ALA Mobile Conference
The ALA Mobile Conference mobile application allows you to access the American Library Association's various annual conferences. Within the underlying event apps, users can access presentations, exhibitors, posters, and connect with other attendees. Users can also take notes adjacent available presentation slides and draw directly on slides inside the event apps.

App constantly freezes and crashes when I try to open my schedule. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it several times, and it just won't work. Very frustrating! I'm glad that I have all that info online since the midwinter conference is virtual this year, but I really hope that this app is better when we're back in person.
I've yet to have a positive experience with the ALA conference apps but this year seems particularly bad. The list of disfunctions is long but I'll focus on the most frustrating: had to uninstall and reinstall to get the app from shutting down immediately, no content in the app FAQ, email support function fails to connect to email, Apple version doesn't seem to have a refresh option.
Some helpful. Ready access to the shuttle information alone makes it useful. But another year goes by that I have to tear out the paper exhibit hall map and hand color the booths I most want to visit. The generic PDF conf ctr map online doesn't show the booths. The maps also don't tell you what side of the building the registration area is on or where the luggage check is.
works great...until it doesn't. my favorites sessions have regularly disappeared from the app in the middle of the event. thankfully they have synced to my Google calendar as a back up. but they have also synced to my calendar 4 times over for the same sessions.
Biggest issue was not saving my starred events. Every time I opened the app I had to reboot my phone to see the events I saved. The app also was very slow to load but that could be due to all the people trying to use it.
frequently listed only partial schedule or no schedule at all. had to kill app to try to reload multiple times. note-taking functionality is also not great. the star feature and the search are good, when the app is working properly.
The app is so glitchy. Sometimes things I favorite show up in my schedule, sometimes they don't. And generally when the app is not active it stops working.
This is the worst conference app I have used. It constantly lost my schedule or pages wouldn't load. Very disappointing and many improvements need to be made.
Easy to search available sessions by unit and by day and times. I've used it for a few years. The star/highlight feature is great.
Good with one glitch... I love the app and the scheduler, but when I took my flight and changed time zones, everything disappeared from my schedule in the app and Google Calendar!
The app resets every time I open it, so I keep having to choose the correct conference and go to the section where I was before. A 15 second action on other apps is >1 min action here.
Hard to search and my schedule periodically disappears for no apparent reason. It will usually come back if i wait a few a minutes and reload the app but it annoys me.
It's not very good. Events disappear then reappear on your schedule. Better than hauling around a phone book, I guess.
The app works well, its easy to use amd syncs with google calendar. If i could change one thing I would want an option to dilter free sessions from ticketed events.
keeps throwing you out even when u have s good connection. doesn't always load everything. need to keep going out n back in to get it to load. very frustrating .
I was using the app to take notes in sessions, then later discovered they weren't saved. All of today's session notes are gone.
the space for taking notes on a phone or tablet is very limited because if the presentation graphic and space, especially when there is no presentation
Very useful and easy to use. Note that you will need to keep an eye on your personal schedule, as it sometimes doesn't load fully.
Helpful to navigate the conference but sometimes My Schedule doesn't load properly. Found that I need to restart my phone to get it to work.
Should be used by exhibitors to alert patrons of unlisted signing and book drops. All Author pics and book covers should be listed together. Should also provide a box for marking cancelled or completed events.
wish it would remember what conference i'm attending. but it's easy navigate which is better than carrying around the program.
Great but it freezes sometimes and you have to force it to stop and re-open it.
unintuitive, ugly. not nearly as easy to use as previous ALA Conference app
it's a very good app, I think there should be an Option for registration for membership.
would be better if it had a map. scanner does not work.
clunky just like the website. ALA, could do better.
Enjoyed the app. Easier than carrying the full schedule and catalog. Search function could be a bit better, perhaps by having better descriptions with better key words included within them. For example, if you put two words in the search, it would only bring back exact matches to the phrase. if the words were in reverse order in the session description, it would return no results.
