the new layout, and wonder when the app will be updated to allow for landscape viewing
Fixed! It seems I can't update my previous review. This is back to being a great app. It has quick links to breaking news and an easy way to access the epaper
Loads correct day and month but for LAST YEAR (2018). No intuative refresh button so it requires much trial and error to discover how to get current paper. Bad software makes AJC managment look bad.
Its OK most of the news is wire but they do a few good articles occasionally. I like Torpy and some of the sports writers, but some of the news doesn't seem balanced.
I really like this app, BUT I am sorry. Nothing will be able to replace the enjoyment I get from holding, reading, feeling, recycling, etc. the actual paper. I just love the real AJC.
Great paper, wonderful journalists. It's so important to support our local journalists and maintain access to researched, credible, in-depth reporting. Their coverage of local and state poloti8has been essential this year.
Very happy I live to far to receive a physical paper. I reluctantly sign up for a digital paper it's still isn't as good as a paper one. I digital paper is a lot better than nothing.
Horrible online news experience. Terrible design and layout. And I'm not even going to get into the lack of news judgment and obvious biases.
The first thing I do every morning is read the news on this app.. Atlanta Journal Constitution app is a must-have for news in Atlanta, Georgia! If you don't have this app you are either not living in Atlanta or aren't-for whatever reason-interested in the news!
Push notifications are out of control. They happen way too frequently and are difficult to turn off.
I love AJC it's not just a newspaper legit it has its own place in pop culture and society in general but damn y'all need a pay by the article option online because when I work for you people would have to subscribe for a month just read one article and then immediately call and cancel Angel the majority of those customers we did not gain them back and then as a person trying to read an article without subscription it wasn't worth a whole month for a year old article
The interface is a bit wacky looking on my Samsung tablet. Dark mode would be a significant improvement!
Not too bad of a local news source, except for the opinion pages which 99% of the time sway toward the left. But, as far as actual news I would give them a B.
Other than videos this app has been great to access the news I want. Except video works perfectly on my 3 year old android device.
Get the headlines and more! The AJC app delivers what I want most and gives me the opportunity to find out more about news if I chose.
I want the old AJC app back!! This one doesn't have the format of the actual paper that gets delivered! I'm not happy...terrible!
Radar overlay not working. Uninstalled and reinstalled app. Same result. To many notifications.
How do I sync the app so that I am not asked to enter my password at times when I'm on Facebook. It's very irritating! I've called for help but am told to sync on the app! How do I do this?
Too many notifications!! Please allow option for selecting how many in a day. It indicates about 13, but every time I look at my phone there are at least 2 new ones. So it feels like 130 per day. I'm about ready to turn off notifications all together, and if I do, then I probably won't ever look at the AJC app again as I won't think about it. The news and weather are fine, again just too many notifications!!
